Image Credit: Lester Cohen/WireImage.comNow this just feels wrong: Two of the original Charlie’s Angels – Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd — told EW exclusively that they have not been asked to appear in the Angels reboot that’s in the works at ABC.
“They have obviously made a mistake!” joked Smith, while walking the red carpet for the 10th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards Monday in Beverly Hills. “I don’t know [whether I'd be interested]. It would depend on the role. Not sure I would want to repeat myself but it would depend on how they revisited the Angels concept. I think it is great. It could be a big hit if is well written and cast properly. It’s probably going to be fun to watch, either way.”
“They haven’t called me yet, either,” admitted Ladd. “The chemistry between the girls has to be right. That was really what it was about for us and what made our show so successful. People really enjoyed the chemistry we had together. And let’s face it — we were hot.”
EW checked and it turns out that Al Gough and Miles Millar – the Smallville scribes who are penning the reboot for ABC – have no plans to include the alums in the pilot that will feature Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh as the leading ladies.
ABC will decide in late April or early May whether to pick it up to series. So maybe the scribes will find a place for Kelly or Kris if the show makes the cut for fall? – With additional reporting from Carrie Bell

Heather Locklear couldn’t save the Melrose Place reboot. I see no reason to add these two.
LOL..”The 10th Annual Movies For Grownups Awards”. these actors can’t have enough award shows to toot their own horns=inflate egos.
Shelly Hack was the best angel.

Where the original characters are concerned, Sabrina (Kate Jackson) and Tiffany (Shelley Hack)–the smart ones–are the best bet to sort of anchor the new show. They could be government agents or criminal lawyers by now. Plus Kate has always been a good actress and Shelley is still THE stylish, fashionable and fun girl that her perfume ad made her famous for!
ABC will ask them when their ratings are in the basement.
Why in the world would the reboot need to add these two? If they want to establish their own identity, I say keep them away; besides, all that plastic surgery is distracting on film.
I’m not trying to start anything, but Cheryl Ladd is not an original Angel. Didn’t she come on after Farrah left?
As soon as I saw the first sentence, that was my immediate thought even before reading any further.
I believe they meant original as in original series, not the reboot. Cheryl was the 2nd longest serving Angel after Jaclyn.
Yeah, she replaced Farrah. But Farrah was only a regular in the first season. Cheryl Ladd was in 87 episodes compared to 29 episodes for Farrah, so I would say Ladd is close enough to an “original” Angel.
If any of the Angel’s from the 70′s show up, I might actually check out this show. Otherwise, it won’t even get a curiosity viewing.

Me too, Ladd kept the show going when Farrah walked. So many think ‘Angels’ was ‘The Farrah Show’.
Id watch it if any of the original actress were in it (im including Cheryl-but not Tanya/Shelley). Heck Id still jump Cheryl or Jaclyn, both amazing looking women!
The original was EPIC, the remake movies were brilliant, mainly because of the three strong actresses! This reboot already i am not excited, the cast yeah looks pretty but i dont see myself enjoying watchin them!

And what about Sabrina? Kate Jackson should be there. If it weren’t for Kate Jackson, there would be no “Charlie’s Angels.” The pilot was written for Kate to anchor. She was the only Emmy nominee, too.
True. If they were going to include any of the original angels, they would have to include Kate Jackson as well.
I do think that the “original angels” should make some kind of appearance in the reboot. If only to pass the baton, so to speak…

Apparenty not. Everything is being rebooted. Basically it means, ” We can’t come up with anymore ideas so we’re just going to redo movies and fairy tales.”
It makes perfect sense that they wouldn’t be included in the PILOT. They’re trying to seperate the show from the original and establish the new angels. The original ones would just be a distraction. Maybe if they get picked up they could work them in a small arc but that’s about it. It’s Charlie’s Angels, it should be about the current angels not the retired ones.
This reboot will not come close to the original. The three originals Farrah, Kate & Jaclyn then Cheryl were all awesome and they can’t be replaced period. This show was a hit, and yes jfms777 if it were for Kate there be would have not been a “Charlie’s Angels” …..I don’t believe this new reboot will take off, sorry! Miss you Kate, cannot wait to see your show coming up soon, you have many fans wanting to see you and read your book coming out in May 2011.
The reboot sounds like a repeat of the BIONIC WOMAN debacle all over again. These lovely ladies would be well advised to steer clear.
The Original Charlie’s Angels Forever!
It’s going to be an epic fail… nothing could match the first four angels.
I hope they don’t make the same mistake the recent “V” remake and not acknowledge what came before it.
To be fair, the original “V” series was pretty dreadful (though the original *miniseries* was rather good).
That fat “V” baby is my favorite thing about “V”! That is the cutest, happiest TV baby I’ve ever seen!
At least “V” has Jane Badler, playing her original character, too.
