UPDATED: The Cotton Bowl gave Fox a rare Friday night victory in the ratings.
The LSU vs. Texas A&M game delivered a 5.8 overnight household rating, marking the highest number ever for the Cotton Bowl during the BCS era and a 29% improvement over last year. That gives Fox its best Friday in more than a year.
Despite the strong sports competition, ABC matched its best numbers of the season in the demo, with Supernanny (4.8 million viewers, 1.3 preliminary adults 18-49 rating), Primetime (5.2 million, 1.7) and 20/20 (6.0 million, 1.7).
CBS’ crime block was mostly back in originals, with Medium (6.9 million, 1.4) and CSI: NY (9.4 million, 1.6).
NBC had a repeat and two-hour Dateline (5.5 million, 1.4). CW had repeats.

omg, EW destroyed you?? CBS airs The Mentalist rerun instead of Blue Bloods.
I’m confused. All week (and last night) my Comcast guide listed a THE MENTALIST rerun at 10pm ET, instead of BLUE BLOODS. Otherwise, I would’ve watche.
Blue Bloods wasn’t on last night, was it?
I didn’t watch. LSU can suck it.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!
Most people might have still been on New Year’s vacation.
Blue Bloods wasn’t even on Friday night. It was a repeat of the Mentalist at 10pm. Do your homework…lol.
blue bloods wasnt even on friday. and your ratings for csi ny are wrong.
I think you need to fire your ratings source. Blue Bloods wasn’t on Friday night. CBS aired a repeat of The Mentalist at 10pm. Your CSI NY ratings are wrong too! Basically, your whole post is wrong! lol
Was really hoping LSU would lose. I really wish the BCS National Championship would be on ABC instead of ESPN. All these bowl games being on ESPN is really annoying.
GEAUX TIGERS!
Useful information. Fortunate me I found your site by accident, and I am shocked why this coincidence didn’t came about earlier! I bookmarked it.
