Ryan Murphy joins Oxygen's 'Glee Project'

Ryan Murphy has decided he wants to be a part of that reality spin-off of Glee after all.

The Glee creator has been added as an executive producer on the upcoming Oxygen series.

Even as the press release went out announcing Murphy, producers on the Glee Project panel at TCA press tour shrugged off Murphy’s lack of presence on the project up until this point.

“Everything was creatively driven by Ryan,” said Glee Project executive producer Dante Di Loreto — who is also a producer on Fox’s Glee and has likewise now joined the reality show. “He had the idea for this at end of the first season.”

The Glee Project is a 10-episode competition series that gives its winner a seven-episode guest starring role on the third season of the Fox hit. The show debuts in June.

Good, maybe this will leave him less time to continue screwing up Glee.

Just what we need, yet another singing competition, as if America is so talented, especially ten years into American Idol’s run. At least this is on Oxygen, where it won’t hurt anyone, and the reward is tied to Glee and doesn’t carry unnecessarily big expectations with it.

Big Glee fan, but I’m thinking overexposure…

They said “Friends” was overexposed when that was starting out. Look how well that show did/is doing, even in syndication.

They said “Friends” was overexposure when that was starting out. Look how well it’s doing now in syndicated re-runs and when it went off the air in 2004.

I’m just a moderate fan here, and with all the overdose on guest stars and overexposure, I’m starting to have Glee fatigue.

Good. He has to protect his brand.

Lights go out and I can’t be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead

Singin’, come out if things aren’t said
Shoot an apple off my head
And a, trouble that can’t be named
    Tigers waitin’ to be tamed

    Singing, yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yoooooooooooo ohhhhhh

    Confusion never stops
    Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna, come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know

Singin’, come out upon my seas
    Curse missed opportunities
Am I, a part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease

    Singin’, yoooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh

    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh

    Oh nothing else compares
    Oh nothing else compares
    And nothing else compares

    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh
    Yooooooooooooo ohhhhhh

Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
