'Terra Nova' premiere date revealed

Terra Nova has a premiere date: Fox’s big budget Steven Spielberg-produced adventure series will have a two-night debut in May.

The first hour will air Monday, May 23 at 9 p.m., with the second hour running Tuesday, May 24 at 9 p.m.

Those familiar with Fox’s schedule and usual midseason strategy might give this news a double take: Fox is going to air the first episode without an American Idol lead-in?

Nope. The first Terra Nova will have a lead-in from House (a very special episode, one can only assume), while the second hour will indeed enjoy a surge from the penultimate performance episode of Idol (the reality hit will air on Tuesday and Wednesday that week rather than its new regular schedule of running Wednesdays and Thursdays). After the previews, Nova fans will have to wait until fall for the show to officially kick into its first season (like Fox did with Glee).

The producers and cast of Terra Nova are taking the TCA press tour stage later today, and critics will also get to watch the first trailer from the show — nope, it’s not going to be available online yet, but we’ll describe it the best we can (I know, that’s weak, but it’s what we got).

Well, I hope it will be interesting and not more bad soap with some strange looking ferns in the background.

    I don’t understand this show.

They travel back in time to settle a colony? Don’t they worry about stepping on butterflies?

    • Thomas

They time travel back from the 23d Century….mankind is in trouble, so they are colonizing the far past in an attempt to save humanity long term.

        who asked you?

      • Michael Sacal

        It’s a logistical plot hole.

What if in trying to build a damn or whatever they end up destroying the future site of Manhattan, causing the island to never exist?

The only way this works is if time is inmutable… that is to say, that history has already be written and, no matter what they do, they can’t change anything because history dictates that they were always destined to go back in time and become part of history.

“Marshall, Will and Holly, on a routine expedition…and the GREATEST earthquake ever known!”

no sleestak were harmed in the production of this show… sadly. though violence would be more realistic with harmed animals: especially as they have exactly zero rights.

    Can’t wait! Looks good!

BFD. I’ll record both parts and watch them back to back. I’ve waited two years to get my Allison Miller fix again lol (KINGS). I think this could be interesting. We’ll see. Although between Terra Nova and Alcatraz, I’m worried about my shows Lie to Me, Human Target, and Fringe. At the very least, they should keep Target and Lie to Me as mid season replacements.

  • Rissa

I don’t think I can get excited about a show that I associate with standardized testing. Sorry, Fox.
