More actor shuffling in the Law & Order universe: Alana de la Garza is moving from the L&O mothership over to Law & Order: Los Angeles.

Garza will continue to play assistant district attorney Consuela “Connie” Rubirosa in the franchise, only now on the new show. The move is supposed to be the final cast tweak in the show, which has seen a flurry of changes throughout its first season: Skeet Ulrich, Regina Hall and┬áMegan Boone left the show; Terrence Howard went from appearing in every other episode to every episode; Alfred Molina’s character switched occupations from prosecutor to detective.

Yay for her. Dick Wolf definitely has a type; Angie Harmon, Mariska Hargitay, Alana De La Garza… :D

  • Jimmy

    Absolutely terrific.

    • Blue Silver

Awesome! She’s hot! Now, I’ll be tuning in! :)

    • Sharlin

Here is an idea. Why did they even cancel the original if they are going to bring back the original characters? No wonder NBC is 4rth.

  • Will

    Love it!

  • Allan

What about anthony anderson??? he would be a much better choice as detective as opposed to molina. They just need to admit they made a mistake and put the original L&O back on.

    • Nancy

Wish we could ‘like’ comments. This is the absolute truth!

    • maggie

So true! L&O:LA should be ended. The original L&O should be brought back.

    • LMR

SO TRUE! Just cancel LA and bring back regular old Law and Order! Connie and Mike Cutter were HOT together!

      • Jenny

Icould not agree more! Stupid NBC!

      • California

I LOVED that last cast and you are so totally right!!

      • phd

        speack truth…bring it back!

      • gooGoo

        Way Hot!

    • Ap

      You know…it’s not too late.

They could have the NY cast go to LA for an unfinished, yet connected case from NY (someone who was found innocent – but with new evidence they could be found guilty), extradite them to NY and bring back the original L&O.

      • Doh!

The 5th amendment mean anything to you?

      • Ap

        @Doh!

You’ve obviously never seen the show. If everyone pleaded the fifth – there would be no Order in Law & Order.

      • t

AP—Ever heard of Double Jeopardy? NO one can be charged with the same crime twice.

    • Ty

That’s exactly what I was thinking…when I 1st saw the headline I thought good idea and then I thought why bother with all this shuffling just bring back the OG L&O

    • Kiki

Completely agree. The original was the best, and LA is bland and no fun at all. Bring back Law & Order!!!

      • phd

couldn’t they do like Fringe and be in LA one week and NY the next?

    • Yara

YES! That’s exactly what has to be done cancel this and bring back the original, in my head Mike and Connie got married and had a baby now they ruined that too, oh well at least I get to see Connie again.

  • Katie

Fabulous! Love Alana! I know it’s too much to ask for but can she bring Mike with her?

    • Will

I second that. Though I’d also want Jack to go. :|

    • Ari

      Like!

      • jj6

        like like super like

  • k

Just move the entire cast from last year to LA. They were excellent. Best since losing Lenny.

    • maggie

Why not just revive L&O in New York, and cancel the LA spinoff.

    • bbkenn

I like it better filmed in NYC.

  • Sarah

Yay, I love Connie! She’s definitely my favorite ADA since Claire Kincaid. But it would be even better better if they brought Anderson, Sisto, etc. as well. In fact, how about just canceling L&O: LA and returning to the mothership?

    • Jen

Amen! I was really enjoying the final season of L&O, thought the cast had good chemistry. Such a shame they pulled the plug on it.

      • maggie

        I agree.

    • Kristine

this.this.this. haven’t been able to stand LA, there’s really very little that stands out about it. one of the things that made mothership so great was you felt like you were watching real people. in LA it’s just all these recycled faces you’ve seen before from other places. doesn’t have the same feel. but I loved Connie, and the original had the best cast chemistry in quite sometime, and then they canceled it. and now that they’re bringing her back, I feel like I have to watch.

      • Sarah

I agree. I’ve read in various message boards that one of the main reasons the original L&O stood out was because NYC was like its own character. LA (and I say this as someone from LA) is such a sprawl that, while each neighborhood is unique and has its own flavor, it’s hard to represent that on a tv show.
        Then again, Southland manages somehow…

      • Yara

You’re right after all the cast changes it finally felt right! I can’t believe it was canceled, I really wish Connie could bring Mike with her and maybe stash Lupo,Bernard, and McCoy in her purse somewhere (one can dream).

    • Brett

They’re bringing the best cast member of the original series’ last incarnation (besides Sam Waterston) to L&O: LA. Anderson and Sisto were as interesting as watching paint dry; one of the reasons for failing ratings of the original series.

  • dee123

Crap! now i have to watch.

    • Lorie

      I had the same thought.
I deleted LO:LA from my DVR when I learned that Skeet was leaving. Now, I’ll have to add it back when Alana returns.

  • Jeff from Jersey;yes New Jersey

Nice casting. Looking foward to LOLA 2.0

  • The Dude

Great that she’s coming back, although I would have LOVED to see her in a few cases as first chair.

  • MsDaisy

Great news, but isn’t she technically moving from unemployment to L&O LA?

  • Cool Black

It would have been cool to have Anthony Anderson on. His character was supposed to be from Compton, CA.

Sam Waterston is about the only castmember from the original that it would be too expensive to hire back (S. Epatha Merkerson was leaving anyway).

  • Joey

eh, i’ll watch out of sheer interest of moving a character from the mothership to LA but nothing more. i kept watching law & Order Los angeles and ive seen every episode so far. i heard it was getting delayed but i thoguht “honestly im not gonna give it any more chances” because while it has imprived from the terrible shameful pilot it still has not gotten good. but now tih Alfred Molina as detective and a reassingment from the mothership i will watch out of interest from a production standpoint rather than a creative one. i honestly didnt even like the last season of the mothership. in my opininon Law & order was at its best in the first 3 years (1990-1993)

  • taree johnson

I am very happy to hear that Alana De La Garza, is returning to the L&O Franchise, but why not SVU as their ADA….I will try to Give LOLA another go but I’ll hold my breath since the show is about to become the Terrence Howard/Alfred Molina hour!

  • Laura

For the love of God, bring back Jack McCoy!

    • Toby

      AMEN!

      • JohnnyNoGood

        ain’t that the truth

      • phd

        PLEASE!!!
