Charlie Sheen enters rehab, 'Two and a Half Men' goes on hiatus

Charlie Sheen has entered rehab, his rep tells EW. “Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today. He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern. Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional information will be provided,” the rep says in a statement.

CBS also released a statement saying Two and a Half Men will go on production hiatus, following the news. “We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision,” the network says in a statement.

The actor was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Thursday with “severe abdominal pains.” His rep blamed “a hernia condition.” He was released later that evening. Earlier this month, Sheen reportedly went on a bender with porn stars in Las Vegas, leading CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler to address Sheen’s health at a press conference: “We have a high level of concern. How can we not?” she said. EW previously reported that reps from CBS and Warner Bros. Television approached the star with a plan to temporarily halt production so he could seek professional help; Sheen initially had turned down the offer.

WHY IS THAT LINDSAY LOHAN GETS BLAST OVER HER BEHAVIOR AND YET CHARLIE SHEEN GETS CONCERNS FROM NETWORKS ETC? IS IT BECAUSE SHE WAS ALWAYS TARDY YET HEALTHIER THEN SHEEN AND HER BEHAVIOR NEVER WAS THIS BAD COMPARED TO SHEEN?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!!? HOLLYWOOD AND PEOPLE ACROSS THE GLOBE ARE IDIOTS FOR STILL STANDING BEHIND THIS FOLLY WHEN LINDSAY WAS ABANDONED…YES SHE DID SHOW UP TO WORK LATE NUMOROUS TIMES BUT HER DRUG USAGE AND WILD BEHAVIOR IS NOT AS BAD AS SHEENS. HOW IS HE INSUREABLE?!?! AND SHE ISN”T?!!?!

      • Piper

        Calm down Dina.

      • Seth

Cause Charlie has talent and Lindsy is well….

      • Teri

I was thinking the same thing. Charlie is a bigger Cash Cow.

      • Sue1

Lose the caps, kok, you have some valid points that need not be shouted. Sheen’s talent lately has been sleepwalking through his role on Two and a Half Men and skateboarding through his troubles. It’s about time he faces them.

      • AK

@Seth: Really? Charlie Sheen has talent and Lindsay Lohan doesn’t? Because I think if Lohan hadn’t let partying and drug addiction take over her life, she would be one of the best young actresses out there. Her promises in “Mean Girls,” “Freaky Friday,” “Bobby,” etc. showed a lot of promise. Sheen, on the other, essentially just plays himself.

      • Larry

Wow, we have become a nation of pansies! When did living life to its fullest become wrong and require rehab? Dude was having the time of his life with a suitcase full of blow and a house full of porno starlets. If you were as rich as Charlie, you’d do the same.

      • tbone

CBS is concerned for the star of their #1 sitcom. Their “cash cow” is killing his self.

      • jeff

Two and a half men is a peirce of crap show. Shows how stupid America has become.

      • captain obvious

Charlie has a hit show. They have nothing without him. Lohan is easily replaced by any other cute face, and sad to say- isnt as good an actor as Charlie.

      • Bob Loblaw

As soon as I see the ALL CAPS, I automatically skip over such post … am i the only one?
        ;)

      • YIELDCURVE

Charlie Sheen rakes in millions for CBS and despite his personal life has maintained a professional quality that LL has not. As far as insurance goes, LL does movies where the money is much bigger (and the losses far greater)than weekly network sitcom.

      • Marc

If you recall, the media sorta went like this; “LIndsay is just having fun like other teens so let’s not be tough on her” or “Lohan mom says her daughter is fine”.

Meanwhile Sheen is a grown man on the verge of killing himself. “Dad concerned and rushes to hospital.” “Sheen threathens wife during holidays”. Of course those aren’t exact quotes.

I think both should get a good wake-up call personally.

      • rdm

Sad to say but I don’t know anything about her other then her drug issues. Charlie on the other hand, we go way back. He’s been around for a long time.

      • charlie sheen

Plus, I am the executive producer of the show, so they have to say that.

      • Charlie Sheen

Look, I’ll do a couple weeks of rehab to look good. Tone down the partying for another two weeks to let this die down. Then, once the spotlight’s gone, two suitcases of coke and six porn stars! I don’t know who’s dumber, the local sheriff for ignoring my suitcase of coke or the American public for believing I’m anything other than a low life piece of garbage. I’m laughing all the way to the bank, suckers! And to my coke dealers house, of course.

    • Mia

      Larry you are so right!

      • Marc

Larry, that comment is ridiculous. Living life to its fullest does not mean blowing life away. I’m not even suggesting that he could use the money to help others, but he could use the time and money better for himself. He chose to have a family that depends on him, he chose to enter a business where hundreds of people depend on him. If he doesn’t want the responsibility, drop out of their lives and let yourself be replaced by someone who is willing to take responsibility. What is Emilio Estevez doing these days? Maybe he’s available.

      • Will

        @Larry
You are a fool and you continue to make the same stupid comments across multiple boards.
Because of Charlie Sheen “living life to the fullest” hundreds of people will now be without jobs. Selfish as$hole.

    • Carlos

If Charlie Sheen doesn’t get himself together soon, he will end up dead. I like Charlie and I have followed his career. If he alleged to continue use drugs, he might end up with AIDS/SIDA.

The guy have all money and wealth, but he seems to be unhappy.

  • josh

Rehab? This guy just can’t handle his drugs. Only a briefcase full of coke? What a lightweight!

    • Rusty Shackelford

My question is, why isn’t he in jail?

      • B

He was alleged to have a briefcase of coke by porn stars. There were no police involved thus no jail.

      • LD

So why no police involved then.

      • Karl

A few $$$ a day can make the police go away.

    • cattyfan

I’m trying to figure out how rehab will cure cure a “hernia problem.” Stupid publicists.

  • Kat

Finally. Best of luck to him.

    • Karl

      Finally… for the umpteeth time.

  • Alice

    poor CBS

    • California Gal

      Why “poor CBS”, Alice?

      • Cheery

        Because Alice is an idiot.

    • Marc

Maybe because the emeployer is now being put in a position of having to make difficult decisions that will impact not only one person they care about but many as well as their bottom line. I’ve had to deal with a troublesome staff person and it is not easy at all.

  • Keith

    It’s about damn time.

    • heidi

everyone around him must be so glad he finally couldn’t just go back to work after a bender. I doubt this is voluntary but he had to know he could only go for so long and maybe the physical pain he’s feeling is a hard lesson in learning about what he’s doing to his body. Functioning addicts need that kind of wake up call to be convinced that their behaviour is truly going to kill them if they don’t stop.

  • Chris

Wait … you go into rehab for a hernia? Never heard of that one.

    • Rusty Shackelford

LOL…First thing I thought of. He needs to fire his staff and start fresh. No more enablers.

      • Tracy Murray

        Right

      • Steve

How can he fire his staff? If they are a bunch of “yes men” lackies, then why would he want to replace them with a bunch of people that would be telling him the right thing to do?

    • Garry

I think someone must have taken his “rep” aside and told him that handing out that “hernia” b.s. wasn’t fooling anyone.

  • Dean

Charlie is king, hope he feels better soon & keeps on keepin’ on

  • anne

Of the 6 comments shown at this time, 3 of them are people attempting to be funny at Sheen’s expense. Guess making fun of someone’s problems makes you feel better, huh? Jerks—–

    • Rusty Shackelford

I know poor baby. Did you feel the same way about him when he was beating his wife?

      • anne

Didn’t say I admired him–I said these would-be comedians are kinda sick to mock someone who has big problems. Your sarcastic remark is a perfect example.

      • Rusty Shackelford

He’s lucky he’s not in jail, where he should be, so no tears on my end.

    • Dan

Oh, gee, Anne, I hope nobody here hurt Charlie’s feelings. But if they did, he can wipe his eyes with his 2 million dollar paycheck.
His problems are of his own creation, and he hasn’t lifted a finger to help himself. We’re supposed to feel sympathy for an overpaid, spoiled Hollywood brat?

      • Jean Genie

His superfans are just as pathetic. It’s a wonder Charlie’s not dead yet. My heart goes out to his daughters.

    • josh

No, being a responsible adult, who spends 20 grand on coke and stays up for 3 days, makes me feel better. especially since I have 4 children.

    • Chris

Dude makes millions per year. Hard to feel sorry for him.

      • Steve

        Year? Try week….

    • Syd

      Anne,

There are no jerks so blind as those who can’t see destructive behavior. What, this jerk can’t think about his children? Oh, wait, he’s a child himself.

      Syd

    • sara

Anne you are a moron. Try spending your pity on someone who deserves it. Not a spoiled idiot multi-millionaire who is intent on killing himself, conveniently ignoring the fact that he has small children. Charlie Sheen is an ***.

    • Marc

I don’t know why many of you are getting so touchy about each others’ comments. It’s a forum for discussion about the issue. Try using terms like I think you are incorrect, or misguided. Drop the insults. Now let’s see how many bad names I’ll get. Btw, I’m franco, so you can double the insults by using french words too!

  • mary q contrary

I highly doubt he actually wants to get clean. This is CBS’ answer to the questions concerning his behavior. But really, unless they can actually get the guy to listen, it’s a moot point.

    • Teri

I tend to agree with you mary q. CBS may have to write a show for “his funeral” if he continues this self-destructive behavior.

  • AC

How about they just fire him for this kind of behavior and stop giving him $2 million per episode? Maybe he’ll ease up on his drug habit. Tough love, TV. Tough love.

    • Kate

A little thing called a contract. All his antics happen during hiatus so they don’t havent interrupted the production so the studio doesn’t have cause to fire him. Besides firing him would sink 2.5 Men which makes them a ton of cash. There is a reason he makes as much as he does.

      • Mike

It’s always about money, isn’t it? Pretty sad.

    • Tracy Murray

I am with you , AC , as soon as Charlie cleans up and gets his act together ,then he can do another TV show , but not as star this time around .

  • mlj

    Wishing him luck and strength!

    • Jess

Why??? Seriously, you are an idiot.

  • Piper

Jail, jail, jail!!! That may be the only thing that may save him. How many times has he been in rehab before? He just doesn’t really care. Or he would have cleaned up for his daughters at least.

    • Rusty Shackelford

Yeah, I thought hiring prostitutes and having a briefcase full of coke was against the law.

      • P

If you get caught yes, not if people are just wildly speculating. People will say anything to get their name in the paper even if it makes them known as that porn star that partied with Charlie Sheen.

      • Rusty Shackelford

        Speculating? He’s going to rehab

      • Ben

They didn’t say what he is going to rehab for. Could be drinking or prescription pills neither of which are illegal.

      • Rusty Shackelford

LOL…ok…that’s why he’s in this mess because of people like you that keep making excuses for him. Keep being naive.

  • Hannah

I feel bad for all the others on the Two and a Half Men cast, they will suffer for a problem that isn’t even theirs.

    • g.a.g.

Only hope that some of the other key players were smart and saved their paychecks for the day that I’m sure they knew would come.

  • bg

I guess I’m a jerk too, because I have no sympathy. I wouldn’t have sympathy for a family member that made such poor decisions and was simply reaping the results of those choices. Why should I feel sorry for someone I don’t even know. I feel sorry only for his kids, not him or his wives. They knew what they were getting and sure enjoyed living off of the benefits of his fortune.

    • Ktct

      I share your sentiment.

    • googliezoo

I have sympathy for his kids and for the crew who make their living working on the show. It’s not just Sheen who’s affected by this. However, I do hope he gets his life together.

  • darkdefender85

He will be out in a week…

    • Karl

      Again…
