Ashley Judd lands ABC action drama pilot

ashley-juddImage Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR PhotosABC has closed a deal to bring Ashley Judd back to the small screen in Missing.

The actress will star in the network’s drama pilot, which plays like a gender twist on the Liam Neeson hit movie Taken: “After her son disappears in Italy while overseas for a summer internship, a worried mom takes it upon herself to travel to Europe and track him down. It soon becomes clear that this isn’t any ordinary woman, but a former CIA agent who will stop at nothing to bring her son home alive.”

The promising-sounding project will contend for a spot on ABC’s fall schedule and is shooting on location in several European cities. Judd’s last regular TV role was back in 1991′s Sisters and she’s best known for roles in films like Heat and Kiss the Girls.

Wow. And to think her agent had her turn down the role of the tool girl on Home Improvement because she was going to do movies. It did work out for a while though.

I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean. Judd did movies, theater and TV, and she started in TV – the memorable Robin Leftler in Start Trek Next Gen, and then she was on quite a few epsiodes of Sisters. All things considered, she has a heck of a career.

I’m saying she had a good run, but obviously her last few movies haven’t fared well.

whatevs – good grief! You’re talking like her career is over. There are certainly worse things for actors than getting a series, especially a good one!

Hasn’t this show already been picked up for 10 eps?

This sounds good! I’ve missed Ashley on the big screen lately. I’ve always liked her as an actress. Recently saw “A Time to Kill” for the first time and she was great in that (albeit small) roll. Liked her in RomComs and in “Double Jeopardy”. I think she’ll do well with this.

Her name is spelled wrong in the first sentence.

This has ‘flop’ written all over it. Why can’t the Judds just go away?

This sounds very promising. I would go even further to say, she’ll win the Emmy, GG & Sag!

It will be great to have her in primetime. She really is a great actress…I know she but her career on hold to be a supportive wife of her husbands racing career….Now to get things going again! Yahoooo

    • timbo1718

      *put her career on hold….

  • Marcus Johnson

It’s not really an Ashley Judd vehicle unless there are multiple scenes of her running away from someone or something.

  • Shirley Digiorgio

    Yay! I’ve missed her.
