The paramedics declared him dead. There was a funeral. Wife Lily cried crocodile tears. Viewers had a freakin’ cow.

And now what’s this? An appearance from his “ghost” in today’s episode?

EW is here to answer some of your questions — or to possibly create more. READ FULL STORY »

Monday ratings: Another great night for Charlie Sheen

Mad-LoveImage Credit: Sonja Flemming/CBSCBS had another great night on Monday, with Two and A Half Men scoring a win among total viewers and adults 18-49. It was the last original episode the network had in the can before the comedy went on a forced hiatus, so interest in Charlie Sheen and Co. remained strong: It was the most-watched show of the night with 14.5 million viewers, and averaged a timeslot-winning 4.2 rating/11 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates.

The comedy also does well in most adult demos, especially the older ones: It earned a 8.4/15 among 50+ and an 8.1/14 among 55+. So the next time you’re at gramma’s for dinner, ask her if she likes the Charlie and his cute little nephew.

Overall, the network earned a 3.4/10 in the demo and 11.2 million viewers for the night.  The premiere of Mad Love posted a 3.0/8 and 8.8 million, followed by Mike & Molly (3.8/10, 13.1 million) and Hawaii Five-0 (2.8/8, 10.5 million).

Fox finished second for the night in the demo (2.7/8), though the second outing of The Chicago Code was down 17% from its premiere last week (2.0/5, 7.2 million).

Categories: Television, TV Biz

Production on his COPS-style A&E reality show Lawman may have been shut down last year when the actor was accused of illicit behavior, but now Deputy Seagal has now landed a new beat: Phoenix, Ariz., where controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio has welcomed the actor to resume shooting. As a result, A&E has greenlit a third season of Steven Seagal Lawman, with Seagal going on patrol in Maricopa County.

“I have a lot of friends in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, so when Sheriff Joe Arpaio invited me to join them, there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation,” Seagal said. “Certain crimes in Arizona are on the rise and now that I live there, I want to help the sheriff fight it the best way I know how. It’s an honor to serve.”

Hear that bad guys? Crime is on the rise, but Steven Seagal is coming to town. READ FULL STORY »

'Survivor: Redemption Island': Boston Rob warns Russell 'Don't burn any of my s--!' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

A funny thing happens at the start of part 4 of my joint interview with Survivor‘s Russell Hantz and Boston Rob Mariano. Rob, who has already gone to great lengths to convince Russell that he won’t be gunning for him when Redemption Island kicks off on Feb. 16, goes so far as to actually defend his former foe. However, even Rob has a breaking point, as seen when the subject of sock burning comes up. He warns Russell in no uncertain terms not to light fire to any of his clothing, with threats of fisticuffs if ignored. Check out the final installment of our exclusive on-location joint interview in the video player below (as well as the first 3 parts, which immediately follow). 'My Strange Addiction' blow dryer addict speaks; plus footage of the season finale -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

My-Strange-AddictionImage Credit: TLCI wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m addicted to TLC’s series My Strange Addiction, but I am pretty fond of the show, which highlights people’s obscure habits. The series has featured some pretty odd behaviors (from eating glass to consuming toilet paper), and thanks to its success, the network just confirmed they will renew the series for a second season.

In the premiere episode, viewers met Lori Broady, a woman who had been addicted to sleeping with her blow dryer since she was eight years old. After a long battle, Broady finally kicked the dryer out of her bed and attributes part of that success to appearing on the show. She called up EW with addiction recovery expert Dr. Mike Dow (who also appears on TLC’s Freaky Eaters) to chat about the show. Read the interview below, and then watch an exclusive clip from the season finale, which airs Wednesday on TLC at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). The episode will feature Kimberly, who is addicted to laxatives; and Bianca, who craves pottery and ashes more than food or water. READ FULL STORY »

Aaron Sorkin to do a little social networking on '30 Rock' -- EXCLUSIVE

Categories: Casting, EW Exclusive, Scoop

aaron-sorkinImage Credit: Jonathan Fickies/Bloomberg/Getty ImagesBefore he goes behind the scenes of a cable news network with his HBO pilot, uber-writer Aaron Sorkin will go behind the scenes of a fictional sketch show on 30 Rock.

EW has learned exclusively that Sorkin — who will find out in two weeks whether his screenplay for The Social Network is deserving of an Oscar — will play himself in an episode that’s expected to air in March or April. As usual, insiders are tight-lipped about the actual plot, so let’s just assume Sorkin’s appearance will feature lots of artful yammering and long, continuous shots through the TGS halls.

Occasionally, Sorkin likes to appear in front of the camera. He had a bit part as an ad executive in The Social Network, along with a brief cameo recently on Entourage. He also performed quick spots in The American President and A Few Good Men, his other movies.

While racking up the awards for penning The Social Network, Sorkin has turned his attention to HBO — the possible home of his next TV show. If greenlit to series, the project (think Sports Night meets Countdown) would mark Sorkin’s return to the politically charged workplace drama series — subject matter that gave NBC one of its longest running hits with Sorkin’s The West Wing.

I’m social. You like to network. Follow me @EWLynette

'Arrested Development' creator's tips on how to get a sitcom cancelled

Mitch Hurwitz gave the UK paper the Guardian a list of tips on how to get your sitcom cancelled. At least, that’s what the headline said. It was actually more like a list of reasons why Arrested Development was, in Hurwitz’s view, too sophisticated for most Americans. See if you agree, here’s a few from the story:

1. Add a sprinkle of incest: They’ll never admit it, but viewers love sex. In fact, they love any sort of titillation, with the exception of incest. So focus on that.
