Image Credit: Frank Micelotta/FoxAbout 10 p.m. PT last night, season 9 American Idol alum Alex Lambert announced to the world, via a string of posts to his Twitter feed, that he’s been living on the streets since finishing appearing on Simon Fuller’s Hulu reality series If I Can Dream, which wrapped its first season in October. ”Alright so I didn’t want to bring my person life to my fans but I’m about to freak out if I don’t tell yall the truth!” Lambert tweeted. “Ever since IICD ended I’ve been kinda homeless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.” A string of other tweets followed, where Lambert said that he’s “usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore.” He continued: “I just want my fans to know that I’m not an American Idol type person!” And he finished by saying, “I just want y’all to know the truth!”
A spokesperson for 19 Entertainment, an Idol production company that manages many of the show’s contestants, confirmed to EW that Lambert did tweet those messages. But the rep also was also emphatic: “He’s not homeless. I don’t know where that came from.”
The spokesperson added some evidence that Lambert, who’s on a development deal with 19, should have the means to pay for housing: “He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month. He’s working on demos. He’s with writers, he’s working on music.” Then the rep added: “He’s not homeless. How could he be texting? How could he be going into recording studio and sleeping on the streets? There’s no record deal yet, but hopefully these demos something could come from that.”
That party line must have gotten back to Lambert, too, because 15 hours after the original messages appeared, a new string of tweets hit Lambert’s feed, where the singer said there was a “miscommunication,” although he does admit to “crashin behind buildings and sleepin behind buidings.” He added, over multiple tweets: “I’m a grown ass man. I’ve had so much help out here in LA! I just want to do things on my own! I have places to stay I just don’t want to be a burden on anyone! I have money! And soon I will have a place to stay! I just wanted to let y’all know! I’m not some rich spoiled kid! That I’ve had to hustle and grind and I don’t mind sleepin on the street as long as I get my chance! Because I will not take it for granted! I hope y’all understand. Sorry for the miscommunication. I’m just fine!”

I agree. He comes off as an annoying little punk kid. Rude and unbearable. Looks like he’s just trying to get attention for himself with self-pity tweets.
How refreshing to read opinions that aren’t just saying how amazing Alex is, that he is better than Elvis or that he was such an amazing singer that he was robbed. If he was such a good singer he would have made it further into the show. Guess that he’s wishing that he finished his education so that he had some kind of back up for this post If I can dream situation. Everyone else from that show has got a job and though he’s apparently been sending cash home his family don’t live in the developing part of the world where things are really a lot rougher for some. Plus he has an aunt who lives in LA. Surely she wouldn’t let her nephew sleep on the streets unless she didn’t know what was going on or who pulled a stunt that annoyed her.

Actually, there are a couple of homeless people in San Francisco who have laptops. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more homeless people now with laptops and computers, with the way the economy tanked.
At least there’s still computer labs in public libraries. Or a troublemaker like him would probably still have plenty of friends that would let him use theirs. Lee DeWyze is starting to look like a much better person now …

I did my final year of college homeless. I student-taught and earned my teaching certificate homeless. I subbed over a year being homeless and part-timed Wal-Mart homeless. I finally succumbed to a gov-job and four months later finally found a “home.” if I had not had a car all that time, a different story maybe. So that exec, he doesn’t know squat about what a person is capable of doing while homeless. Good luck to Adam – but don’t be embarrassed about your situation!

To those of you who apparently can’t read…this is ALEX Lambert, NOT ADAM Lambert!! BIG difference. Adam Lambert is raking in the cash with his awesome voice. Whereas ALEX Lambert is…apparently a homeless douchebag.
He’s a AI Season 9 contestant who was shockingly eliminated in the semifinal round because his voice is so beautiful. He has a unique timbre that is out of the norm compared to most of Idol’s generically bland one-note singers. He’s only about 20 years old, so he’s young and probably just trying to figure out his path in life. I’m rooting for him. I’d love to hear him on the radio one day.

Shockingly? Hmm, not so much. The whole Top12 of last year was pretty weak.

I agree Bryan, Alex was the pick of the litter last year, but he hadn’t had much experience performing live, and choked on AI, but he is mad talented, and for god’ssakes people the kid is 20 and grew up in Antspiss, Texas–of course he isn’t as sophisticated as you people expect him to be.
