'Lost' star Josh Holloway to star in 'Community' finale -- EXCLUSIVE

community-hollowayImage Credit: NBC; Angela Weiss/Getty ImagesSawyer, its about time you showed up on TV again! EW has learned exclusively that Josh Holloway — who played James “Sawyer” Ford on ABC’s Lost — is in the process of closing a deal to make a cameo in Community’s two-part season finale. It’s set for May but no date has been announced.

Holloway’s character will emerge as a mysterious figure who shows up on campus during another game of paintball. The two-parter is a sequel, of sorts, to “Modern Warfare” — last year’s memorable episode that began with the Dean announcing a prize for a game of paintball. It devolved into campus-wide battle.

There were some rumors floating around Hollywood that Holloway was a contender for NBC’s remake of The Rockford Files, but the project never emerged from development hell. The actor ultimately signed a deal to co-star in the sequel Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

    Cool! On both accounts.

It’ll be good to see Sawyer again and the paintball episodes was one of my favorites.

Can’t wait to see Chang’s revenge.

    • LOL

      Best news of the day!

      • avenger

        Correction, best news evvverrrr!

      • Rock Golf

Well, maybe not ever, but compared to the rest of the spoilers, streets ahead.

      • Emilio

That episode make me and some of my friends start playing paintball. No sex at the end thou.

  • RP

Surprising and awesome. I am so pumped for this finale it’s silly.

  • Troy & Abed in the Morning

I can’t wait to see this episode!

  • JLC

Interesting. I think the crawl at the bottom of Abed & Troy’s “election night” show last week stated there would NOT be another paintball tournament. Looks like Harmon is setting us up.

    • kate

I thought so too! So glad that it was lying. I loved that scrolling newsfeed at the bottom, by the way. :)

  • sawyersmother

It’s about time. I have missed him.

  • Kate

I didn’t even watch Lost but I’m excited to see what Josh brings to Community!

  • Mae

i cannot wait for abed lost jokes they will surely work in.

    • miss k

      Agreed!

  • Juliette

This is amazing! Two of my favourite shows collide.

    • Yngwie Mackadangdang, Jr.

I know, right? If they could work a cast member from Arrested Development into this ep, I think my head would explode.

      • randy

        AMEN!

      • elizabeth

Calling Jesse, er, Michael Cera! (Anyone else catch the one funny joke at the Oscars before dozing off?)

  • Chaz

Oh Sawyer my beautiful Sawyer where have you been????

  • anna

    Oooh as Jeff’s dad, maybe?

    • angie

are you blind – holloway and “jeff” are practically the same age.

Can’t wait to see this episode tho – should be a good one…

    • Meredith

Probably more like his HOT brother. He’s pretty young! Did I mention HOT??

    • JacuzziSplot

Totally calling him being Jeff’s long lost brother or something. The attractiveness probably runs in the family.

      • elizabeth

Long lost brother. ROFLMAO. Lost on a tropical island, perhaps?

    • Mae

prob his brother that hooks up with annie or britta. or i wouldnt even mind if he hooked up with troy!HOT

  • Monty

Loved the Lost reference in the Christmas episode. I will be looking forward to this! Liva Community!

  • Johnification

The real question is, how much gratuitous shirtless time will he clock?

    • James

Well there was shirtless Jeff in the last one. It only makes sense to have shirtless Sawyer in this one. LOL

  • Angie

Hated Lost, but love Community. Sawyer always looked handsome, tough. It will be interesting to see what they have planned for him.

  • Color Me Impressed

I’m excited to this; I haven’t seen him in anything but LOST (which he was always excellent in) and I’m looking forward to perhaps seeing his range.

  • katie

great, now i might have to actually tune in to this show.
not that it’s bad, i tried watching the first three episodes.
but, i’ll give it a chance for sawyer.

    • Nathalie

You really should give it another shot. It improved drastically after episode five or so and has been skyrocketing toward perfection ever since.

    • Johnification

I did the same thing you did, I gave up after three episodes…then randomly watched again at the end of the year, and hoo boy, what a difference. “Modern Warfare” was the one that turned me around. Also, while you’re at it, watch something from season 2 or 3 of Parks and Recreation if you wrote that one off for the same reasons (as I did). You won’t regret it.

      • AC

I made the same mistake with Parks and Rec. Just got caught up, and can’t figure out why I stopped in the first place. Both Community and Parks and Rec are the best comedies on TV.

      • LOL

Parks and Rec season 1 was pretty bad. I didn’t even make it all the way through. However, season 2 and season 3 (so far) have been great. If you didn’t like Community at first, try again. Shows really do improve if given time to do so.

      • Maddie

I did the exact thing with Parks and Rec and then I decided to give it another shot when season 2 started and have been lovin’ it ever since. I’ve been with Community from the begging though and have never regretted a minute of it.

    • Yngwie Mackadangdang, Jr.

ohhhh, you should definitely give it another go- I didn’t get into it until way into the middle of the first season, and now I will go out on a limb and say it’s my favorite TV comedy ever.

      • JJ

I think it’s mine too! Love the name, by the way. Did we ever find out if Vaughn is his first name or his last name?

    • Meredith44

Same. I tried to like Community, but it really wasn’t my thing. (I prefer dramas to comedies and only watch/love a few. Like poor, departed Better Off Ted.) Now, however, I’ll have to watch these episodes. I miss having a Sawyer fix!
