Fox picks up 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter'

Another day, another comedy sold to a broadcast network with a head-turning title.

Fox just ordered a half-hour pilot called I Hate My Teenager Daughter.

The story is about two women who were tormented by mean girls when they were younger, and are now appalled to realize their daughters are turning into the same type of girls they never liked. The multi-camera comedy is from Warner Bros., with Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer (New Adventures of Old Christine) producing/writing.

    Potentially interesting idea.

  • Elle

Don’t Trust the B*itch in Apartment 23. I Hate My Teenage Daughter. It’s depressing how accepted sexism is in the media.

    • abadstroller

      Yeah…(sighhhhh).

      • Jason S.

        What’s wrong with being sexy?

      • Stacie

        No sexiiiiiiiiiisssssst.

    • Kat

I don’t understand why either of those titles is sexist.

    • Voodoo

I agree that those title are absolutely horrible and negative, but I don’t see the sexism.

    • Tracy

Elle, I was just thinking that, and immediately thought of the B*tch show, too. How misogynistic are we becoming, and why is this ok? Why are we as women letting it be ok? And why would two women produce this?

      • Rick Burchfield

It is a comedy! Lighten up!
Sherry Bilsing is a great writer!

  • Steven Barnes

Who runs Fox? Monkeys? How this network is not completely laughable is beyond understanding.

    • GHB

Steven, monkeys would be a step up. And the network IS completely laughable!

  • Mandy

I think this is a realization alot of parents make, so this could be interesting. Not sure how they make this into a series, but it has potential.

    • ks

      I’m thinking the same

  • AnnaVV

It may be an interesting idea, but do they have to use such a disgusting title?

    • Sidney

      To get publicity, sadly.

      • harry

        For Shizzle!

    • BP

What’s disgsting about it? It’s not like it’s I Want to Kill My Teenage Daughter.

      • maryanne

or “i want to bone my teenage daughter in the face”

  • Billiam

This title reminds me of Cougar Town, in that if there is any character growth or changes to the premise (in this case, if the teenage daughter is allowed to be not one-dimensional), the title will no longer apply.

    • Jason S.

Like when they changed Jason’s Bateman’s character in It’s Your Move and the titled didn’t make sense anymore!

      • Not Moby

        Proper.

  • Tye-Grr

‘I Hate my Teenage Daughter’? I thought it was called ‘Family guy’.

    • Jason

      Well played.

    • Elizabeth Ensminger

      So true, lol

  • Insert Sarcasm Here

So we’re filling the 2011 TV schedule with shows basically applauding teenagers for acting like a bunch of irresponsible d-bags! That’s so enjoyable!

  • Jeff

Jumping on the MTV bandwagon, are we? More shows about spoiled girls who get what they want. Yay! Not.

    • Kate

It’s a multi-camera sitcom not a reality tv show. And it sounds like it is probably about the parents not the daughters. The title is dumb but it could have an “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” vibe in the long run.

      • Margie

That’s the way I took it. I know our teenage daughter gives my husband and me plenty to gripe about.

  • Kristen

Title sounds too much like: “8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter”..
    Just saying.

  • Jenn

I also think it sounds like an interesting idea, but I hate the title.

  • gaelyn thomson

this show just came on tv they just put eric sheffer stevens back on tv put him back on or hes fans even me get rea.lly angery put this show back on

  • John

How about a young man like me?
