Kristen Bell joins Showtime project

Kristen Bell may be coming back to series TV.

The Veronica Mars and Heroes star has joined a Showtime pilot. Bell has joined the cast of the network’s comedy project House of Lies, starring Don Cheadle.

The project is based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time … which pretty much serves as an effective story description too.

Cheadle is the cutthroat consultant who uses any means necessary to get his clients the information they want, while Bell is a smart, Ivy-League grad who works at his firm.

Anything that brings her back to TV on a regular basis is always a great thing.

    • DW

Especially since all her movie choices have been abysmal.

Or the only roles she’s been offered are awful.

      • Michael

Agreed. I’m hoping that her character more closely resembles VM than it does any of the shrill shrews that she has played on screen. I can’t believe they haven’t been able to find better big-screen roles for a very talented actress.

Thank you! ‘You Again’ and ‘When in Rome’ were both painful to watch. I was just shaking my head the entire time, going “why Veronica, why?!?!”

      • Adam

The only wise movie choice she made was Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

This is the best news I’ve heard all day. I love, love, love, love Kristen Bell!!!!

good for her. showtime is really trying to get some original shows going.

Great news for Kristen Bell fans who want her out of awful romantic comedy movies. Let Katherine Heigel take all those roles.

    • davey

True. Her choices in films have been pretty horrendous. She works best on television.

Pistols took me awhile, as it’s a knewaess.TGU w/ 44lb kb. Kept a steady pace. Didn’t really go for time.WOD rx’d:100 DU 1 minute100 HrPU 6:30100 Squats 1:12Totatl: 8:42Worst part about it was the hand release push ups. I got to 25 and fatigue set it. Ended up doing sets of 5 to 10.

I may (I say, MAY!) have wanted to see the New Year’s Eve movie, but hearing that Heigl is replacing Halle Berry comPLETEly nixed that!

  • Marsfan

I agree with you j. She needs better roles than the movies she’s been getting recently, with the exception of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I wouldn’t complain if she ended up playing the new Lois Lane either.

I’m all for it. This sounds a lot better than those talent-wasting rom coms KB has done.
And the brilliant Don Cheadle as the lead only makes it better. Hope this works out for them both!

    I miss Veronica Mars :(

    • Anna

      Me too. : (

I agree with all of the above, and would like to add that there’s no shame in being a tv star. It’s much better, IMO, to be in a great tv show than any romantic comedy on the big screen. Katherine Heigl and Kate Hudson both started out with promising careers and they both p*ssed them away only to make romantic comedies. Kristen Bell is too talented to settle for that.

I’m for it. She’s hilarious on Craig Ferguson’s show.

  • Todd (Heap) Schaefer

I was hoping it was “Animal Instincts”.

Posted on incredible, that was a very good read. In cnuslocion, someone who actually thinks and understands what they are blogging about. Quite difficult to find of late, especially on the web . I bookmarked your web blog and will make sure to keep coming back here if this is how you always write. thank you, keep it up! .

As long as there is some nudity I’m on board.

Glad to have my beloved Veronica Back from the clutches of the Rom-Com!

  • truth

I’m glad she’s coming back to TV. That Burlesque was a nightmare and a 2 hour waste of talent. Everyone makes mistakes.

Her movies are the worst pile of garbage, but she shines on TV. Kinda looking forward to this.

I’m happy to hear this. Look at Gellar, Garner, and recentley Emmy Rossum. TV is where the challenging roles are for women in the 20’s – early 30’s. Hollywood is all about the romantic comedy.
