EW has learned that Becki Newton has an offer to star in at least one comedy pilot — which may finally signal the last gasp of her tortured NBC dramedy Love Bites.
NBC’s comedy-romance-anthology-thingy has seen its premiere date delayed twice and its order reduced from 13 to 9.
The cast has been told they’re free to go try out for other pilots, but NBC insiders still say Love Bites is not officially dead (this is a bit like telling your significant other that you’re not breaking up, but you’re now free to date other people).
The news comes after another Love Bites actor, Greg Grunberg, landed a role in a A&E’s pilot Big Mike a few days ago.
This, below, is not NBC’s Love Bites, but it’s called “Love Bites” and at least you’ll be able to watch it:

this sucks… I was actually looking forward to it.
me too. it’s definitely not happening now
I was really looking forward to seeing Becki Newton and Greg Grunberg together, but I am not sure this was the greatest premise. I will totally watch these two in whatever they do!
Same. I have the exact same feeling. I love Greg Grunberg and Becki Newton is pretty great too.
Nertz.
Well this show muct really suck if NBC put Perfect Couples and Outsourced on but passed on this.
No kidding. No matter how bad Love Bits could possibly be, Becki Newton’s charm alone would make it worth watching over those 2 dreadful shows.
Yeah, so why don’t they just air it in one of those slots? Out of sequence? Who cares? Put it on at some point because it’s not like those other shows are going to last, and you’re going to need space to fill at some point.
That’s too bad…I was looking forward to is as well.
Greg Grunberg is hot! Would love to see him naked.
Ed – YOU AND I BOTH!
Me too! He is absolutely adorable too … met him in London some time ago and he was certainly funny and very approachable … a really nice guy who deserves great things!
Maybe NBC should have aired this instead of that godawful Perfect Couples. Yet another dumb NBC decision.
Wow, an advertised show being cancelled before it even airs. When was the last time that happened on a major newtork? What exactly is managment doing at NBC?
How ridiculous. Why bother? Is it that bad?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t NBC do the same with Kings? Did we actually get to see any epidsodes on TV?
NBC did it to Southland right before it was set to air the second season. Bunch of geniuses over there.
They actually did show all of Kings, barely. It got really good when it ended and if NBC had at least tried, it would have found its footing eventually. I was looking forward to Love Bites. Perfect Couples has its moments (and none of them include Olivia Munn) but I would have rather watched Becki Newton.
what about Day One??? we never got to see that one either … and remember how they cut it from episode to episode to a mini-series to a movie … but never showed it …
I practically forgot about that.
Becki Newton definitely needs to come back to TV, but the commercial for this show looked really dumb.
Ive got to say, based on the preview, the show looked really really really good. I’m shocked.
I saw the pilot in class the other day, it was pretty bad, except for the last part, very pleased that I will be one of the only people to have seen it though!
You might not be, NBC never said they weren’t going to air the 9 episodes, atleast not yet anyway.
awe…. i love me some becki newton- i just hope she gets on tv quick!
On the bright side Becki can round out the new cast of Charlie’s Angels.
People are still surprised when NBC does something stupid? C’om folks!
Well, I was going to watch “Love Bites,” but only to see Greg Grunberg and Becki Newton; if they both have other, better shows in contention, I’m happy to watch those instead.
