Think 'Taken' the TV show: ABC schedules summer series about a kid gone missing
No, Liam Neeson is not doing a small-screen version of Taken for ABC. But the Alphabet is developing a series that’s similar to the 2008 film about a former spy who’s daughter is kidnapped overseas. In Missing, which was written by Greg Poirier and executive produced by Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo through ABC Studios, a young man disappears while in Italy for a summer internship so his mom travels to Europe to track him down. It soon becomes clear, however, that she’s no ordinary woman. That’s because she used to work for the CIA!
The drama is expected to air this summer.
(What’s that, you say? Don’t care about June and July programming and would prefer, instead, to review what ABC and the other networks may have in store for fall? Well, then check out our handy development list here.)

'Vampire Diaries' set cursed? Ian Somerhalder talks filming tonight's episode with walking pneumonia
Image Credit: Bob Mahoney/The CWThe Vampire Diaries returns tonight with its first new episode of 2011 (check out our primer on where we left off), and no one may be more excited to see it than Ian Somerhalder: As his Twitter followers may recall, he had walking pneumonia late last year — for two months. Tonight’s episode is the last one he shot while sick.
“I had to do ADR on four episodes extensively. Two episodes I had to loop completely. Literally, almost every single word I said,” Somerhalder told us earlier this month. “It was a battle. There was nothing I could do. First of all, you have to take a bunch of medications so you can actually speak and breathe, and that dopes you up, and then you’re like one of those little bobblehead Chihuahuas. You’re just kinda goin’. When you can’t breathe out of your nose, or you have a mouth full of cough drops so you’re not coughing through the entire scene, it makes it difficult. I’m not making excuses for any kind of bad performance, but it just leveled me, and it leveled Damon. But it’s gone, and I’m done with it. So I’m not gonna be boring anymore.” READ FULL STORY »

NBC Universal's new logo dumps peacock (pic)

Charlie Sheen suffers 'severe abdominal pains,' rushed to hospital
Image Credit: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagicUPDATED: A representative for Charlie Sheen confirmed that the Two and A Half Men star – who apparently has a history of suffering from what’s called a hiatal hernia – was rushed to the hospital Thursday in Los Angeles. “He has had a history of having this type of hernia, and the person who made the 911 call said he had severe stomach pains and said it was from a hernia condition,” said his spokesman, adding, “I have no firsthand knowledge of any of this.”
TMZ reports that he is expected to stay in the hospital overnight. The CBS comedy that is produced by Warner Bros. TV is currently in the midst of a scheduled hiatus so Sheen’s hospitalization — at least for now — should not affect production. The cast and crew are set to return on Feb. 1.
Earlier this month, a series of reports hit the Internet about Sheen and how he reportedly went on a bender in Las Vegas with porn stars over a weekend. READ FULL STORY »

Throughout Saturday Night Live‘s august, 36-year history, there have been some truly weird host/musical guest pairings: Betty White & Jay-Z, John C. Reilly & My Chemical Romance, and Jamie Foxx & Blink-182 all immediately spring to mind. But this week’s show, which will be hosted by Social Network star and Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg with musical guest Nicki Minaj, may feature the oddest couple ever to grace Studio 8H.
