NBC to re-launch 'Law & Order: Los Angeles'

It’s coming back: NBC will re-launch Law & Order: Los Angeles next month.

The beleaguered procedural has had one creative change after another for its freshman season, but NBC has decided to give the show another push next month with a two-hour premiere and a change of time periods.

“We are pleased to welcome Law & Order: Los Angeles back to NBC’s regular lineup,” said Bob Greenblatt, NBC entertainment chairman. “Dick Wolf and his team have made some exciting creative changes and we can’t wait to re-introduce the show to audiences.”

LOLA last aired an original episode back in December. The show will return on a new night — Mondays — at April 11 (at 9 p.m. the first week, at 10 p.m. the week after).

Among the changes Alfred Molina’s Ricardo Morales is now a detective, Terrence Howard’s DA Jonah Dekker is full time, and Alana de la Garza from Law & Order is a working by Dekker’s side.

Wait — didn’t de la Garza’s character die? Is she still playing the same character?

    • Jackie

No, she was still alive in the series finale of the original L&O. I think Jill Hennessy’s character is the one that was killed off.

      • Yo Yo

It was Annie Parisse. Wish they’d just bring back the original and especially Sam Waterston.

      • StephenKC

You’re both right. Jill Hennessy’s AND Annie Parisse’s characters both died, one in a car accident, the other murdered.

Both Hennessy’s (Kincaid) and Parisse’s (Borgia) character had that “kill-off” experience. Parisse’s character did die, but (from what I remember) they wanted to have a way back in for Hennessy. So they basically wrote Kincaid off as being in a coma. As you know, she didn’t return, but as said before they both had death issues.

    • John

Her character did die … when she was Marisol on “CSI: Miami.”

    • CMC

Her character did die on CSI Miami.

  • Sincy

Well then — now I can sure see why they got rid of the original L&O with the powerhouse ready to go.

  • Jackie

I was about to get excited when I started reading the headline “NBC to re-launch ‘Law & Order'”, but my bubble of happiness burst when my eyes got to the words ‘Los Angeles’. Stupid NBC…

    • jmcg

I feel your pain. Just bring back the original already. . .

      • Meg

And reincarnate Lenny Briscoe while they’re at it.

      • Jackie

::sigh:: I miss Briscoe! He and Greene had such great on-screen chemistry. Best detective pairing in L&O history!

    • Mark B

      I AGREE

THANK GOD. L@O LA is another great show. Also bring back original Law and Order. Plenty of room for all of the shows. Not to forget SVU, another great show.Good for NBC, there are some Brains there.

    • Mark B

Time to cancel some of these stupid ass sitcoms and reality shows

  • Spencer Sullivan

  • doc

    • Jeff M.

I am glad LOL is coming back; it’s sad some of the original characters left; but I am willing to give it another chance.

    • G.R.

My sentiments exactly — especially if Molina and Howard are both going to be in every episode rather than alternating. Should be interesting…

  • Lisa

The only Law and Order worth a damn is Law and Order:UK. THAT show rocks.

  • Mimi

I love me some Terrence Howard, but he’s better than this.

  • jfms777

Glad Alana de la Garza is joining the show, but I don’t think anyone will save it. The writing is bad, and
nowhere near like the superior L&O original.

    • Mark B

      very true

  • dropper

Unless they are also bringing on McCoy, Bernard, Lupo, and Cutter…I have no interest.

    • erin

i agree. that was the best line up of Law and Order in years.

    • Mark B

i agree with you on that

  • Jeff from Jersey; yes New Jersey

About time! The show deserves a second chance. Now if Dectectives Ames and Goran come in on a New York related case. . . .

  • Mike

Why don’t they do Law & Order: White Collar Crimes or something. THey already have Naveen Andrews as a white collar crime detective from that one SVU ep–might as well spin him off. Given the current state of the country I’d think that would be more appealing.

  • Lois

LOLA is a lame show. Bring back the original L&O instead.

  • ajay C

Bring back the Mothership Bring back the Mothership
Bring back the Mothership Bring back the Mothership

After L&O:LA bombs the second half of its season, only then will NBC execs realize they’ve committed a heinous crime. The only re-launch we want to see is that of the original Law and Order with DA McCoy.
