Aspiring pop-stars won’t need to stand in line for their shot at stardom anymore. For Mark Burnett’s new NBC singing competition, The Voice, potential contestants can showcase their pipes from home, using their home computer’s webcam. The nifty “Voice Online Audition Tool” records performances and rates them on a scale from 1 to 10 — the highest-rated submissions will draw consideration from The Voice‘s casting team. Wannabes have until March 1 to record their singing on the NBC website.
The Voice, which will be hosted by Carson Daly when it airs this spring, will place special emphasis on vocal talent, as the show’s judges will initially select contestants without seeing them perform.

next up on NBC….The Idea, where people at home get to pitch tv shows……..cause we are out of them.
lololololol
No wonder NBC sucks
I think that Mark Burnett is really the anti-Idol and wants to handle his talent show this way. I think he got sick of Idol’s audition shows which go too long and are annoying with the humiliation and embarrassment of being not chosen to go to Hollywood. And the judges not seeing the contestants when they perform? That’s different–really ends the put-downs and insults that Simon Cowell always did when he was on Idol.
Boring news. But the show is gonna ROCK!
Btw, how are they “blind auditions” if we can SEE them and RATE them??? Dumb move.
let the auditions go longer
I just turned off the preview. This show made me want to puke.
i couldn’t have said it any better
this is reality garbage, who cares
The Voice….a terrible idea, a terrible show. So many of these shows pander to the lowest common denominator
