Categories: Hot in Cleveland, Scoop

Hot-in-ClevelandImage Credit: TVLandEven if it’s not your birthday, you’re getting a present tonight: Season 2 of TV Land’s adorable, retro, and double-SAG nominated comedy Hot in Cleveland launches this evening at 10 p.m. New episodes of the show — which stars Betty White, alongside three shipwrecked-in-Cleveland L.A.-expats in Jane Leeves, Valerie Bertinelli, and Wendie Malick — haven’t been seen since the first 10 half hours wrapped in the shocking August season finale, where viewers were left watching Elka (White) be hauled away to jail after a stash of valuable jewels and goods were discovered in her storm shelter. (Damn that mob-employed husband!)

'Heroes' creator Tim Kring sells pilot to Fox

Categories: Television, TV Biz

He’s baaaaack: Heroes creator Tim Kring has sold a drama pilot to Fox called Touch, about a man who discovers his mute, autistic son can predict the future.

So, it’s sort of like Heroes… except there’s only one hero… and he doesn’t talk.

The script was written on spec and marks the latest pickup during pilot season (when networks give single-episode orders to a flurry of projects to find potential series for next fall). Fox also picked up a project from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas yesterday.

Ratings: 'NCIS' socks it to 'The Biggest Loser, 'V,' 'Parenthood'

Parenthood-castImage Credit: Art Streiber/NBCMan, originals of The Biggest Loser, No Ordinary Family, V, and Parenthood were no match for the NCIS franchise: CBS won Tuesday in adults 18-49 (3.2 rating/9 share) and viewers (16.5 million), thanks to those men and women from NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. Granted, both dramas were down (NCIS earned a  4.1/11, down 9 percent, while LA earned a 3.3/9, down 11 percent), but the network still ruled in most key demos for the night. Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million.

The Good Wife only did so-so ratings, earning a 2.1/6 in the demo — which ties it with its season low. READ FULL STORY »

Fox has picked up a comedy pilot from Veronica Mars (and, even better for this writer, Party Down) creator Rob Thomas.

The single-camera comedy is about three families united through their kids little league sports. The title is Little in Common (at least that title will likely remain unchanged, unlike this one) and it’s produced by Warner Bros.

'American Idol' alum Alex Lambert rep: 'He's not homeless'

Categories: American Idol

Alex-LambertImage Credit: Frank Micelotta/FoxAbout 10 p.m. PT last night, season 9 American Idol alum Alex Lambert announced to the world, via a string of posts to his Twitter feed, that he’s been living on the streets since finishing appearing on Simon Fuller’s Hulu reality series If I Can Dream, which wrapped its first season in October. ”Alright so I didn’t want to bring my person life to my fans but I’m about to freak out if I don’t tell yall the truth!” Lambert tweeted. “Ever since IICD ended I’ve been kinda homeless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.” A string of other tweets followed, where Lambert said that he’s “usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore.” He continued: “I just want my fans to know that I’m not an American Idol type person!” And he finished by saying, “I just want y’all to know the truth!”

A spokesperson for 19 Entertainment, an Idol production company that manages many of the show’s contestants, confirmed to EW that Lambert did tweet those messages. But the rep also was also emphatic: “He’s not homeless. I don’t know where that came from.”

'The Event' scoop: Blair Underwood talks about new characters, end to those 'confusing' flashbacks

event-underwood-bartImage Credit: Joseph Viles/NBC; Craig Sjodin/ABC/Getty ImagesDon’t worry, fans of NBC’s The Event: The cast and crew have been working hard to make sure you’ll be able to follow the drama once it returns to NBC on Feb. 28. In fact, series star Blair Underwood (President Elias Martinez) told EW exclusively that the show is revamping the way it tells the heavily-serialized story about a strange group of detainees who may (or may not be) from this world. “We had been jumping around a lot and doing flashbacks and that was confusing to people,” he told EW. “So when we come back, that device is done with! We are now telling the story straight through so people can track it and follow it easier.” Great news!  READ FULL STORY »

'Parenthood' stays put; NBC postpones return of 'Law & Order: Los Angeles'

Parenthood-castImage Credit: Art Streiber/NBCNBC put the kibosh on a plan to move Parenthood to Mondays and will keep it on Tuesdays at 10 to give Law & Order: Los Angeles more time to reboot itself now that three of the original stars are leaving the freshman drama. New episodes of Parenthood will now air on Tuesdays for the remainder of the season while LOLA will return on a day to be determined.

The Peacock also announced other changes to the schedule. The new competition series America’s Next Great Restaurant will debut on Sunday, March 6 instead of the previously announced date of Wednesday, March 16. The Marriage Ref – which was meant for the Sunday slot — will return at a later date.

Alfred Molina will step up to replace Skeet Ulrich on LOLA, even though he’s already on the show as a district attorney. He will continue to play Ricardo Morales, but it will be revealed that his character was on the Los Angeles Police Department for 15 years, and earned the rank of detective. His frustrations as a prosecutor reach a tipping point and he decides to return to the police force. Terrence Howard, whose character Jonah Dekker alternated with Molina’s Morales, will now be in every episode.

MTV's 'Skins' reveals strong start

Nope. Nothing inappropriate here (Jason Nocito/MTV)

MTV’s naughty-by-calculated-design drama Skins got off to a strong start on the network, delivering 3.3 million viewers.

Insiders had their fingers crossed for anything above 3 million, so this number comes as a relief. What’s notably absent from MTV’s ratings release, however, is how many watched the special Monday night airing of Jersey Shore that led into Skins. We’ll post that when we get it. READ FULL STORY »
