Image Credit: Justin Lubin/FoxIt was teased at the end of last week’s episode, but now Sony has confirmed that the Glee cast will release two original songs on Glee: The Music, Volume 5, on sale March 8.
Titled “Loser Like Me” and “Get It Right,” the tracks are the first original music to produced for the show. “Loser Like Me,” an ensemble piece, was co-written by pop vet Max Martin, who’s written for the likes of Britney Spears, Pink, and the Backstreet Boys. “Get It Right” is a solo ballad that will be sung by Lea Michele’s character Rachel Berry. Both will be featured in the March 15 episode, fittingly titled “Original Song.”

At least Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz have been on Broadway at one time or another. You may not like pop songs but they can sing.

aa….lets be real…i dont like glee…but admit it..they can sing, they are highly talented. its just the show writers dont know how to write a compeling story that sticks more than 1 episode. but they can sing.

Considering that they do 30% standards, and their other songs are a mix of genres, including songs that aren’t current or ever were Top 40, I think you’re blathering.

I like Max Martin, but this is exactly the opposite of what should be happening. He’s probably dusting off some old, shelved Britney B-side and calling it new.

I don’t think Max Martin is dusting out some shelved Britney B-side. He’s always thinking ahead with his songs for artists and will most likely give the Glee group a fresh new song.
i have no interest in original songs.. i like the glee songs for their covers and to re-discover songs.

That was fine when they were doing great covers instead of crappy top 40 hits. Now, not so much. Bring on the original music.
If you find this garbage impressive, you should check out some local bar’s they do the same thing as glee every week im sure, It’s called karaoke should look into it.
I agree. It’s not as if the actors who play the characters have written the songs themselves. It’s much more fun to see their take on existing songs. Also, I like that they’re doing Queen covers on Volume 5. If “Fat Bottomed Girls”, how about covering the other song from that double A-sided single, “Bicycle Race”? (“I want to ride my bicycle, La la la la la la…” — oops, forgot the lyrics.)

Well, I don’t like this at all. They are talented, no doubt about that, but I love to hear them covering song. Some songs are tributes and other are just for fun (like the adorkable Sam singing “Baby” with a boy band routine). The original song idea appears to be something designed to make more money… I just hope it isn’t a cheesy song like the ones they sing in AI finals, but let’s wait and see.
