The ladies of pawning are getting their own series on TLC.
The network has given a series order to Pawn Queens after trying out the concept in a special that aired back in November.
The special drew 1.2 million viewers, enough to land Queens an eight-episode series order. Now, like Extreme Couponing a few weeks back, the show is getting its own series.
Located right outside Chicago, businesswomen Minda and Nikki run the city’s pawn shop that caters to women. This boutique specializes in jewelry, vintage Barbie dolls, and one-of-a-kind antiques. Each episode of the Varuna TV-produced show has the women selling anything in order to help their fledgling company stay afloat.
Pawn Queens will premiere Thursday, May 5 at 10 p.m.
First a pawn show in Vegas. Then a gritty pawn show in Detroit. Now we are getting a specialize one for Chicago. What*s next? A pawn series about the rich and famous in Palm Springs? (Apologies to Palm Springs.)

your right,in my town to get $50.00 you will have to pawn a 50 inch flat screen and they dont want to pay that,all pawn shops should be banned and illegal they take advantage of the poor.
Yea good comment. Pawn shops are the oldest form of people being able to get loans based on collateral and, the reason pawn shops only give 25 to 50 % of what items are worth is otherwise people wouldn’t pay back the loans. There not retail stores. Its the fastest and easiest way to get money when someone is in need of fast money. Foe rent food gas and, if they didn’t exist some people who don’t have credit or piles of money wouldn’t be able to get by. How about you do some research before making stupid comments. Don’t take offense to this its your opinion and your entitled but your wrong. Suck it Marshall

yes that is what i would like to how they can pay so much for things and go to a shop around town and you might get 10.00 if you lucky
I like Pawn Stars and just started watching Hardcore Pawn which I like more than Stars. Well the reason they are making other pawning shows is because of the smash ratings they get and they are cheap to produce. I rather see 10 Pawn shows than Jersey Shore and half of the garbage that is spewed out.
How can this show work? Once they’re on TV and getting paid for the show. not to mention getting the “celebrity” exposure for the shop, they probably won’t have a struggling company anymore, right?
Obviously, the racks got them the series because the episodes themselves were pretty stupid. Cmon, what pawn shop “loses” an expensive diamond ring and has no money to replace it or to pay for items they buy on a given day from customers. If you don’t have a bankroll, you can’t be a pawn shop. This isn’t like the Bailey Building and Loan running on 2 one dollar bills…
This entire show is a fake. I talked with a pawn shop just down the road (less than half a mile) and the actual operators are males. The two ladies are actresses running off a script.
I’m glad they are giving this show a spot. At least as good as pawn stars.

I am a female pawnbroker in Northern California, I have 8 locations I oversee. While shows like PawnStars has been AWESOME for the pawn industry as a whole, it is NOTHING like the real deal. It will be interesting to see if these ladies are ‘faking it’ or not!
OMG! this show is so fake! The worst acting ever. Makes “The Hills” look real. The lost ring and everyone’s reaction to it, including the owner of the ring. Fake fake fake! The “store” doesn’t even look real, hardly anything in it. How the show got picked up I have no idea. I won’t watch.
I give this one 3or4episodes and it’s gone unless Obama has hand in it. You are stooping to an all time low with this one,give us a break.
