Dr. Drew heading to CW daytime

Dr-Drew-PinskyImage Credit: Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic.comDr. Drew Pinsky is expanding his sphere of influence. EW has confirmed that Pinsky, who has a eponymous show debuting on HLN in the spring and hosts Celebrity Rehab on VH1, will headline a new daily half-hour talk show dubbed Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers on the CW this fall.

Pinsky will tackle everything from addiction to relationship woes and also bring in experts. The network will air an original episode at 3 p.m. and follow it with a repeat. The news was first reported by Broadcasting & Cable.

The show comes courtesy of Telepictures, which previously produced The Tyra Banks Show for the CW’s daytime hour at 3. Repeats of the yakker continue to air in the slot.

This guy is becoming less and less credible. On the upside, hopefully this will fill the void in Joel McHale that was left by Tyra.

  • Michelle

I think he’s better than Dr.Phil and will watch this over that windbag anyday.

  • dixick

I agree – this guy is soooo much better than Dr. Phil. I think many will agree that Dr. Phil and his camera loving wife are getting old.

  • Lisa

    Dr. Drew is a hack!

    • walter yurek

and what may I ask are your qualifications?

  • Rita

Whether Dr. Drew is credible or not, he has a degree, he has been around forever, starting with KROQ, and he’s got a show on VH1, which i watch. He’s here to stay and if you dont’t like him, change the channel. Go find sumthin else to complain about. . . .

  • Michelle

Dr. Drew could actually save your life if you were dying…..he is licensed to practice medicine. I’m not sure if Dr. Phil is licensed to change his own pants…..

  • walter yurek

Pinsky’s been the real deal for years, all of you haters need to check your facts.

  • James

My biggest problem with Dr. Drew isn’t his qualifications so much as his tact when addressing the problems of other celebrity non-patients in the media. As a doctor, he should have the professionalism to withhold any speculation whenever Lindsay Lohan’s name pops up in the tabloids. There is a huge difference between seeking treatment from Dr. Drew and being the unwilling recipient of his long-distance prognosis.

  • Jeff Byers

C’mon, this guys is a pompous, judgmental jerk. Why do the networks keep giving this guy a platform? Sheesh!

  • Joy Norton

People with addictions don’t need tact…they need someone to present the cold, hard truth. That’s what Dr. Pinsky does. The problem with so many celebs is that the people who surround them are scared of hurting their feelings. Dr. P is trying to save their lives.

  • Cas

I agree with Joy Norton. All addicts need to hear the truth about their addiction, how it affects them and others. Certainly dont need to be holding their hands and singing Kumbaya. However, I would prefer that he not randomly comment on celebrities he has never treated.

  • JessE

people want his opinion as a qualified and highly educated professional on the “disease of our times” as he calls it. people should be less judgemental about Pinski and perhaps qualify their statements by first informing themselves on the subject, then by reading his books. Pinski is a very compassionate and caring healer, a modern ‘medicine man’ who has saved many lives by showing them the mirror in infinite regress that ultimately guides them back to their own ineffable, interior source of being consciousness and bliss! I’m personally happy to have him present in my life!!!
