'The Bachelor' charms up a good audience; 'Mother' on CBS scores night's best rating

How-Mother-BlissImage Credit: Karen Neal/CBSABC eked out a win on Monday with another fresh edition of The Bachelor, which earned a 3.3 rating/9 share in adults 18-49 – up +14% from last week — and 10.3 million viewers, according to early results. The good vibrations spilled over to Castle, which earned a 2.6/7 (up 18%) and 9 million viewers. Overall, the net posted an 18-49 win with a 3.1/8.

CBS was tops in viewers (10.1 million) and followed thisclose in the key demo with a 3.0/8. The network usually dominates on Mondays but it was forced to air a repeat to Two and A Half Men while the comedy remains on hiatus. As a result, the repeat earned a 3.0/8 and 11.5. Still, not too shabby considering how CBS did with its other shows that featured originals. How I Met Your Mother was the No. 1 show for the night in 18-49 (3.6/10) but that’s down 3% from last week. The second outing of Mad Love earned a 2.8/7, down 7% from last week. Mike & Molly got a 3.2/8, down 16%, while  Hawaii Five-0 earned a 2.7/8, down 4% — a series low.

Fox was third in 18-49 (2.8/7). House earned a 3.5/9 and 10.4 million, followed by The Chicago Code (2.1/6, 8 million). NBC mustered up a fourth place finish (1.5/4), with Chuck tying its series low of 1.7/4, followed by The Cape (1.2/3) and Harry’s Law (1.7/5). The latter drama starring Kathy Bates was NBC’s most-watched show for the night with 8.6 million viewers.

On the CW, Gossip Girl was up 20% versus last week in adults 18-34 (1.0/3) while 90210 was up 11% in the same demo.

    Never heard of ‘em.

chicago code is bringing in Lie to Me numbers. I feel Lie to Me has way more potential upside in the ratings and can be a perrenial winner for Fox on a worldwide scale. I don;t think chicago code is a keeper.

I hope this is true…Lie to Me and Human Target are two of my favorite shows and I hope Chicago Code doesn’t bump them off next year’s schedule!

i was expecting more from chicago code- gave it a shot but i’m bailing now…detroit 127 does it much better!

I’m glad to see “How I Met Your Mother” doing so well, but I sure wish “Chuck” was pulling in better numbers as well.

I hope NBC keeps “Harry’s Law.” They have the worst series of the Big 3 + FOX, but this one shows promise. And Kathy Bates is a treasure.

Me too! I love that show

thats sad to hear about chuck. last night’s episode was hilarious.

Come on CHUCK fans. As usual, this show is on the bubble for next year. Fans need to watch it Mondays at 8:00, not on DVR or other sources. Keep CHUCK for a 5th season!!!

    • LOL

      CHUCK ME!

I don’t understand the lack of love either. Chuck has been one of the funnest, most enjoyable shows on TV for the past 4 years!

I completely agree! I have no idea why Chuck is rating so low as it is seriously one of the best shows on TV. Please Chuck fans, rally for a 5th Season!!!

How I Met Your Mother is the best of that CBS Monday comedy block. Even better than even Two and a Half Men’s current set of shows. Last night’s show was good and funny with the flashback scenes and flash forward scenes, an interesting back and forth shift.

Kathy Bates has been wonderful in everything I’ve ever seen her in and this remains true of Harry’s Law. Another show that really needs viewers to keep it going. Take a chance, you’ll love her!!

  • Ada

    Castle! It was awesome!

  • Scott

I love watching Chuck, but I DVR it for watching the next day. Problem is the Nielsen folks who don’t watch. Why are DVR stats not included in the rating determination! That would help quite a few “on the bubble” shows to say the least.

  • jake

they need to move harry’s law NOW. it’s such a difficult time slot and it can be used to bring viewers to other shows. move it to 9!

  • margita

I still can’t get into chicago code. it’s missing something, and i still find it rather ordinary. Lie to Me and Human Target and Fringe had better not suffer because of this new show!

  • Dave

It’s pathetic that a repeat of Two and a Half Men still gets double the amount of viewers than an episode of Community or Parks and Rec.

    Regarding this week’s Chuck:

Did anyone else notice that the special effects, camera work, and overall production value appeared to go WAY down this week? It was patently clear when they were using stunt doubles (the stunt double when Sarah was falling off the horse had a CLEARLY blurred-out face). There were tons of cheesy and cheap looking camera angles. Nothing was seamless. It looked like they tried to start using CGI for Chuck’s “moves.” It almost looked like a fan-made episode.

Please tell me other people noticed. I love Chuck, and I would be really upset to know the show’s quality is going to go down for some reason. There were so many sweet and funny moments in this week’s episode, but I was so horrified by how cheap it looked, it was hard to see anything else. I hope this is just a fluke, and that their budget hasn’t been slashed or something.

I want to know what has happened to one of my favorite shows! Did anyone else notice?
