Image Credit: Solarpix/PR PhotosNBC’s Wonder Woman has found her nemesis: Austin Powers star Elizabeth Hurley says she’ll co-star in the much buzzed about superhero reboot.
“Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman,” Hurley posted on her Twitter feed. “I’ll be playing the evil villain. Can’t wait.”
Hurley’s character runs a pharmaceutical company (and doesn’t that alone tell you she’s evil) that is making a drug that makes people stronger. She wants to build an army that will, among other devilish things, take down Wonder Woman, whom she’s fiercely jealous of. More details and other castings after the jump…
Sources say Hurley’s deal isn’t done, it’s pending until she gets her visa. Also, the role is considered a guest starring gig. David E. Kelley is reinventing Diana Prince as a modern day hero with former Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki in the title role.
Also in casting news, Ginnifer Goodwin has landed the dual role of Snow White/Sister Mary Margaret Blanchard in ABC’s Once Upon a Time fantasy pilot.
Daisy Betts (Persons Unknown) joins Lone Star‘s Jame Wolk in ABC’s political drama pilot Georgetown.
Rachelle Lefevre (Off the Map) has landed the female lead in NBC’s drama pilot The Crossing — which suggests Map isn’t likely to stick around for another season.
Leslie Bibb has been added to ABC’s Good Christian Bitches pilot.

Love to see a little girl on girl action between Hurley and Palicki, no offense with the Charlie’s Angels reboot on ABC.
When I first saw the blurb I thought she was going to be cast as Diana’s mother, Hippolyta, which struck me as brilliant. And since Amazonians age a slower rate, it could totally be done even with Hurley being slightly older than Palicki. As her evil corporate counterpart though? Yawn.
Completely agree. Corporate counterpart sounds like Catwoman all over again.
Agreed. Why are they even calling this Wonder Woman? It’s not!!
Sounds like an updated Cheetah to me. And not updated in a good way…
Could it be a Dr. Poison twist?
Maybe she’ll turn out to be Circe or Cheetah…
I wonder if she’s playing a version of Wonder Woman’s comic book enemy Veronica Cale.
Villains aren’t supposed to be prettier than the heroine.
Good point.
Once you put Tyra, oops, I mean Palicki in the title role, you narrowed the pool of ‘people not prettier than the heroine’ immensely. Probably was too hard to find one not prettier then her.
Maybe this is the update of the Baroness Von Gunther? I don’t think Kelley would put Nazis in this “modern update.” Wonder Woman is timeless and the subject material should be respected.
1. This is going to suck
2. Glad she is not playing the good villan, but the EVIL villian.
Hate to be the grammar police but it should be “of whom she’s fiercely jealous”. That said, although I like the idea of casting Hurley, everything I hear about the plot makes me cringe.
My understanding has always been that ending with a preposition is not “wrong” but rather a stylistic preference. Personally, I like the sound of “of whom” better than “whom…of”. But it isn’t actually wrong.
Yuck.
Once Upon a Time sounds interesting! I love Goodwin. Here’s hoping they give her a good script and cast.
she haven’t gotten her “VISA” yet? ship off we go.
And if the show is going to debut in the Fall of 2011 and it is now 03/2011 and Elizabeth Hurley doesn’t even have a Visa — how fast are they going to produce and film this thing? And why haven’t we heard a peep from Palicki regarding this when everyone else seems to have commented?
Great choice! I love E. Hurley!
With a name like “Off the Map” I first thought…OH…it’s on ABC…soon it will be “Off the Air” or “Off the Schedule”. I have a masters degree in bio engineering and I am going back to school to prepare to be a tv exec. I know how to pick winners and avoid losers. I’m sure alot of people here could do a better job than the current ABC, NBC, and CBS tv programming execs.
Hey, I think I heard one of your mom’s calling you from upstairs to get off the computer and come up out of the basement. She probably wants you to move your bike out of the driveway again – dweebs.
Oh, and Jake: Good luck with your degrees – clearly they’ve served you well so far.
