NBC has set a return date for The Event, and has tapped an A-list cinematographer to direct one pivotal episode.
EW has exclusively learned The Event is coming back on Monday, March 7, with a two-hour presentation, followed by Harry’s Law. After that, there’s nine more Event episodes to finish out the show’s first season.
Also, Janusz Kaminski — the Oscar-winning cinematographer behind a score of Steven Spielberg classics as Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, and War of the Worlds — has been tapped to direct episode 15.
Could No. 15 be when fans finally learn what “The Event” is?
Producers said last year that the title reference will be revealed in the latter half of the first season. Also, they’ve maintained that the season finale will conclude the current storylines in a satisfying manner (a different strategy than, say, ABC’s V, which is going for a cliffhanger).

P-hood is staying on Tues, right?
The article is about “The Event” not trash like “Parenthood” or “Chuck”!
Don’t you ever refer to Chuck or Parenthood as trash, Barry Manni-TROLL.
At least Chuck has a clearly defined structure, as opposed to the Event, which has so many tenuous plot points all supposedly related to the eponymous happening that they won’t tell us about because that would undo the whole point of the show. The Event is the kind of show that lets the writers act lazy and get away with all kinds of crap that wouldn’t work anywhere else instead of actually creating a defined universe of which we can make sense.
Now they only need writers and actors.
yeah… i know longer care what the event is. i checked out after the third or fourth episode. too many storylines that didn’t converge quickly enough and superfluous plots/characters that i never grew to care about.
you “know” longer care?
The show’s been up and down, but I do hope they can wrap things up. They know a 2nd season is unlikely, they might as well write a satisfying ending.
Isn’t Parenthood staying on Tuesdays for the end of its second season?
Isn’t Parenthood now staying put on Tuesday nights? I thought it’s move to Mondays was off?
So where’s Harry’s Law going if Parenthood is moving to Mondays?
NBC announced Harry’s Law was staying put, Parenthood still on Tuesdays.
Always amusing when readers like Kelly and N know more about what’s going on than the reporter.
There suppose to have 10 more left not 9 and when it returns is it two episodes or just one and a recap
Alex, please read the line correctly, “After that, there’s 9 more Event episodes to finish out the show’s first season.” That means after the new episode on March 7 there are 9 more episodes.
Yeah, I thought it was one and a recap too.
I’m on board the this stretch of episodes. This show is all potential that hasn’t come to fruition yet. Here’s hoping that it hits its stride soon!
Shows that are “all potential” never seem to reach it.
prediction: the renewal of this series for season 2 is not “the event” lol
This show smells like my underwear!
I love The Event. Looking forward to its return. I hope NBC at least lets the season’s remaining eps run even if the ratings aren’t stellar.
Awesome!!!
this show is pretty good but hopefully they pick up the pace in the next batch of eps. Some of the eps where good but some were really slow and dragged on.
