Chewbacca, Han Solo’s endlessly devoted sidekick and Millennium Falcon co-pilot from the original Star Wars trilogy, is making his animation debut in the season finale of Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars on April 1 (read our recaps here). Fans have speculated since the series’ inception that Chewbacca, already 200 years old by the time of the original Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, might make an appearance. But the difficulty of animating hair — and, let’s face it, that’s pretty much all Chewie is — proved insurmountable until recently. READ FULL STORY »

Lifetime sets 'William & Kate' airdate
Image Credit: Splash NewsIn case the real nuptials don’t float your boat, why not tune into a fictionalized account? Lifetime announced today that William & Kate, which gives the movie-of-the-week treatment to the British royal couple, will air April 18 at 9 ET/PT. The movie stars Nico Evers-Swindell (NCIS: Los Angeles, Law & Order) as Prince William and Camilla Luddington (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Defenders) as Kate Middleton.
After the movie, Lifetime will debut the first of six one-hour episodes of the documentary series Royal Wedding of a Lifetime. The program will chronicle the history of William and Kate’s relationship and provide a run-up to their wedding. After launch, Royal Wedding of a Lifetime will air from 8:00 to 11:00 PM ET/PT on Thursday, April 21, and Friday, April 22.
William & Kate also stars Ben Cross (Star Trek, Chariots of Fire) as Prince Charles, Serena Scott-Thomas (The World Is Not Enough) as Carole Middleton, Richard Reid (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) as Ian and Victoria Tennant (L.A. Story) as Celia.
Fox renews 'American Dad' through 2013
Image Credit: FoxThis was an easy decision for Fox: The network is bringing a member of its Sunday Animation Domination task force, American Dad, for a seventh round. The Seth MacFarlane comedy had already been picked up for next season, and this order will extend the show through 2013 (animated shows take a long time to produce, don’t you know … unless it’s South Park).
“This is fantastic news,” said Roger the Alien in a statement. “But you do realize I’m not real, right?”
Fall 2011-12 casting roundup: Gellar, Sutherland, Allen, Bello and the Beek
Who says TV’s casting process can’t be as exciting as the hunt for film stars? Andrew Garfield may have comic book fans salivating over Marc Webb’s do-over of Spider-Man for Sony but the broadcast networks have been just as successful at drumming up interest in Wonder Woman (we’ll never tire of linking photos of Friday Night Lights’ looker Adrianne Palicki).
Many of the actors who’ve already booked pilots over the last two months may not even make the cut for fall, but the current crop of prospective fall stars has already upstaged most of the starpower in primetime this year. (Oh Undercover hotties Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, we hardly Googled ye.) Granted, high-profile reboots of classic TV shows like Charlie’s Angels and Prime Suspect have generated huge interest in this year’s pilot process. But several film stars also agreed to small-screen roles for fall 2011, which also ups the ante for the 2011-12 season. Now if only Ashley Judd (who’s in talks for an ABC pilot called Missing) would commit, as well as Christina Applegate, Greg Kinnear, Heather Locklear and Will Arnett — stars the networks are still circling. 'No Ordinary Family' scoop: Michael Chiklis sings!
Image Credit: ITVNot only does Michael Chiklis star in and co-executive produce ABC’s No Ordinary Family, he helps with the soundtrack, too! Fans of the ex-Vic Mackey may want to tune into the March 1 episode, which will feature a single recorded by the actor and his eponymous band.
Dubbed Til I Come Home, the sentimental tune will play over a tender moment between Kay Panabaker, who plays Chiklis’ daughter Daphne, and her boyfriend, though the song was actually written and sung by the actor to pay tribute to the overseas troops and his cousin’s service. (Sample lyrics: It’s so lonely here without you … I know I have to keep my faith…I will pray to God you won’t be very long…)
“I’ve been a musician my whole life,” Chiklis told EW exclusively. “I’m really enjoying making music again and this is a real band! Also, this was written and recorded in my house! This is not a product of the machine … it’s just heartfelt, homegrown music. More to come too.”
The truly obsessed can buy it on I-Tunes.

Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 singer in talks to judge Mark Burnett's NBC singing competition -- EXCLUSIVE
Image Credit: Adam Bielawski/PR Photos; Mark Dye/PR Photos Grammy scene-stealer Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine are in serious discussions to join Mark Burnett’s singing competition The Voice for NBC, EW has learned exclusively. Producers also considered Lenny Kravitz, Roger Daltrey, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, and Enrique Iglesias about occupying a judging seat on the show. Plus, there’s a major-name female star who’s in talks to join as well, but is not yet close to a deal (according to two unconfirmed sources, it’s Christina Aguilera, which would obviously be an enormous name for any talent show).
Deals are not signed and things could still change. But NBC hopes to close deals with the male singers within the next few days, and then sign another judge sometime next week. While taking a break from his work on Gnarls Barkley, Cee Lo has been on a star-making run with his hit single “F— You” and Grammy performance with Gwyneth Paltrow (during which he was dressed, appropriately enough for a man who may judge a show on NBC, as a peacock). Meanwhile, the L.A.-based band Maroon 5 released their most recent album last fall and played Fox’s Super Bowl pregame earlier this month. READ FULL STORY »

Image Credit: Harper Smith/NBCNBC announced today that it has renewed The Sing-Off, The Biggest Loser, and Who Do You Think You Are for the 2011-12 season. This season’s cycle of The Sing-Off averaged a 3.2 rating/8 share and 9.2 viewers, jumping versus the prior season by 28% in the adult demo and 27% in viewers. The Dec. 20 finale, in which Pop Gospel sensations Committed were crowned champions, tied as the No. 1 primetime telecast of that week in adults 18-49.
Loser has averaged a 3.1/8 in 18-49 and 9 million viewers so far this season, and remains NBC’s No. 1 entertainment series among women 18-49 and women 25-54. Upcoming episodes will feature Kim Cattrall, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lionel Richie, Ashley Judd and Steve Buscemi.
“Alternative series such as these three bona fide hits are important not only to their loyal audiences but also as strong components of the NBC schedule,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt in a statement. “They are each unique, attention-getting shows with terrific producing and talent auspices, and we’re proud to be associated with them.”

Rebecca Herbst to stay in Port Charles, 'General Hospital' confirms
Craig Sjodin/ABC
Fans rejoice! ABC now confirms that Rebecca Herbst will continue on General Hospital as Elizabeth Webber Spencer, just a month after announcing that she’d be written off this spring. “The show is thrilled she will remain on the canvas to portray the beloved character in many more poignant and emotional stories. Fans will be pleased to see Rebecca continue the role she created,” according to a network statement.
Indeed, fans went into overdrive with outrage when they found out that beloved Elizabeth would no longer be in Port Charles, writing letters and making calls. Her ouster even sparked rumors that GH was undergoing massive budget cuts — similar to cost reductions on The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives — but ABC denied such a movement was afoot.
Herbst has played Elizabeth on GH since 1997. She’s been nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy.
