BBC's 'Being Human' season 3 gets U.S. premiere date -- EXCLUSIVE

Every time we post a story about Syfy’s Being Human, we get comments about how much people loooove the UK original. Well, this is great news for you: The highly anticipated third season is coming to the U.S. on BBC America, and sooner than you might think.

Being Human season 3 — which just debuted in the UK a few days ago — will premiere on the stateside cable network on Saturday, Feb. 19.

“A third season is a unique opportunity because it allows you to take all the best bits of season one and season two,” creator Toby Whithouse says. “What we took from season one is the domestic element and very strong stories of the week with very strong guest characters. Season two had much more of an epic sweep and a breadth of ambition. Season three has allowed us to combine all those things.”

Being Human follows four friends — two werewolves, a ghost and a vampire — coping with the supernatural challenges in their lives while trying to blend in with their human neighbors. The showdown last season has George, Nina and Mitchell fleeing their house in Bristol and are now looking for a new place to rent in Wales, while Annie remains stuck in purgatory.

Yea!!! I am like the Sci Fi (I refuse) too, but it is kind of like watching a re run. I worry when it has to get into the second season attached to the first season because the first season of Being Human was excellent. The second season lost me at times. I am excited about it coming back. I am also excited to see who they cast in the Nina role in the American series because I think the American series has the pressure of having a character who I sometimes think the British series did not originally anticipate the audience liking as much as we all like Nina.

Finally! Yes, more articles about this AMAZING show, please.
I am so excited for the new season.

I can’t wait! Absolutely LOVE this show.

  • Will

Awesome. Glad we don’t have to wait until the summer.

One thing I don’t understand is why the SyFy channel remade the series in the first place – and why did they change the character’s names? I loved watching the original on BBC America. So why mess with a good thing?

American re-makes really bother me too. Especially one like this where its practically the same script just re-filmed. Honestly i think they do it because they assume all americans are ignorant and that the british humor and dialogue will go over our heads and wont translate well…I also read an article once on how hard it is to get the legal rights to british televison here in america, its really complicated and even bbc america has to follow those rules. Like if another american channel, like syfy, picks up a british series before bbc america does, then bbc america cant pick up that series, because syfy already has the rights to it. So maybe they couldnt get the rights to play the bbc version, so they just made their own. Thats probably why they just premiered an american version of Top Gear too, which also pissed me off.

I agree….but I did watch the SyFy version, it is okay, but the BBCA version…I <3 it…:)

any news on the Canadian date for Space (our version of the SciFi Network)?

  • Izzy

YES you just made me a happy girl :)

  • KC

I love this show. Russell Tovey as George is amazing.

    • side3

I agree. I have seen him on other UK shows too, like “Ashes to Ashes” and “Gavin and Stacey”…he is always great.

      • chris

        ….and Dr Who!

    • Rita

KC I loveee this show and you are correct about Russell T. He is amazing in this show. I am watching the American version rather I am trying tooo and its his character in the American version is in no way as good. In terms of the entire case none of them are at this juncture, we shall see…

Yes! I just finished watching the dvd’s of series two and I loved it.

  • SLB

How about seasons one and two?

    • Lazengann

They already aired them in 2009 and 2010. But BBC will probably be repeating them in the weeks leading up to the premiere, so keep an eye out.

      • Rita

I am hoping for the same even though I have seen them..

    • jc

Seasons 1 & 2 are also on DVD. So, if you have Netflix, you can check it out that way. :)

Can’t wait! I’m giving the US version a chance but the pace is so slow, the characters aren’t as endearing, and the tone is unsettling (not in a good scary way) which makes it hard to watch. Yea for the original!!!!

    • chris

I just saw the first of the USA made one and they seem to be condensing the plot significantly. I’ll watch it but they better show the 3rd season of BH on Space or I’ll be really pissed!

      • Gezza

You have to admit, you usually get a lot more in a British programme than an American one. The yanks just stretch a plot over ages

    • ndnwmn

      agree :)

  • Lazengann

Ugh, I hate Nina! But yay for it coming back. It’ll be weird having to different versions airing at the same time. The US version isn’t actually that bad. The werewolf transformation is less cheesy for one thing.

  • cassi

    Awesome news! :D

  • anonymous

I heard the first two seasons had shorter episodes on BBCA because of commercials. Will that be the case for this season as well?

    • Lazengann

When they premiere the episode, they always give the full length of the episode. When they repeat the episode after that, it is cut down for time, yes.

      • anonymous

        Ah, thanks for the info.

    • GimplyGump ☺☻☺

Most likely and more of the God awful censoring. They cendor words the CW lets spew.
