CBS and Fox tie for the win Tuesday; 'V' holds up despite tough lead-in

Categories: Television, TV Ratings

No-Ordinary-FamilyImage Credit: Michael Desmond/ABCFox and CBS tied for first place among adults 18-49 on Tuesday. An original episode of Glee earned a 4.2 rating/12 share in adults 18-49, while Raising Hope posted a 2.2/6 and 5.5 million. The new comedy Traffic Light stumbled at 9:30, however, earning a 1.5/4 and 3.5 million. (Got a pink slip handy, anyone?)

CBS was definitely first for the night in viewers, with NCIS once again finishing as the most-watched show of the night with 19.4 million. The drama earned a 3.7/10, followed by NCIS: LA (3.3/9, 16.8 million) and The Good Wife (2.0/6, 11.4 million).

NBC was third for the night in 18-49, with the The Biggest Loser weighing in with a 2.7/8 and 7.7 million, followed by Parenthood (1.9/5, 5 million) Speaking of which, did you watch? Dang that Minka Kelly is a cutie and I didn’t mind at all that she’s a potential home wrecker.

ABC came in fourth, with No Ordinary Family tying its series low (1.5/4, 5 million), V earning a 1.9/5 — up 6% from last week — and 5.3 million, followed by Detroit 1-8-7 (1.2/3 and 5. 2 million). Lindsay Lohan blows off Letterman? Will not deliver Top Ten list after all

Categories: Television, TV Biz

Lindsay-LohanImage Credit: Amy Graves/WireImage.comLindsay Lohan will not visit Thursday’s Late Show with David Letterman after all.

After announcing yesterday the troubled actress would appear to read the show’s signature Top Ten list, this morning CBS issued a follow-up release saying “we made a mistake.”

“Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday’s Late Show with David Letterman, as had been previously announced. We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future.”

Tough to imagine the veteran Late Show booking team making such a mistake, but then again, anything goes in LohanLand.

We can see Dave now: “Top 10 Reasons Lindsay Lohan Didn’t Come on My Show”…

Fox on 'Fringe,' 'Human Target' renewal chances

Categories: Scoop, Television, TV Biz

fringeImage Credit: Image Credit: Smallz and Raskind/FoxHow does Fox feel about Fringe’s performance on Friday so far?

Quite enthusiastic.

“I’m so psyched about it,” says Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly. “It does go to show you the loyalty of the genre audience, when you get the right show. I’m so grateful to that audience, I’d like to shake their hands. We have a lot of passion for that show here.”

Now, this interview was just before last Friday’s second-in-row dip, but most other shows also fell that night and one rating does not a reputation make. As for Human Target …. READ FULL STORY »

Kristin Cavallari talks her guest spot on ABC's 'The Middle' tonight

Categories: Television, The Middle

KRISTIN-CAVALLARIImage Credit: Eric McCandless/ABCMTV’s long-running reality series The Hills may have ended last summer, but that hasn’t slowed star Kristin Cavallari down. Just this week, Cavallari appeared on the vaunted RuPaul’s Drag Race as an interview subject for the contestants (read my recap of the episode!). Tonight, she’s got a guest spot on ABC’s critically lauded comedy The Middle, which stars Patricia Heaton as the mother to three rambunctious, wacky kids. Cavallari phoned up EW to chat about her role, as well as her future plans in the television sphere. You might be surprised about where you’ll find her in the future (hint: not in front of the camera…much).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Were you a fan of The Middle before this guest spot came up? How did you get involved?
KRISTIN CAVALLARI:
I had seen it a few times but didn’t watch it every single week, so when I found out I was going to be on it, I Tivo’ed it, and now I watch every episode and I’m really into it now. READ FULL STORY »

'Gossip Girl' scoop: Life will get 'a little darker' for Eric

Connor-PaoloImage Credit: Nicole Rivelli/The CWI’ve never met a Gossip Girl fan who doesn’t think Eric (Connor Paolo) is the most together/sane/adult character on that show — and he can’t even legally vote yet.

But as recent episodes have indicated, Eric is about to be faced with some very adult challenges. Perhaps, crushing challenges.

“I think it does get a little darker before an eventual dawn,” says Paolo. “So I guess you can look forward — or not look forward to — things spiraling a little bit more for Eric and [there will be] a few things he’ll have to deal with”

Among them? An all-too-familiar fight with depression following the betrayal and blackmail by Damien (Kevin Zegers).  READ FULL STORY »

CBS News' Lara Logan in hospital after sexual assault in Egypt

Categories: Politics, Television

Lara-LoganImage Credit: CBSCBS News announced Tuesday that correspondent Lara Logan — who was on location in Egypt covering the protests against now former President Hosni Mubarak – was beaten and sexually assaulted after being mobbed Feb. 11. According to CBS, after President Mubarak vacated his seat, Logan was separated from her crew when a group of over 200 protesters erupted into celebration. “She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers,” CBS News wrote on their website. The reporter returned to the U.S. the following day, and is currently recovering in a hospital. “There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time,” CBS News wrote.

Logan is not the only journalist to have been injured while in Egypt; during the protests, CNN’s Anderson Cooper was attacked by Mubarak supporters and Fox News correspondent Greg Palkot was hospitalized after he was severely beaten.
