ABC’s Charlie’s Angels has its trio female leads: Former Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly’s will play a former Marine and weapons expert and Transformers star Rachael Taylor will play a con artist.
The duo have been near-deals for the roles this week and are now official on the Sony Pictures TV project. Kelly and Taylor join the previously cast General Hospital star Annie Ilonzeh. Here’s the trio:

The new modern-day version of the show will be set in Miami and is from with Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough, Leonard Goldberg (who produced the original version), Drew Barrymore, and Nancy Juvonen. Remakes have traditionally struggled to find viewers on broadcast, though CBS’ showed with Hawaii Five-0 that you can pull off a primetime hit with a classic title. And Angels is certainly on-brand for a network that has a strong female following with shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.

Was really hoping for Greg Grunberg as Bosley, but he’s signed on to do a series for A&E.

I will watch just about anything with Minka Kelly in it – such a good actress, and an amazingly gorgeous face to boot.

she’s one of the worst actresses around. but she is gorgeous, that’s for sure.
True enough,but keep in mind that the actresses of the original series weren’t hired for their acting ability.They were essentially fashion models posing as detectives.
The plotlines weren’t adapted from Dashiell Hammet,Mickey Spillane,or Raymond Chandler.They were essentially dime-store mysteries.

I’m not her agent, promise! I didn’t realize people were so anti-Minka Kelly in terms of acting. I’ve loved both characters she’s played on Friday Night Lights and Parenthood.
Minka is a pretty face, period. Can’t act. There were some scenes in FNL that I felt bad for her – it was clear that she couldn’t handle being around more talented actors, like Connie Britton, Brad Leland and Taylor Kitsch.

agreed. I couldn’t handle her acting in FNL, but she was pretty great in Parenthood. She’s gotten better with age… and probably coaching.
She’s lovely, and wasn’t supposed to be a heavy hitter like Connie Britton or Kyle Chandler, she’s supposed to be a teenager and former cheerleader, and I think she played the role perfectly. She really could have been an annoying character, especially given her affair with Riggins early on, but she pulled it off and will always be Lyla Garrity to me. That said, you’d have to pay me to see the Charlie’s Angels remake.

Being a die hard fan of the real series and im a teen I really do not like this cast, I dont feel like they are good enough for charlie’s angels, Katie Cassidy would have been great to play the blonde main person.
I agree. Minka and Katie would rock the screen and make it a must-see show. My first thought when I heard about casting was “KATIE CASSIDY!” But I guess this means she can play Buffy now.

It is SO misleading to say, “See a pic of new trio,” as EW did in the link on its home page. This is not “a pic” of them, it’s a composite of three separate pictures. The link text was clearly intended to fool people into thinking that they had an actual photo of the three actresses together. Nice way to treat your readers.
