Jesse Eisenberg, Dana Carvey to host 'SNL'

NBC has announced that Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg will host Saturday Night Live on January 29. This will be Eisenberg’s debut appearance as host; he’ll be joined by another newcomer to Studio 8H, musical guest Nicki Minaj. On February 5, former SNL cast member Dana Carvey will host the show for the fourth time, with musical guest Linkin Park. Carvey will next be seen onscreen in Jack and Jill, a comedy featuring Adam Sandler as both title characters.

Eisenberg is new atleast, the last 5 or 6 hosts have all been returning guests. Carvey should be fun. I’ve enjoyed his hosting stints. Didn’t know he was in the new Sandler movie. Wonder why Sandler has never returned to host SNL. His film career was at his peak back during his SNL days and he has a great stock of characters that haven’t been re-visited in over a decade and a half.

I would love to see Sandler host too. Maybe Lorne Michaels and Sandler had a falling out?

  • Mel

Dana Carvey! That’s going to be so great.

      OMG, YES !!!!!!!

I’m hoping for a natalie portman episode sometime soon. Her previous time hosting had to be one of the funnier episodes.

That should be cool to see Jesse Eisenberg host. But I’m really excited about Dana Carvey hosting! He’s always funny. And Linkin Park being there, will be awesome! They’re a amazing band, even though A Thousand Suns wasn’t really amazing

    Timberlake better host this year!

Eisenberg: Most overrated actor of all time
Dana Carvey: Most washed up comedian of all time

    • Joe

Jennifer Morgan: Most hyperbolic poster of all time

Ok Look, Jesse Eisenberg hasn’t been in that many movies so how can he be overrated if there isn’t much to rate? And also the Social Network was a great movie…. I don’t think there really is any argument otherwise. And also, nah don’t even go there on Dana Carvey. He is hilarious and all his impressions are spot on! Just because he decided to settle down and not make any movies or anything for awhile doesn’t mean he’s washed up.

During the week they prepare the Eisenberg show on 1/29, he will earn a Best Actor Oscar nomination. That should be some opening monologue. Justin will have to show up for this show.

I like Jesse Eisenberg a lot… but just THINKING about him on SNL makes me feel awkward. During interviews, he always seems pretty uncomfortable, and unsure of how to act. He’s charming and self-deprecatingly funny, but he also generally seems neurotic and twitchy during stuff like that. So, I’m interested to see him in this live role, and I hope I get to see a new, more confident side to him.

Maybe the real Zuckerberg will join Jesse Eisenberg on stage? If anyone could and would do it, it’d be SNL.
