'Battlestar' reunion: James Callis joins Ron Moore's magical NBC pilot

James-CallisImage Credit: Michael Buckner/Getty ImagesThe cast of Ron Moore’s 17th Precinct is getting increasingly familiar. First the former Battlestar showrunner tapped Viper top gun Jamie Bamber, and now Baltar himself James Callis has signed up. This is the drama project about cops patrolling a town where magic exists (let’s use that catchy pitch line one more time: “Harry Potter for grown ups”). Matt Long (The Deep End) is also cast.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME…. I love James Callis and Jamie Bamber. I hope this show gets picked up if only to see them act together. Some of the most talented unknown actors out there. Jamie is also American by paternity…so I hope US audiences will not just see a British Invasion

He screams villain…but a morally ambiguous villain which are the best.

      • ks

He is SOOOOOO good at it

      • Trenton

now they need to cast at least 3 regular females for him to sleep w/ while one is in love w/ bamber

  • jmo

    He’s so yummy.

  • Miss M

    OMG can’t wait

  • Melissa

    Nooooo….I hope that doesn’t mean he’s leaving L&O:UK!!!

or Eureka either — i looove his guest-starring role on there — that character is SMOKIN’ HOT!

      • Bobbie

Callis already left Eureka at the end of last season. Guess you didn’t “looove” his role enough to watch the finale.

  • ks

Wow, I was just thinking there is going to be nothing new and exciting on TV.
LOVE James Callis and now I DO have something new to watch YEA!!!

Wouldn’t it be smart for Networks to air their pilots like in the summer, and see which ones get watched the most. Call It PILOT Day or Pilot Week and see which shows get fanfare? B/C viewers have no input on a show like this being Picked up :(

    • Johnification

Nowadays it would be so easy for them to pop them up on Hulu or something and let us take a look.

  • Liz

That’s frakking awesome, but I swear to the gods, this one better not have Angels and better have an ending!

    • Tarc

The last one had a great ending, and had the same ‘higher level’ beings that the original BSG series did. And I don’t think I need to point out that Starbuck died and came back in the original as well. too bad you can’t follow basic storyline…

  • K

Amazing. This show is getting more and more excting.

  • Jenz

Was already interested in this show, but now I’m super excited? Is anybody else finding this pilot season extra intriguing? I have a feeling my dvr is gonna be overworked late August/early September.

  • Jeff from Jersey; yes New Jersey

It*s Ron Moore*s show? As long as they don*t reboot it every few weeks, it will be fine. SO SAY WE ALL!

  • Melissa

    *excited squeal*

  • sabrina W

cool i love these guys, ron moore for the win!

  • ari

Oops, kind of a double post because my prior post didn’t show up on the page until just now. Weird!

  • Miranda

Great news! To make it perfect they now only need to cast Tahmoh Penikett.

  • Xtine

I wasn’t going to watch this show, but I am now. James Callis and Jamie Bamber, great news!
