The new Vampire Diaries trailer is here! EW.com obtained the steamy midseason teaser for season two of The CW’s biggest hit and it includes a new tagline that asks: “Got Wood?”
The video comes just one day after EW.com’s report on the show’s new billboard campaign urging fans to “Catch VD.” Asked whether this is yet another attempt to lure viewers with racy marketing, The CW’s Department of Double Entendres had no comment. Here’s the video:

as a die hard fan of this show I’m not sure that’s the best advertisement campain ever…
Recently,I found a very interesting place
- se`ek`wea`lthy,,c”0-m -
It is the best club for seeking the rich singles, beauties and even hot celebs……There are More than 3,200,000 members.
including CEOs, professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, investors, entrepreneurs, professional models and cheerleaders, and Hollywood celebrities,
just to name a few.I think everyone need to meet some miracle after all the terrible stuff in the news and the economy .
You should check it out!
It cheapens the show. Vampire Diaries is one of the CW’s more superior shows in terms of writing and content but an add campaign that rips off a previous series of Gossip Girl adds just puts TVD in the same category as the rest of them. They’re never going to earn viewers respect this way.
I watch this show each week, and I must say that this ad campaign was a bit of a turn off…
This promo makes it seems as if TVD was all about sex, which doesn’t do justice to the writers’s work, who provide us multi-layered characters.
I’m a fan of TVD, but had I never heard about it, this promo would definitely NOT make it for me.
Ahhh! Yes, the advertisement is naughty. But we’re missing the point!
WHO IS THE BLONDE STEPHEN IS ABOUT TO DO?!?!??!!! CAROLINE? Do mine eyes deceive me? Someone, please tell me!
You just seen it too fast. The video was of the previous episodes.. the scene when caroline through matt into the tree to eat and Stephen was on the floor with Alana… her hair looked a little tinted with blonde from the lighting. Those are the only scenes of this ad that I thought you could be refering to.
i think it’s Matt with Caroline, whit ticks me off Caroline should be with Tyler. They were so close and tender last episode…CW don’t screw it up by dragging it out! What about Jeremy and Bonnie? I didn’t see them in that horrible clip…ANNOYING!
I agree. And I’ve been trying to convince others that they may like the show–this sort of thing isn’t going to help. I’m kinda embarrassed I keep saying how great it is; I feel pervy.
I agree, this definitely isn’t going to lure new viewers, and doesn’t come close to doing justice to the surprisingly high quality of the show.
Between this and the whole “VD” thing, someone needs to be fired. Or possibly multiple someones. Like, right now.
Agree with ya there.
AGREED. TVD is way better than this.
I agree the show is definitely not all about sex, but it was still fun and sort of harmless. Very lighthearted. I laughed, which I assume was the goal.
Unfortunately not. I think – as many have suggested – this is supposed to be the equivalent of Gossip Girl’s OMFG campaign a few years ago. Designed to titillate and shock adults and encourage teens how racy it is.
Shame since I agree with everyone that the show is way better than this, but if the tactic works and the ratings stay strong, then we all get to keep the show we like. Who knows?
Seriously?
The show is doing extremely good, the audience loves it, the critics too. Therefore, this type of ad campaign is just unnecessary. CW is always messing up things.
I’m still trying to figure out why anyone would think a ‘VD’ banner campaign would be attractive to anyone.
There seems to be a complete disconnect between the people that make the show what it is and the marketing people at the CW. This and the VD ad yesterday make very little of what is a very intelligent smartly written and well-acted show. It stinks of desperation fire someone quick…
not good! i lovee the show but this promo isn’t that good! it just shows people having sex?!
I think this is actually a pretty smart way to go. These sorts of campaigns worked well when Gossip Girl tried it a couple years ago. They’re just a catchy way to lure new viewers. A lot of people watch True Blood due to its sexually charged content. I feel TB is an inferior series to Vampire Diaries. If this is the sort of campaign they need to boost ratings, I say go for it.
please stop this. It’s not funny or clever. just stop!
Whatever you think of these ad campaigns, you have to admit that it’s given the profile of the show a boost because people are talking about it everywhere.
HA HA HA HA HA OMG LOL this is so hilarious. Yesterday it was the ‘VD’ today It’s ‘Got Wood’ :O LOL.
People I don’t get the hysteria here, it’s getting all of you talking about the show anyway etc, which was the goal.
Anyway 1 day left for tvd and Damon Salvatore/Delena:). How I missed thee LMAO
Oh come one…it’s hot. Vamps and supes are all about the sex. Bring it.
