miley-cyrusImage Credit: Amy Graves/WireImage.comMiley Cyrus will host Saturday Night Live on March 5. The 18-year-old won’t necessarily be singing, as the show will also feature a still unannounced musical guest. 'Smallville' scoop: Michael Rosenbaum turned down finale appearance as Lex Luthor -- EXCLUSIVE

Smallville-Lex-RosenbaumImage Credit: Image Credit: David Gray/The CWLex Luthor’s latest scheme is perhaps his most villainous yet: Refusing to appear in the Smallville series finale.

EW has learned that actor Michael Rosenbaum has repeatedly rebuffed attempts by producers this season to get him back on The CW’s show to reprise his role as Luthor in the finale.

“He has put the show behind him and moved on,” says a knowledgeable source. “He’s pursuing his other creative outlet [writing]. By all indications, he is not going to be involved.”

The door still remains open for Rosenbaum to come on board, but it’s closing fast. Smallville wraps series production late next month, with only three episodes — including the two-hour finale — left to shoot. READ FULL STORY »

HBO launching 'True Blood' blog -- EXCLUSIVE

HBO is about to unveil a new way for fans to keep up with True Blood.

The network will announce on Friday a production blog called “Inside True Blood” that will give fans behind-the-scenes details of production on season four. The idea was prompted by the success of the network’s production blog on Game of Thrones.

The blog will have real-time contributions from Gianna Sobol, assistant to series creator Alan Ball, straight from the set.

The first post goes live tomorrow at 9 a.m. at http://inside-true-blood-blog.com and all I know is it contains this sentence: “Today’s call sheet includes the words ‘hostage,’ ‘bites,’ ‘dinner,’ and ‘Eric.’”

'Justified' returns solid in ratings

UPDATED: FX’s neo-Western shoot-em-up Justified returned solid in the ratings Wednesday night, serving up 3.5 million viewers and a 1.3 adult demo rating.

Granted that’s down 17 percent from its big series opener last year, but that number was the network’s second largest premiere audience ever. This is up about 40 percent from the show’s season one average..

Bravo’s Top Chef All-Stars, by and by, has improved since its somewhat modestly rated early episodes this season, and last night delivered a hearty 2.2 million viewers.

Lori Loughlin on leaving '90210': 'There's just not much for me to do'

Categories: 90210

Lori-LoughlinImage Credit: Michael Desmond/The CWParting is such sweet sorrow, Dixon and Annie’s mom! Lori Loughlin admitted to EW that she’s ready to leave 90210 at the end of the season. Loughlin’s character Debbie has been hot for teacher this year (played by Ryan Eggold) since her husband Harry (Rob Estes) left the show last season.

“Ryan and I will finish the season and then we’re done. There’s just not much for me to do,” said Loughlin, who’s been on the CW drama since it premiered in 2008. “It is a very big cast and it is hard to service all of us. The focus of the show is the kids. The parents were essentially there to service the story lines of the kids, and occasionally we got a few separate story lines, but  it just wasn’t really working in a way that all of us had enough to do. The CW has a demographic that they appeal to, and they do it very well.”

Leaving the famous zip code also means she’s available for new gigs. “I think we will wrap with enough time that it could work for me to join another show. I am not sure how they are going to handle the whole exit,” Loughlin said. “I would guess they may wrap some things up but then again they have already asked me if I would come back for a some episodes next year if they need me.  I don’t think they will be shipping us back to Kansas or anything. [The kids] are going off to college so I am sure changes will be made in that respect. They will probably just move them out of the house.”

Loughlin’s final episode will air in May. — With reporting from Carrie Bell

Charlie Sheen: The amount you owe to the crew is...

Charlie-SheenImage Credit: Greg Gayne/CBSIt’s becoming clear why Charlie Sheen reportedly offered to pay only one-third of the crew’s salaries on Two and A Half Men while he’s undergoing treatment: Bankrolling 300-some workers doesn’t come cheap.

EW has learned that it costs anywhere from $300,000 to $400,000 per episode to pay the camera operators, grips, set decorators, electricians, painters, costumers and crafts services folk who help produce an episode of Men each week. If the comedy remains dark for all of February, that could mean the loss of up four episodes. Even if Sheen only paid the one third he’s offered, he’d owe anywhere from $400,000 to $530,000.

Under the terms of his new two-year deal with Warner Bros. TV, Sheen earns roughly $1.2 million an episode — which, by the way, is approximately how much it would cost for him to cover the crew’s entire bill. (His spokesman did not respond to a request seeking comment). It remains unclear whether Warner Bros. TV and CBS will grant Sheen’s request to help split the bill for the out-of-work crew, who are considered freelancers. The studio is under no obligation to compensate the workers whenever Men is dark. It also shut down production to accommodate Sheen.

CBS has one more original of Men that it will air on Feb. 14.

If TV’s No. 1 comedy resumes production at the end of the month, there still may be time to complete most, if not all, of the eight episodes left in the studio’s obligation to CBS. So the crew won’t lose any money from the unplanned break, which began last Tuesday. Still, everything depends on whether Warner Bros. TV and creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre believe Sheen is ready to return — only they can decide when production resumes.

AMC sets two-hour premiere for 'The Killing'

AMC has scheduled a two-hour premiere for its new series, The Killing, on April 3 at 9 p.m. The drama, which stars Mireille Enos (Big Love), Billy Campbell (Once and Again), Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash), Michelle Forbes (True Blood), and Brent Sexton (In the Valley of Elah), follows the police investigation surrounding the murder of a teenager. (The Killing would be familiar to Danish audiences — the series is based on Forbrydelsen, a popular series in Denmark.) The network will be airing a presentation of the 1995 film Seven leading up to The Killing‘s premiere.

ABC pilot wrap: Angels, stewardesses, Poe and fairy tales on tap for fall

Categories: Television, TV Biz

TV-fairy-talesImage Credit: Image Credit: Bob Charlotte/PR Photos; Tina Gill/PR Photos; David Livingston/Getty Images; Everett Collection (3) ABC is nearly done picking up pilots for fall and, like over at NBC, there’re some intriguing high-concept ideas mixed in with the network’s usual “Can we have another sexy hit soap like Grey’s Anatomy pretty-please?” Also like at NBC, there’s a new entertainment president at the helm picking the titles — Paul Lee, who used to run things over at ABC Family before being called up to the big show.

What good about ABC’s dramas this year is I’m grasping to find a trend — that means there’s eclectic stuff rather than the network overdosing on one particular type of show (like the aforementioned sexy soaps). READ FULL STORY »

Well, as Castro told People, “We are going to a friend’s house … and we’re going to go in the pool!”
