Fox’s Fringe story continues to improve. After delivering a surprisingly strong number on Friday despite moving from Thursdays, the drama has gained an additional 42 percent thanks to DVR playback after only three days of Nielsen measurements.
Fringe jumped from a 1.9 adult demo rating on Friday night (matching its Thursday average) to a 2.7, thanks to the added viewing. Compare that to CBS’ Blue Bloods, which has averaged a 2.4 on the night. Competition will climb in the coming weeks as Fringe will face more original shows like CW’s Supernatural, but this is a great start.

I love Fringe and since they started the plot line about the alt universe it has gotten awesome. I hope they go back to showing the other side again.
Well, we’re gonna see our favorite cabbie and also (my) least favorite Olivia again at some point- could be over there. Or over here.
Yay Fringe! Freaky Fringe Fridays Forever!
Good one Emma! Fringe along with Supernatural does make for some Freaky Fridays.
Emma, try saying freaky fringe friday forever quickly several times.
Yea Friday night is tough but it’s nowhere near as tough as going up against The Office and Greys.
Just like sweet music to my ears. Congratulations Fringe.
I love Fringe and I hope it gets renewed. I really hope that it does not do so at the expense of Supernatural. It is very frustrating to have my 2 favorite shows on at the same time. Thank goodness for DVR’s.
Fringe’s renewal prospects and Supernatural’s renewal prospects are essentially 99.9999999999% mutually exclusive.
Generally, networks are comparing shows to other shows on their networks, not to similar shows (either content-wise or timeslot-wise, or both in this case) on different networks.
Supernatural is in better shape than any CW show besides The Vampire Diaries. It’s chances at renewal are almost guaranteed.
Fringe, on the other hand, is squarely on the bubble. Fox’s President essentially stated that Fringe needs to stay above 80% what it was getting on Thursdays to stay alive. It was averaging a 1.88 on Thursdays, so 80% of that is a 1.5. Clearly, a 1.9 is a great start. Hopefully it keeps this up!
Awesome News! Fringe on Fridays ROCKS!!!
Great news! My favorite show!
It keeps getting better and better. Love this show!
Last weeks episode was fantastic! Can’t wait for Friday!
Too bad DVR playback means nothing to advertisers, and therfore, the networks.
Great news!! Keep watching everybody!!
That’s good, now we just need to keep it up, especially since Supernatural is back this week.
Fringe is smart, entertaining and fun. Watching it at the end of a long week is perfect. Go, Fringe, go!
I like Fringe but I love Supernatural.
Supernatural has it’s loyal fans and could do Fringe some harm.
We shall see. Fringe definitely has the momentum.
Seriously- Supernatural fans are either callous or just plain mean. Every single time there is any good news for Fringe- there they are. Proudly saying how they won’t ever watch Fringe because Supernatural is on, etc. Even on an article about DVR numbers, which in no way impact their own show! Like a throbbing boil of negativity. Can’t you let us be happy for like, 1 week? I week, it’s really not that much to ask.
Even at its lowest, Fringe still drew *twice* the viewers Supernatural pulls in.
yeah…good news
Excellent!!!!:D Fringe is the best!
