Below, the network’s scripted development chief Suzanne Patmore-Gibbs gamely answers our burning questions about some of this year’s most buzz-worthy projects…

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So is Poe pretty much what it sounds like from the logline?
PATMORE-GIBBS:
It has an element of Guy Ritchie’s version of Sherlock Holmes, an element of steampunk and a real sense of fun. This is before Poe’s darkest days. He has a sense of humor; he’s a believer surrounded by skeptics. The show in some ways bears a resemblance to Castle. One supporting character is a female who works at a newspaper, another, one of the first African-American doctors [both are fictional]. They’re people who are always being underestimated in society.

Poe wasn’t the most attractive guy. Will ABC have a sexy Poe? READ FULL STORY »

Groupon pulls Super Bowl commercials

Categories: TV Biz

Groupon, the bargain-consumer website whose Super Bowl commercial featured actor Timothy Hutton raving about discounted Tibetan fish curry, has announced they’ve pulled the controversial ads, which critics claimed made light of the plight of the Tibetan people and other humanitarian causes.

On his company’s blog, Groupon CEO Andrew Mason wrote, “We hate that we offended people, and we’re very sorry that we did — it’s the last thing we wanted. We’ve listened to your feedback, and since we don’t see the point in continuing to anger people, we’re pulling the ads. READ FULL STORY »

'Fringe': Joshua Jackson answers your burning questions about The First People, possible fatherhood, and the show's future -- EXCLUSIVE

Categories: Fringe, Sci-Fi, Television

Joshua-JacksonImage Credit: Liane Hentscher/FoxThere is absolutely nothing new we can tell you about tonight’s episode of Fringe. Not because we don’t know anything. It’s because we happen to know everything, as we were lucky enough to see “Immortality” in advance. We can confirm as accurate the one thing you probably already know (that the story is set in the “over there” world, home to war-mongering mastermind Walternate and secret agent Fauxlivia) and the one thing that’s been gossiped about all week (that something game-changingish does indeed go down) — and we’re going to leave it like that.

So let’s cut to the chase: Last week, we said that if you sent us questions for Joshua Jackson, we would get on the phone with him and get answers for you. This week, we deliver. READ FULL STORY »

InsideTV Podcast: Saying good riddance to Sammi on 'Jersey Shore', debating the sob stories of 'American Idol' and picking our fave 'Parks and Recreation' characters

Sammi and Ronnie may finally be over on MTV’s Jersey Shore, and that’s a good thing because we are so over Sammi and Ronnie. Ever since Miami they have been the biggest buzzkill on what is supposed to be a happy-go-lucky party hearty program. Now that Sammi has left the house, can these knuckleheads finally get back to the absurdity that made us fall in love with them in the first place (namely: creeping, peeing in public places, and wearing sunglasses to nightclubs)? Annie Barrett, Tim Stack, and yours truly break down the break-up on EW.com’s newly rechristened InsideTV Podcast. (Unfortunately, promos show that Sammi will be returning to the house at some point. Boo!)  Also on tap: In an American Idol season chock full of sob stories, we determine just whose story is the sobbiest, while also bidding a not-so-fond farewell to that bundle of energy annoyingness, Victoria Huggins. And you may have noticed from our current cover that we’re rather fond of a certain NBC comedy by the name of Parks and Recreation. Now that we’re into the thick of season 3, Annie, Tim and I each pick our favorite character. (WARNING: Moustache alert ahead.) See if you agree!

To join in the fun, just click on the audio player icon below. Or, since we’re now on iTunes, you can subscribe for free and take the podcast with you on the go. No iTunes? No problem. You can also download the entire podcast right here. And to send a question to the InsideTV Podcast team, follow us on Twitter @InsideTVPodcast. Then hit the message boards and let us know: Are you over the whole Ronnie and Sammi thing?

Categories: Awards Shows, iCarly

Nickelodeon has revealed the nominees for this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards. (Gomez and Cyrus are both nominated for Favorite Female Singer as well.) Kid-friendly stars like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Will Ferrell, and Kristen Stewart are also up for various awards; read the full list of nominees here.
