I can NOT wait for this series. Very excited. Best, the iron throne looks exactly how I pictured it.

  • harry

    UUUUH WINNING!!

  • Erin

I hope they mean it. HBOs adaptation of True Blood is not killing off the characters that they are supposed to. I hope they actually do let the people die who are supposed to.

    • JohnT

I hope so. If they keep people alive who should be dead they will have a hard time getting it all to add up. So many things depends on the characters die when they die.

    • sarah

hahahaha. the story would literally go nowhere. no, true blood is a lighthearted type of thing and you can get away with not going by the book. showtime is exactly the same with dexter. they are both CHARACTER DRIVEN products.

this series, however, is built upon the plot and how it is driven by the deaths of the many contenders for the iron throne. It’s not the kind of story you can tell with the characters and just use the setting, like dexter or true blood. you can fudge some things that work better on tv, but you can’t keep from knocking off half the cast.

i mean uh. no one dies. no spoilers. none. at all. ever.

If they get it right, this is going to be fantastic. Working my way through the books now and have lots of dark circles because I can’t put them down. So far the poster and clips on HBO look great. Really can’t wait for the series.

  • Gael

    that poster is EPIC.

  • Marten

The tag line is a line from the book, so yes it’s epic.

  • crispy

That tag line is groanworthy and sounds like something out of a bad Bruce Willis movie… but I understand why such hyperbole might be necessary to attract an audience that may not be familiar with these fantastic books.

    • pneuma

The tag line is straight from the book. “When you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die”.

      • crispy

But it lacks context here. You can’t just turn Cersei’s acerbic dialogue into a tag line without providing any semblance of the character.

    • Danny

It sounds like a Bruce Willis title because it has the word ‘die’ in it?

    • David

The tagline makes perfect sense. It’s a game, but a game of thrones with higher stakes. In most games you win or lose, in the Game of Thrones you win our you die.

It’s the perfect tagline for the story, tailor made for a poster and only all the better because it’s a line directly from the book.

I love this, absolutely fab. If I was HBO I’d make a more female skewing poster as well, this one’s pretty dark. But as a fan of the books, I love it.

    • kate

Uh, I’m a female. A girly female. And I love it. Sorry you need pink hearts and flowers on everything.

    • A

Female skewing? So do you want him to be holding a heart-shaped Valentine, or do you want him to be shirtless?

      • sarah

for a second i read female skewering, and though an impaled cersei would make a nice poster

  • Ed

why does that man have a porcupine coming out of his butt?

  • Beejie

Friend of mine just checked this out and we agree – Sean Bean is being type-cast as a sword wielding warrior and we don’t mind it one bit.

  • Darren

This is a dark series with a lot of taboo parts to it. Kind of curious how they are going to address it. And yes, lots of killing/fake killing of many of the main characters. Hopefully the series will be true to the books.

  • Emoney

I have not been this excited for a TV show in forever. I can’t wait! Sean Bean is total hotness, and so is Peter Dinklage with his hot dwarf self. I CAN’T WAIT!!

  • Wes

    Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

    • Peter Vee

      Troooooooollll

  • MWeyer

I’ve seen them already use this for a new printing of the novels looks great.

  • TicklePig

Charlie Sheen is rumored to have a lead role in the cast. He’s a winner.

    • Rick

A little bit of Sheen makes anything better #WINNING
