Repeat of 'Two and a Half Men' is Monday's most-watched show; 'The Bachelor' gives ABC a win

life-to-meImage Credit: Patrick Wymore/FoxA decent performance by The Bachelor helped ABC to take Monday in adults 18-49 (2.7 ratin/7 share) and viewers (8.4 million), according to preliminary ratings. The Bachelor was up 10 percent versus last week in the demo (3.2/8)  and averaged 9.2 million over its two-hour time period. (A repeat of Castle aired at 10). Then again, it helped that the usual victor on Monday nights – CBS — was in repeats.

Still, CBS managed to still come in second for the night in the demo (2.4/6) and viewers (8.1 million). Two & A Half Men — which just so happens to be under a great deal of scrutiny these days because of Charlie Sheen undergoing treatment – was the most-watched show for the night (11.2 million) even though it was a rerun. CBS will be back with originals next week.

Fox came in third for the night in the demo (2.2/6)  and viewers (7.4 million), with Human Target earning a 2.1/6 and 7.8 million  - its highest rated episode so far this season -  and the season finale of Lie to Me posting a 2.2/5 and 7 million.  As for NBC, the network aired originals but only has lows to report: Chuck ( 1.7/5, 5.5 million) matched its series low, The Cape (1.5/4, 5.3 million), suffered a season low, and Harry’s Law (2.1/6,  10.8 million) managed to remain flat despite its crappy lead-ins. Hold on, Kathy Bates!

A repeat of that garbage is the highest watched show? It’s yet another sign of the Apocalypse.

Its amazing how people continue to trash “Two & Half Men”. I find it raunchingly amusing although poorly acted by actors who should be doing better. But for so many to post all aghast at its popularity is lame. I was entranced by “Lost” at the beginning but soon found it insufferable and yet I rarely posted on the constant articles that showered it with adoration. Its funny to me; having said that, bring back NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE.

No Chuck! It was the best episode, too! :)

    • Chuck Fan

“Chuck” is so good, that is a shame. The mix of the Sheen hype and the events in Egypt might have hurt.

  • Jay

the title of this article = Proof of the American population’s stupidity

  • nykolus

who watches that show, really? i honestly want to know. HOW is something like that still on the air after all these years? i’m flumoxed…

    • BLM

I know a handful of people that watch 2 and 1/2 Men at my work. They’re all 40 to 50 year old women. They all think its the funniest show ever. I just politely nod and move along. I don’t get the appeal.

    • dman

you really can’t find anything better to do than whine about people enjoying a tv show you don’t like? wow… pathetic.

      • nykolus

you must be one of em, huh d???

    • BigBoo

Mostly people with 6th grade educations. Or the home-schooled crowd. They got their TVs but don’t gots no high falooting computors. They don’t know how to type anyways – that’s why you usually don’t see them on here.

I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I have come to the conclusion that over half of 2 and a half men’s viewing population is convinced that it is not a sitcom, but in fact a reality show chronicalling the life of Charlie Sheen. When they hear about him in the news, they tune in to see what all the fuss is about, and they think what he gets in trouble for is what airs on the show.

Chuck is by far the best 8pm show on Monday nights, it is so smart and hilarious!!! And even though I watch Castle live and DVR Hawaii Five O, I gotta tell you, I love Harry’s Law (now double DVRing) NBC needs to move it to another night and give it a chance it is a great show!

  • Rob

How did Harry’s Law remain flat with 10.8 mil viewers? It doubled The Cape. If anyone fell flat its the Cape.

    • swthompson

compared to last week’s numbers, i’m guessing.

  • Bababooey

ok, pull the cord on Chuck already. It had its chance to earn a decent fanbase….and I think it’s peak has far from peaked. Cancel it and enjoy the DVDs everybody!

    • Jay

I have 3 TV shows that I can honestly say I “love”, and wait for on a weekly basis.
Chuck is one of them. (Fringe & Big Bang Theory are the other 2) I know I’m not alone because the message board on the Chuck recap article got hundreds of posts as soon as it was put onoline, and most of those people are the “devoted fans” you are talking about.

      • Eh about Chuck

Hey I used to be a DIE HARD Chuck fan and couldn’t wait until Monday for a new episode. But let’s be honest here, there’s something off about this season. I can’t put my finger on it bu I’m not enjoying it as much as I used to……As for 2 1/2 Men, used to watch it and tried watching it a few weeks back and had to turn. Years later and there’s nothing different about the show.

    • BigBoo

Oh yes, lets can one of the most original shows on TV now so we can have yet another doctor show, or another cop show, or another lawyer show, or another PI show, or another Dancing with my Bachelor reality show….

    • Heather P

I love Chuck. Never miss an episode. Very sick of Doctor, lawywer, and cop shows. A spy comedy that’s set in a big box store, there’s something we need more of.

  • Jerry

Either Charlie Sheen really doesn’t know he’s an @ss,or he knows and he doesn’t care.

Too bad he’s being “rewarded” for his idiocy by seeing his show maintain such high ratings. Now there’s no excuse to cancel it so we won’t have to see his scowling mug again anytime soon.

  • Lauren

I am so sick of everyone ragging on Two and a Half Men. It is not the greatest television of all time, but it is perfect if you need to sit, relax, and have a couple of great laughs on a Monday night after work. I am a female in my mid-20s and I find it hilarious, along with most of the the people I know. Some of my favorite TV shows are Arrested Developement, Deadwood, Rome, and Mad Men…so I know quality TV when I see it. However, Two and a Half Men is simple, easy to watch, and very funny….everyone just needs to get over it.

  • Faith

Harry’s Law is the best new show this season. Kathy Bates rocks!!!!

    • BigBoo

You obviously didn’t watch “The Walking Dead”.

    • asher

I really thought the first episode of Harry’s Law was very average, but I was interested enough to give it another shot. Imagine my surprise when the second episode was so much better than the first, and that last night’s episode was equally as quality as the second! I was not sure what ratings it was receiving, so I am so glad to learn they are solid. I sincerely hope it sticks around for awhile.
To BigBoo – I am not going to speak for Faith, but I do not have cable, so I would say Harry’s Law is the best new show of 2011 on network TV, IMO.

  • Lia

Harry’s Law is good and they better not even think about cancelling Chuck!

  • anonmous

    LIE TO ME IS AWESOME!

  • Spencer Sullivan

John Cryer is why i watch Two and a Half Men. I dont avidly fallow it but ill tune in when its on. Ive tried Chuck, personally i choose to pass on it.

  • Jake

CBS should call the show Two and a half ounces of cocaine !! You got a hit !!! And the show writes or has written itself !!!
