Exclusive: Never-before-seen footage from today's 'The Young and the Restless' episode

On today’s special stand-alone episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) faced his darkest demons when he was paid a visit from certain characters from his Christmas past. The producers weren’t able to squeeze all the footage into the episode, which included appearances by Victor’s late wife Hope (Signy Coleman) and his other late bride Sabrina (Raya Meddine). So EW is bringing it to you exclusively instead!

Below the jump, a scene that was left on the cutting room floor.

watched the episode yesterday on Canadian TV … arguably the worst Y&R ep of all-time.

    • Flip

True dat. Victor is such a vile and vicious character.

  • Jessica

I haven’t seen it yet, but I enjoyed last years stand alone Christmas episode with Billy.

    • Elizabeth

      Billy = ♥

If Victor can make you hate him, just proves he can act….say Ed Begley in Sweet Bird of Youth, never liked him after that..and he was a wonderful actor

if u want to really see Eric act, u MUST get the movie “The Man Who Came back.” Excellent movie!!

Thank goodness they cut that. So awkwardly written and unnecessary exposition. I wish they would have taken time for Hope to say she’s sorry for all the pain Adam’s caused Victor’s family, but to remind him that Adam *is* a part of that family and that he shouldn’t be such a–to steal from Neil Patrick Harris–douchebag in regards to his other son.

I’ve never disliked a character more than I dislike his and I watch every day. I was so happy last year when there was the possibility that Eric’s contract wasn’t going to be renewed, but to no avail. He came back.

Amen. Don’t you think Ron Raines (the former Alan Spaulding on Guiding Light) would have been a great Victor Newman? Alas, it was not to be…

  • wasabi

Just another example of how awful the writing has become. I started watching in 1974, and there have been a lot of weak periods over the years, but it’s pretty much unwatchable now. Sad.

plz..did u guys just started lookin at this? my dad, GOD REST HIS SOUL, would ‘school’ you on the many persons on this, his fav show..u r all so mis-guided about victor..oh wat a tangled web we weave…c’est la vie

    • SirLizard

Sally, I just wish your father, God rest his soul, had schooled you in the English language. Appalling! Your French seems better, though.

  • paul

I will agree with WASABI that the writing has been getting bad over the last couple of years and the speed at which the stories are being told is way too fast. But I enjoyed today’s episode. I just wish they told stories more like they did in the past.

Rats. I missed it. Christmas shopping got in the way of my soap viewing! lol Funny thing, though, I don’t think a visit from dead wives past is going to change Victor. The dude has overcome epilepsy and had a heart transplant, and he’s still a sanctimonious fool.

  • Peggy

I really dislike the Victor character. He is written to be so sanctimonious and judgmental towards everyone, even his own family. Even after being given the heart of a young woman, he continues to spout evil.

  • Chris

How Cheesy. Why are people still watching soaps? Do a little channel surfing and there will surely be something better on.

  • mary

Watch the episode and not that good; too predictable and too little impact on Victor’s character.

The best wast Micheal’s “wonderful life” episode, was surprising and to the point for the character. It was really well written.

  • Jason

    D-bag.

  • marie

i like only a select few characters on the show but the ones i dont, i love to hate so no matter how corny the show can get at times all in all its still a good show!!!!1

  • sil

My biggest problem with this show right now is that i hate hating the character i’ve always loved to love… Sharon! Her current story goes completely against the grain of almost every storyline she’s ever been a port of. They’ve reduced a strong female lead down to a place i’m not sure i will eveb want to see after all this Adam BS is over. I would be shocked if they could ever write anything that would make me want to root for her again.
