Adam Lambert performed a stunning rendition of his single, “Aftermath,” on last night’s American Idol, and after the show, the Season 8 alum gave EW an exclusive interview, discussing the song, and what to expect from him this year.
“The message of the song is being honest to yourself and the people that you love,” says Lambert. “I think we’ve all had that moment in our life where we’re really intimidated about a big decision about admitting something. It’s really about taking that step.”
Proceeds from the song will go to The Trevor Project, a leading organization dedicated to suicide prevention amongst LGBTQ youth. You can buy the single exclusively at Lambert’s website.

Ooh, thanks for this – love him. Looking forward to the new music!
Lady Gaga & adam should make babies.
He’s not interested in girls. At least he appeared more humble, less outrageous and admitted to problems.
It’s making him more likable.
Wow, he sure is ugly without makeup and photoshop.
UGLY??? Are you serious?? He is beautiful in every way. Wow you must be blind!
Your comment shows that you aaa are the truly ugly one inside and out.
I bet you are the ugliest animal on the planet. Happy now? Get your fact straight. hating on someone doesn’t mean the one you hate is ugly. It makes you the ugly one, inside and out.
I wanna see *you* under lighting like that, beautiful.
NO WONDER HE WENT GAY. HE AIN’T GETTING NO P*SSY WITH THAT MUG.
This is response to “aaa”, you are judging him and calling him ugly. I think that you should listen to Aftermath and understand the lyrics of the music. Are you a bully, because you certainly sound like one. Everyone, ignore this bully and listen to yourself and belief in yourself and you will be beautiful.
The dance remix is amazing and The Trevor Project is an incredibly worthwhile organization.
Lambert is such a down to earth, great person. I look forward to the new album. His voice is just one of the best around.
Why didn’t Adam win AI? HIs voice is amazing. I can’t remember who won.
Stunning? It was BORING!
@tiffani ….. GO AWAY, TROLL!!
@tiffani – if you find acoustic music boring, you might enjoy the Aftermath Remix (produced by the amazing Billboard) more to your taste. Plus the proceeds from the remix will benefit the Trevor Project. Positive >>> Negative
You are obviously not a GlamBert and might I add, you have no concept of amazing vocal talent! Too bad for you!
He was fantastic as usual!! Love him!!
I’ve NO doubt the new album will be well worth the long, painful wait until fall. Silver lining…it gives us time to save up the money we’ll then joyously hand over to ticket scalpers for multiple shows on his next tour. =)
Nina, that is my thought exactly.. I will see every show that I can afford again next summer.. The man is perfection itself..
I so agree!! He was stunning! Did you hear the audience reaction? They went nuts. Every time his name was mentioned the place went crazy. Adam is my all time fav from the show and my fav singer period.
Tiffani, you definitely do not know the definition of stunning and boring.
Adam was stunning, as usual. I taped it so I can keep hearing it over and over — he’s was GREAT!!!
Adam looked extremely gorgeous on Idol yesterday!!! Haters please go away and not waste your precious time here!! Jeez…
I really liked his outfit; he’s lost some weight and looks really sharp. I liked his lyrics alot, not sure if I liked the music.
Looking good Lambert. Can’t wait for the new album!
Adam is the best as usual he rocked the place well done Adam!!
He sounded lovely, but like he would have told the same thing for over and over again already (like with “What’s Whadaya Want From is About?” Also, yaiks, harsh lighting!
LOL! What would you expect him to say when the medias kept asking him the same question over and over again. Many non-followers probably only hear this once anyway.
Beautiful man. Adam is crazy talented, can’t wait for new music.
What a great interview. I love hearing Adam speak. I can’t wait for his album. I agree with you, Nina, it will give us time to save up for his next tour.
I thought his performance was stunning – but the lighting for this interview, not so much.
Adam has an incredible voice. I appreciate him helping The Trevor Project.
@ Tiffani, Acoustic singing is very hard to do only people with huge talent can do it. His vocals are pure and STUNNING. We are so used to autotune garbge that when real deal comes along some people with limited knoledge for music will see acoustic as boring.
Yikes. What is up with those eyebrows?
What’s up with that complexion??
What’s up with your shallow self?
His eyebrows and complexion were very nice to look at. “Keith and Jake”, did you know women will like men more if they are well groomed. Adam beliefs in himself and takes care of himself and so confidence is shown. However, the question is do you have eyebrows that are bothering you and perhaps meet together and you want to know how he does it?
