'Smallville' vet joining 'Warehouse 13' -- EXCLUSIVE

aaron-ashmoreImage Credit: Haidee Malkin/WireImage.comWarehouse 13 has a new agent.

Former Smallville actor Aaron Ashmore is joining Syfy’s summertime hit as a series regular.

Ashmore will play Steve Jinks, a young ATF agent with an ability to tell when somebody is lying. Jinks is recruited by Mrs. Frederic (CCH Pounder) to be Pete’s (Eddie McClintock) new Warehouse 13 partner as they search for mysterious artifacts.

As fans know, last year’s second season finale had Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) quitting her job at the Warehouse after being betrayed by HG Wells (Jaime Murray). As for whether Kelly will appear on the show again … well, that’s a good question. We’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Season 3 of Warehouse 13 will have 13 new episodes this summer. Last season the series averaged 3.4 million viewers, making it Syfy’s most-watched show.

Ashmore’s Jimmy Olsen was killed off on Smallville in 2009. He’s also appeared on shows like In Plain Sight, Veronica Mars, and Fringe. Random factiod: Warehouse 13 received an Emmy nomination last year for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music.

oh thats just great now his going to be in one of my other favorite tv shows sigh -_- …. he was annoying as jimmy with his relationship with chloe -_- … now i have to see him in Warehouse 13 -_- just freaking great -_- … myka should of never quit at the end of last season sigh

  • AltDave

I wonder why they went with a male agent this time? Unless they hope that Myka might return one day, or that Claudia might start doing more field work. We’ll see how this works out.

    • whereisit

He is replacing Claudia, who left the show for NCIS:LA.

      • Gwen

The actress on NCIS: LA is Renee Smith, who looks like the actress who plays Claudia on Warehouse 13 but is not the same person. Allison Scagliotti (Claudia) is listed on imdb.com as part of the upcoming season of Warehouse 13.

      • whereisit

WARNING: That was a joke going over your head.

    • Bill

I had hoped he’d partner up with Claudia. I don’t understand this choice of a male partner.

  • Deanna

Yay, my family loves Warehouse 13! Thanks for the news.

  • Michelle

Oh, that’s interesting. I can’t imagine the show without Myka! I’m betting she comes back, re-teams with Pete and then the new guy partners with Claudia. That would be fun.

    • Snsetblaze

That’s too bad – I thought the “quitting” would be temporary. The two actors had a lot of chemistry and her character had come a long way. I guess we will have to see.

      • whereisit

Soon as they can fix what is going on with her upper lip she will return.

    • YourName

…the show without Joanne Kelly / Myka Bering will not be the same anymore…the chemistry between Bering and lattimer is one of the show key points for me…i hope she will come back after a few episodes…otherwise…this gonna be like Supernatural where its 2 male partner venturing out together…not saying its wrong its just lost its weight…

  • Patrick

I can only hope that he starts out as Pete’s new parter only until Myka comes back. Without Joanne, the show just won’t be the same, and I am not a big fan of Aaron Ashmore. I have been a big fan of the show for the first two seasons, I really hope SyFy isn’t screwing it up to the point where I have to walk away.

    • kyle

      it’s sanctuary all over again…

      • YourName

…are u referring to the departure of Ashley Magnus? …. that was a big bummer too…

    • Rebekah

I agree. If Myka doesn’t come back the show loses it’s flavor for me and I’m gone.

      • DR

        No Myka, I’m gone.

  • Eve

I love this show. I did not know there was a chance Kelly would not return. that is very disappointing. She and EM are so funny together. Kind of like brother and sister.

    • ks

I love them together I guess we will see how this worksout

  • Duane S

Only one women left now that’s male bonding lol still not seen all of season 2 aleast now I now what happens (p.s do not know where to put commons and stuff)

    • Snsetblaze

Well other than Claudia there is still Leena (Lita, Lena?) and Mrs. Fredricks.

      • Duane S

Ops for about but the young crazy one is hotter like her too

  • wearelostbeth

glad to hear the are expanding the cast (a good sign from the network?) but srsly hope Joanne Kelly is back ASAP. love her & pete 2gether. like the idea of this guy being claudias partner

  • elle

I want to see if Aaron’s twin brother Shawn will have a guest stint. They both have such different acting styles. It would be fun to see them together.

    • faxman526

They were together in a very good episode of Fringe. look for the eposide called ‘Amber31422′

  • seattlemary

I don’t think I’d be very interested in the show without the Pete and Myka team. I loved their back and forth and even though the whole show was pretty trite and not very well written, I thought the on screen chemistry made up for its many shortcomings. The episode where they switched bodies, was written very heavy handed and was lacking of sophistication, but I found that I was laughing at all the predictable antics which I think is a testament to those actors.

  • SunKrux

I have no doubt that Joanne Kelly will be back as Myka. I honestly believe if Joanne had left the show, we would have heard about it by now. I don’t think this new guy will be around all that long.

BUT if Joanne has left (which I honestly don’t think she has) the show will not be the same. They will probably lose a lot of fans, I know I’m not sure I’ll stick around if Joanne leaves. She’s my fav and Pete without Myka is like Castle without Beckett. DO. NOT. WANT.

  • Zoe

    *sadness*

Without Myka, the show is dead to me. I don’t mind them bringing in someone and changing it up a bit if it means we get to see her journey that brings her back, but uhm… yeah. She’s by far my favourite character.

  • Nick

As long as Claudia is still there, it’ll still be a great show to me!

    • ks

      and Artie :)

  • Gandalf47

If Joanne Kelly does not return, I don’t think I will continue to watch. Part of what makes Warehouse 13 fun for me to watch is the repartee between them. Part of the appeal of Warehouse 13 is the “goofiness” of the whole premise, and the interaction of the characters. I wasn’t really happy that they added HG Wells (and her role in Sparticus has REALLY ruined the HG Wells character for me, even though I thoroughly enjoyed her in Sparticus). Bring back Joanne Kelly!

    • AltDave

Thank you for pointing out that Jaime Murray connection! It’s been bugging the heck out of me where I had seen Gaia before.

  • John

Myka is not leaving the show. How stupid are you people, its a cliffhanger. It is what happens at the end of the season, and leads into the other season. Its like you people have never watched a tv show before in your lives.

    • Zoe

Well, I have watched a tv show before in my life, thank you very much. It was called Sanctuary (and I saw someone had already mentioned it above), and they killed the main character when they came back for the new season after the cliffhanger. I have zero trust in Syfy after that.

      • adifferentblog

which mai character was killed sanctuary?

    • adifferentblog

normaly the “leaving the show” by a main character should be known by now, and most of time even before a season ending it would be discussed on all the publications that talk about by the likes of Aussielo and others. It’s just a cliffhanger to make us watch the next season.
