'Big Bang Theory' dish: Howard has a choice to make, and Raj's sis comes back to town!

big-bang-theory-castImage Credit: CBSGotta love those nerds on The Big Bang Theory: They were among the first actors to walk the red carpet of the Golden Globes on Sunday, which gave us plenty of time to catch up with CBS’ top-rated comedy. First up: Simon Helberg, who gave us this fun little tease on Howard: “I know that my character is going to have to make the choice between his mother and his girlfriend. That is going to come to a head. Rick Fox is coming on. He’s playing a tall, beautiful ex of Bernadette’s.”

Here’s what Kunal Nayyar had to say about his alter-ego, Raj: “Raj’s sister Priya is coming back to town in the next couple of weeks. There’s a big dance number. Last time (his sister and Leonard) just slept together and Raj was fine because she didn’t want anything long term or serious. But this time they start to date and it may come to blows. It is going to be very hard for Raj to swallow if they become an item. I hope she’s back for awhile. She’s a great actress.”

Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco dished that Penny’s still harbors feelings for Leonard:  “I just heard that Raj’s sister is coming back with hopes of rekindling something with Leonard. I think that might kick up something with Penny. I think she is going to get a little jealous. She doesn’t realize she is in love with him until people take his attention away from her. We always want what we can’t have. That’s so Penny. Jessica Walter is shooting our show this week and it is hilarious. I will say there is some hot stuff going on there. Cougar hotness this week.”

Wait a minute, Jessica Walter? Give us more, executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady!

“Jessica Walter’s playing a wealthy donor at the university and the guys have to go and woo her and slow dance with her to get money for the university,” Lorre began. “Even Sheldon.”

“And maybe Leonard is called upon to do a little more than dance,” added Prady.

“It’s a little dirty and nasty and hopefully hilarious,” continued Lorre.

Like Cuoco said, Prady confirmed that Leonard and Penny will continue down a bumpy road. “I always think they are perfect but they just met each other at the wrong time in their lives,” he said. “We sort of pay attention to what the fans are saying and go from there. They aren’t through but they aren’t exactly ready to come together either.” – With reporting from Carrie Bell

All I have to say is, it’s about time Howard moved into his own place. Let his mother mother managed without him and vice versa.

    • Cici217

No way. We have to be treated to the mother’s yelling every so often. It wouldn’t be the same if it was done via phone. Too bad they couldn’t move into a duplex so you could hear her through the wall

      • Margie

        Now that’s funny!

  • Javadude54

I thought Kaley Cuoco was brilliant in the Halloween episode. The scenes with Penny and Leonard were very poignant and both actors did a great job of showing the emotions of their characters.

And, IMO, no woman has ever looked so good in a Wonder Woman costume. Well, maybe Debra Winger… it’s close.

    • Lalaland

That wasn’t a Halloween episode. It was New Year’s.

But yes, it was a great episode.

    • Garry

Nah, compared to Debra winger, Kaley is tops (pun intended).

  • Remy

No. No. No. No. The Penny/Leonard dynamic is awkward and uncomfortable to watch. I have to agree with Sheldon. “No. Not again!”

    • mjsc

Leonard and Penny. Yes. Yes again

    • David

I’m glad someone else agress, I think the show took a turn when Leonard and Penny were dating. “Shamy” are about 10 times worse than Leonard and Penny ever were though.

      • Remy

Lol. I don’t know…. They’re both pretty bad. I’m not a fan if the Amy character, but I’d rather watch her than Penny/Leonard.
Other than that, I absolutely adore the show.

  • Rosie

It all sounds pretty good to me! I’m looking forward to the next few episodes, that’s for sure. I just hope Prady & Lorre don’t listen to the fans who think Penny and Sheldon should be together…

    • Walt

Sheldon won’t ever date Penny. The writers have promised that. Them and the actors don’t want it, and even if the actors did, the writers have the power. So don’t worry.

  • Dalia

I’m not a big Penny fan. I think her absence when she broke her leg led to some of the best episodes ever. I feel like if they were to knock her back a little bit, make her more of a background player it would be better. I know I’m in a minority on that one but I love these guys and Penny doesn’t seem to love them anymore. She just always seems bored of them.

    • Garry

I disagree completely. Penny is essential to the show. Even though most of the guys’ discussions are way over her head (she represents most of us viewers in that regard), I think she feels comfortable with them and, for the most part, really enjoys being with them–whether she wants to admit it to herself or not.

  • Flame

See, I told you they would play the Nurses card.

For those of you not familiar with this 1991 sitcom, in it Ada Maris was in love with Kip Gilman, but he didn’t realise it. When he did and wanted her, she had moved on. Classic sitcom stuff.

  • steph

Is it bad that I want Zach to be part of the group? But that would probably be super awkward. He was just so endearingly dumb.

  • nunnya

I saw this coming with Priya. I can’t wait. I like Priya and Zack is hilarious, but Leonard and Penny belong together!

  • Country Girl

Are you kidding…. this show would not be same if one of the characters was not there.. All 5 of them make and break this show, which is the best comedy on TV, regardless of whether they receive an award or not.

  • Garry

Let’s just hope the writers pull back on Sheldon’s increasingly rude and nasty comments to everyone else.

    • Susan

Yes – I agree. I haven’t found the show nearly as funny these days, because of the overuse of Sheldon and his nasty ways.

  • hazel

I have to be honest; I just don’t get all of the complaining about different aspects of the show that I’ve seen over the past couple of months. So far, I have loved every episode of the show since season 1. I trust the writers to make a hilarious show. I’m not worried at all.

  • Ashley

Am I the only one who love Penny and Leonard together? They’re cute and awkward and (generally) willing to work through their drama. Leonard trying to understand football was pretty hilarious.

    • Susan

Not the only one. I loved them together!

      • Garry

Yes, I’d like to see Leonard and Penny together again!

    • Leela

I also loved Penny and Leonard together. They’re perfect for each other, they just need a bit more time to realize it. Or she does, anyway. Plus, this Priya thing could be the push Penny needs! I love seeing her jealous when Leonard has a girlfriend-saw this coming after the Truth-Or-Dare an I am so excited to see this happen! I adore this couple. :)

      • surgeonrecon

I agree completely. Both of them need to get something to gain confidence. Especially Leonard. The moment he stops feeling sorry for himself, I think Penny will realise how much she wants him.
Yes I believe they’re the OTP of course apart from Howard-Bernadette and SHAMY!!!

    • heather

i miss Penny n Leonard. i want them back. please.

    • Flame

You are not alone, they belong together. But Penny has trouble talking about her feelings, so it will take a while before they can be an item again. But I’m pretty sure they will ride into sunset in the very last episode.

  • EF

I can’t wait for Leonard and Penny to be back together but I love that we are going to see Penny get jealous.

  • cameobrooch

“And maybe Leonard is called upon to do a little more than dance,” added Prady.

I was wondering how much longer the writers could go on without addressing the hotness of Johnny Galecki…

    • EF

You can say that again! I’m convinced Leonard always has those layers of jackets not only b/c it’s nerdy – but also to hide Galecki’s body – because he pretty much has a rocking body.

    • Jennifer

I hear yah cameobrooch. I may be wrong, but he seems to be the one guy out of the four who gets the most “fun time” with dates and gf’s. At least that we, the audience can see. Here’s to more of that…more Leonard and possibly a more stable relationship with a gal!

      • Flame

        Let’s do the math, Jennifer:

Raj: random girl from the Halloween-Party, random pickup from the bar, Dr. Eisabeth Plimpton (inofficial: Leslie Winkle)

Howard: Penny’s friend, Leslie Winkle, Las Vegas hooker, Bernadette (maybe by now) – inofficial: some random pickup

Sheldon: diddly squat (inofficial: Leslie Winkle)

Leonard: Leslie Winkle, Dr. Stephanie Barnett, Penny, Dr. Elisabeth Plimpton, Priya Koothrappali (inofficial: a daydream about Princess Leia and Penny)

  • Brett

Penny and Leonerd! Penny and Leonerd!

Get them back together! Forget all the haters!

    • Walt

      I agree! They’re great!

Writers, if you’re reading this, if the plan is to get her jealous and fear she’ll lose him for good like was foreshadowed, and it ends with LP together, then wow, you guys have a great storyline planned!
