Jane Krakowski's pregnancy will not be written into '30 Rock' -- EXCLUSIVE

30-rockWhen Jane Krakowski announced the happy news that she and fiancé Robert Godley are expecting a child, 30 Rock fans cried in unison, “By the hammer of Thor! What does this mean for Jenna? Will Jane’s pregnancy be written into the show?” At long last, the suspense is over. Tina Fey and exec producer Robert Carlock tell EW in an exclusive statement, “At this time, we plan to shoot around Jane’s pregnancy, because no child should have Jenna Maroney for a mother.” While our hopes for a clandestine Jenna-Kenneth tryst have been dashed, I do think the 30 Rock team has made a wise choice. How about you?

It would have been funny. I thought Jenna was going to fake a pregnancy for attention.

    • dori

ricardvs…a fake pregnancy that would be funny!!

      brilliant idea!

    • Michael

Pregnant Jenna would be HILARIOUS! I can just see the mood swings being overplayed hilariously… but it’s true, she’d be a horrible mother.

      • CRA

Ha ha a fake pregnancy for attention would have been too funny!!!

    • Thomas in Vancouver

A fake pregnancy would be great, but I can see the show using all of the classic belly-hiding techniques in very hyper-obvious ways. They’ll have Jenna carrying a laundry basket while going to restaurants or walking in the park.

      • Melissa

Good one! Jenna carrying a basket everywhere….LOL!

      • Chris

They need to do what they did for “flashback” Liz during the Live show, and have a different actress do scenes where you Jenna’s body.

    • mem

oohh, I hope the writers read this. A fake pregnancy would be AWESOME. And, her character is crazy enought that it would be beliveable!

    • hillybilly

@ricardvs that would have been great!!!

    • Michael

It would really be in Jenna’s character. I can’t believe they didn’t have her do it already.

  • Kai

@ricardvs wouldn’t that be brilliant idea to cover up her real pregnancy? To make the character herself fake a pregnancy for attention? (It seems kinda off but If u know Jenna u know what kind of person I’m talking about) Xd

  • Ryan

I thought either way would be good, but seeing Jenna wanting to be a trendy celebrity Mom for attention and doing insane things with her baby would have been hilarious!!!

  • tori

It would have been ok if they wrote it in because Liz really wants a baby and everyone around her is having one. Tracy just had his girl, Jack is going to have his and then they could have made Jenna have one as well. It’s ok they didn’t write it in.

    • tori

I meant to say it would have driven Liz batsh*t crazy because everyone but her was having one.

  • bill

Omg. Too funny. I love these people. Jane, best of luck. 30 Rock forever!

  • Kristen

I could see Jenna have a hysterical pregnancy, it would have been crazy funny to write that in.

  • Barack Palin

That’s a shame-I think a pregnant Jenna would be hilarious. And maybe she and Liz could be the coparents.

  • asil

The problem of even a fake pregnancy is how to end it without it being creepy, awkward, cruel, sad, painful, depressing…. This *is* a comedy, after all. I’m just looking forward to the in-joke of Jane carrying around a spiral-cut ham, a-la Avery on her show.

    • Dwigt

Do you remember the fake pregnancy in “Glee”? I guess that nobody wants to explore such a storyline after the Terri fiasco.

  • Dave

I think they could have created a really funny storyline for her pregnancy, but oh well. Maybe instead, they should bring back fat Jenna. That was all kinds of hilarious in the first few episodes of season 2.

  • zimmerman

    mystic pizza!

  • Alec

How about they just kill off her character? The idea of Jenna and Kenneth dieing is quite appealing…

    • Buffy Freak

More appealing? The idea of you learning to spell dying.

      • T.

        LOL… definitely enjoyed this comment.

      • T.

It’s funny, and yet, I don’t want to add to anyone’s pain. So, I’m sorry that we are laughing at your typo. But, it’s a funny comment.

    • pdxuser

No! Jenna and Kenneth are the Karen and Jack of 30 Rock.

  • John

They are going to come up with some funny and creative ways to cover her stomach. Still remember how they covered up Phylicia Allen’s stomach with a giant bear on the Cosby Show and they didn’t explain why the bear was there.

  • UGH

    Dear EW,
We all know who Jane is. You don’t have to post a picture of her with that attention wh!re.

    • Cris

That’s right, EW, so please stop including Tina Fey, the show’s creator and writer, in any photo, article or mention of the show. Hey UGH, you’re a m!r!n.

    • Thomas in Vancouver

Do intelligent, creative, successful women frighten you?

  • Rebecca E

Pregnant Jenna would have been hilarious, but I do agree with Tina Fey. Jenna Maroney would be the worst mother on the planet.

  • Bob

I think they shouldn’t try to shoot around her pregnancy like all the other shows do. They could mine some comedy gold by commenting on her expanding waistline in each episode.
