'The Office': See the trailer for Michael Scott's movie 'Threat Level Midnight' from tonight's episode -- EXCLUSIVE

Office-Carell-MidnightImage Credit: Chris Haston/NBCGreat (Michael) Scott! Our dear Dunder Mifflin boss is quite the writer-producer-director-actor! In tonight’s episode of The Office, Michael assembles the troops to show them the movie that he’s been toiling on for years, and as you can see from this trailer below, it just might’ve been worth the wait. In Threat Level Midnight, the villainous Goldenface (Jim Halpert, playing wildly against type) hides a bomb in a stadium and takes the concession stand workers hostage, and there’s only one man who can save the day: Michael Scarn! Cheer as America’s newest action hero dispenses lines like “It’ll take a lot more than a bullet to the brain, lungs, heart, back, and balls to kill Michael Scarn….” and “I’m part Bruce Wayne, part Bruce Willis, and part Bruce Vilanch!” Bite your fist as Jan Levenson is introduced as Jasmine Windsong! Remember to breathe while you watch a close-range shootout on iceskates! Check it out below!

Asked what viewers should expect from Michael’s passion project, B.J. Novak — who wrote the episode as well as Threat Level Midnight — sums up: “Action. Heart. Comedy. Music. Dance. And very violent wish fulfillment involving Toby. I don’t think cinema has seen a hostage murdered with such relish. We actually spent $10,000 on the shot of Toby’s head exploding, and we establish that Michael spent a similar amount.” Novak notes that the episode was the “most conceptually ambitious” in the show’s history; more than 50 percent of the half-hour is comprised of footage from the movie. (The full film, which is 25 minutes long, will be made available on the season 7 DVD.) If all of that wasn’t reason enough to watch, Karen (Rashida Jones), Jan (Melora Hardin), Roy (David Denman), and Packer (David Koechner) return tonight. Oh, and don’t miss the very end of the episode if you wish to enjoy Andy Bernard’s “Will Smith-style closing credits theme song” for Threat Level Midnight.

EW needs to eff off with making us watch commercials to see a preview (i.e. ANOTHER commercial.

    • Joe

thats not up the EW, they linked it from nbc.com so its nbc’s commercial

    • Zam

Also they are not making you do anything.

  • Glenn

If it hasn’t happened yet, consider the shark now jumped.

    • Sarah Martin

Nope. The Office is outside the realm of shark jumping. It’s done so much that’s been panned by critics, but it still keeps ticking. I think those writers move to their own beat, not always doing what is canned tv writing procedure. I think they could do almost anything and it’d be cool. I remember when Michael drove his car into the lake on the gift basket episode, and people were like “pssst…lame. shark jump.” And they were wrong then. And now. So there you go.

      • Cody

Hold on a second here. This show has not been panned by critics. I know it isn’t as good as it was early on but critics agree its still pretty good.

    • Ed

Yeah, God forbid they do something different seeing as this is Steve’s last season and all.

    • D

The expression of jumping the shark has jumped the shark.

this looks way more awesome than a lot of actual movies that are out/ are coming out soon.

    • Bethany

I’d definitely rather see this than a lot of recent movies, but only because it’s the famous Michael Scarn. Sounds like a good way to start to wrap up Michael’s time in the office. Had it happened last year, I don’t think I would have appreciated it as much, but this should be a good addition. Looking forward to our returning guest stars tonight!

  • Amelia

I am actually looking forward to tonights Office! (It has been awhile…)

  • michelleeee

THIS LOOKS SO GREAT. and by “looks” i mean it literally because my work computer doesn’t have sound so I couldn’t actually hear it.

  • Scooter

Technically Pam’s last name should be Halpert not Beesly

  • Jeff

This show used to be about strange characters in a mundane office environment. They ran out of realistic story lines long ago… it’s still funny, but left the concept in favor of absurdity. Same thing with “Community” which didn’t even stick with the premise for one season.

    • Anthony

Community never once tried to stick to realism. That was the entire point of the show.

Hear that? That was the idea going over your head.

      • Thalia

        I love you, Anthony.

    • Holly

Realism? Did you watch the Paintball episode? Or the Christmas one? Have you seen Abed?

  • Dan

Damn it! I was waiting for the “Great Scott” at the end :(

  • Brittany

I wish this was a real movie! Sure, it’d be dumb but Office fans would love it anyway, thats what makes it great :)

  • Michael

    Jan. Jan!!!! That is all.

  • Chelsea

Reminds me a bit of “The Office” I used to to love. Close, but no cigar unfortunately. I really want the show to go out with some dignity. It’s grasping at this point and it’s hard to see.

    • Ryan

Oh you’re so cool. Too cool for school, Chelsea.

      • Chelsea

Sweetheart, you need to get a grip. All I’m saying is the show used to be a whole lot better and I miss how it used to be.

      • Devin Faraci

Have fun watching tripe like Big Bang Theory!

  • Amy

Come on! How can you not be excited about this episode? It is old-school Office with Roy, Karen, and Pam’s old hairstyle. I loved the episode where they read the screenplay and am so glad to actually see it in the flesh.

  • Thom

I’d rather see an episode of them watching Michael’s ridiculous movie than another of them watching Glee.

  • angela

geez people lighten up lol its a freakin comedy. take things too seriously much?
