Puppy Bowl draws 9.2 million viewers

That’s a helluva lot of people watching puppies.

Mind you, that 9.2 million is spread across all 12 hours of Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl VII Sunday marathon. It’s one episode repeated over and over again, not an actual 12-hour show — which would require supplying the pups with a steady dose of Adderall to maintain the necessary level of perky adorableness. Also the marathon started at 3 p.m.; isn’t there something kind of weird/sad about somebody watching frolicking puppies at 2:30 in the morning?

The actual premiere airing drew 1.7 million. Those numbers are also up 60 percent from last year.

Left the Puppy Bowl on for my dog while I made a Costco run. Came home to find him barking at the TV, wagging his tail and cheering on his favorites. It is a cute distraction for him while I was away.

      That is so cute!

  • LOL

    More interesting than Fox News.

    • Billie

      Ha!

    • etm

      Smarter too.

    • N

Definitely more intelligent/redeeming than Jersey shore…

Brownie Sundae was too cute for words and better then the half time lame show could ever be.

  • Al Lergic

Would have been better if they would have euthanized those ugly flea infested wannabe kittens.

    • Shannon

Are you referring to the Black Eyed Peas?
Oh. The kitty half-time show. Man, you’re cruel.

    • Karina

      Harsh much?

  • Maureen

Oh gosh, Brownie Sundae was adorable! I loved “Two-face” too. We start our Super Bowl Sunday every year by watching Puppy Bowl. Puts us all in a great mood!!!

  • cj

2:30 AM EST is 11:30 PM PST. I was still watching at 10 PM PST – there wasn’t much else on. Two Face was my absolute favorite!

    • Shannon

Yep. He had a lazy charm about him.

    • Stephanie

He was my favorite too! That face was adorable.

I love the Puppy Bowl. Brownie Sundae FTW!

    • Shannon

I loved when Brownie Sundae curled up with his head on the football and went to sleep.

      • ea

I liked Big Red. Looks like my dog.

  • Joseph

I loved the two brothers who were constantly tackling each other.

  • Tony

It was about 4 trillion times better than the Black Eyed Peas

    • Shannon

Definitely. And no audio or technical difficulties.

    • Tess Tickles

      Rubber balls and liquor?

  • dave

the puppy bowl was cute as usual . the only thing missing was the late great Harry Callas announcing.

  • whatevs

Puppy Bowl! I ordered my pizza and curled up on my bed to watch it. Adorableness is always welcome.

  • Jay

It’s too bad that the rumors of performance enhancing dog treats are threatening to ruin the game. In all seriousness, what was the name of the female pit with the circled eye? I wanna say it was named “13″. Anyway, my girlfriend and I fell in love with that dog. She was so dang cute!

  • JoeC

I am a football fanatic, and I can tell you I always watch the Puppy Bowl instead of the SB Pre-game! This years Puppy Bowl was great; gotta love the tailgaters!

  • Bobbo

CB was a well deserved MVP. I had him in my pool of 1…

    • anona muss

I loved CB! What a happy little guy.

  • AC

Jesus, this is a real thing? I just thought people were messing with my on Sunday. 9.2 million people watched this? Now I know how Two and a Half Men gets so many viewers.

    • S

Oh yes, because people that love puppies clearly love Charlie Sheen and his brand of comedy. Get your head out of your as*. Puppies are adorable.
