Ricky Gervais visits NBC's 'The Office' (video)

It finally happened: Here’s the original UK Office boss Ricky Gervais making his cameo appearance bumping into NBC’s Office manager Steve Carell. They meet, they mock, they hug it out. Enjoy this moment while it lasts (that’s what she said):

Comedy is a place where the mind goes to tickle itself…that’s what she said.
This scene was absolutely perfect. But at the same time, what a tease!

    • jk

The expression on Steve Carell’s face after Gervais says thats what she said is so priceless that alone should win him an emmy

  • DEE

I would love to see David Brent interacting with the Dunder-Mifflin crew! Ricky Gervias should replace Steve Carrell.

    • Jeremy Sheer

It will NEVER happen. Ricky Gervais loves sitting on money what he created…They did this because Steve is LEAVING…Ricky would never do it if steve carrell wasnt leaving…

  • AE

Carell’s reaction to “that’s what she said” was genius. Loved this clip, I wish they’d have been able to keep it a complete secret until it aired.

    • lolly

I must have been living under a rock because it was a total surprise to me, which is great because with the internet, it doesn’t happen very often..LOVED IT

      • krayzeman

me too, and im on the internet everyday. I dont know how i missed that but im glad i didnt know because the scene was hilarious

      • Amy

I never heard about it either and I am always on entertainment websites during the day. I heard he might make a cameo but I had no idea would be last night. Hilarious!

  • ryan

Dreams do come true! Wish it could of lasted longer, but still the best moment on the office in 5 years.

Michael Scott is hilarious, but David Brent is a legend!

    • Save the English language

In case you care, it’s “could have,” not “could of.”

      • Brandon

        Thank you.

      • Flip

And the contraction of “could have” is “could’ve”, which sounds a lot like “could of”.

      • Anne

It doesn’t matter what it sounds like – it’s not correct.

      • Vince from NYC

What a treat. I wanted to see some comments about the office but got an english lesson. Thanks All! Now I can pass the LSAT! Bunch of losers..

  • Mike B

I’m so glad this finally happened. And even though it didn’t last longer it was perfect. I loved how they hinted at Michael Scott’s departure. And he works at Dunder-Mifflin? I thought it was sabre…

    • Flyer

Although they were bought by Sabre, didn’t they keep the Dunder-Mifflin name? As a subsidiary kind of thing?

  • PK

That was great. Now Gareth and Dwight need to face-off.

    • Elaine

Now THAT would be epic! I’d love to see Gareth again.

    • jk

maybe that is what it will take to get dwight off of the show

  • Eric M. Manos

I saw it tonight, and wow funny. These two have to make a movie togeather. Sad to see Steve Carell is leaving The Office, but look forward to Will Ferell coming for four episodes later in the season!

  • LOL

    Where’s your jet pack, Zuckerberg?

    • zoidberg

best laugh of the show…I love it when Halpert gets his comeuppance.

  • Shannon

That was one of the best scenes of the Office. Ever.
Did anyone else catch that little hint that David Brent is looking for work? Hmmm well I know somewhere that will be needing a new boss soon…

  • Dottie Jo

    How great was that?!?!?
What a pair…loved the looking for work part…hope it’s a hint that David Brent will be back!

  • Not Moby

Inspired, but did anyone else think that David Brent was looking a little too lean and a little too well dressed? He seemed a little too cool to be David Brent.

  • AntonioSaucedo

    And Jim and Tim

  • Garry

Anyone who hasn’t seen the original version of “The Office” should make the effort! Gervais is beyond brilliant.

  • Delilah

Now could we please get a cameo from Stephen Merchant? I’ve got such a crush on that lanky, goggle-eyed freak.

    • MIchele

I think you are my new best friend. I’m an enormous Gervais and Merchant fan, and I also have a ridiculous crush on Merchant! Why aren’t there more girls like us??

      • Delilah

I know, right? I’ve always thought Merchant was the true genius behind The Office & Extras (in which he stole every scene he was in). I’ve even done the math on our height difference… Do they make 12″ heels?

      • Rebekah

I thought I was the only one! He was so hilarious in Extras- the naked lady pen? Aah!

  • harry

    awesome!!!
