Wednesday night’s performances from the Top 13 finalists on American Idol are already available on iTunes. For the first time in the show’s history, studio versions of the selected songs can be purchased on Apple’s online music store. The songs were recorded by the Idols under the guidance of Jimmy Iovine’s team, including some of the top producers in the business, such as Rock Mafia, Rodney Jerkins, Don Was, Jim Jonsin, Ron Fair, and “Tricky” Stewart. The 13 individual tracks and compilation album, which sells for $7.99, are the first to be released on the 19 Recordings/Interscope label.

I think the studio versions were available last year, too.
and for the last few years
That’s what I thought. Fact-check, people.
Yeah, it’s not even CLOSE to the first time they were available. They started in season seven.
I think Jeff meant first for the label – Sony was involved with Simon
Awesome! I’m going to buy Paul’s amazing song!
And I’m talking about Paul McDonald’s Come Pick Me Up song not the Paul McCartney song that James did. I had never heard that Ryan Adams song before…what a great song.
It was funny when Jennifer said in front of the audience and TV that she DOES NOT know who Ryan Adams is. What a burn to Ryan! How has she never heard the song Two before?????
So I guess she has never been to The Grammy Awards? Ryan Adams has had a lot of Grammy Award nominations. She is a moron. I don’t think American Idol judges should say I don’t know who that singer is. Ryan Adams is probably embarrassed now. What a insult!
they’ve been available since David Cook won. i have several of his.
uhhhh they’ve been available since season 6….
you can only get the songs as a complete album right now. that’s seriously wrong. I would have bought a couple of songs, but I’m not buying the entire album, especially since some of them were not that good.
They sell the singles too, they just seem to be more hidden than the full album.
Hi Jeff! Frank and I purchased two tickets to see the Sat March 19 H2SIBWT preview performance. We had no idea that the narrator is AC. Looking forward to our trip (though, brief) to NYC. my best from JHU-Baltimore. -Jay
Can’t seem to find any idol downloads on iTunes. AT ALL. Is it because I’m in Australia? I just wanna buy the singles. Wahhhhh!
