'Hawaii Five-0' cast and crew safe and shooting today

It was less than two months ago that we watched tsunami warnings sound on an episode of CBS’ Hawaii Five-0. In the wake of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan, the cast and crew have heard them again. Fortunately, the tsunami waves that have hit the Hawaiian islands have been modest and reportedly caused no major damage. Star Daniel Dae Kim tweeted about the warning and earthquake, the largest ever recorded in Japan, early this morning, calling them a “Reality check.” He added, “Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. My family and I have moved to high ground. Now we wait…” Hawaii Five-0 executive producer Peter Lenkov, in LA, followed up on Twitter three hours later. “Cast & Crew safe. All at high ground. So far it’s wait and see. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.” (UPDATE: A rep for CBS Television Studios tells EW, “Hawaii had no land damage we are told, and therefore production is shooting today.”)

The cast and crew of ABC’s Cougar Town recently visited Hawaii to film their season finale. A rep for the show confirms to EW they wrapped last Friday and that everyone had already returned to the mainland. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel is currently vacationing in the tsunami zone in French Polynesia and has beenĀ tweeting updates, admitting to one follower who asked him how scared he was on a scale of 1 to 10 that he was at “a good solid 7. on a small island, with no high ground.” An hour later, he tweeted that the island was being evacuated.

Yeah necause that was my frst concern when I heard about the earthquake and resultant tsunami: I hope the over paid cast members of a crappy sow are safe. Oh, and Grace Park needs some sandwiches.

    • Brian

Maybe if you are concerned about other aspects of the earthquake, you should get your news from some place other than Entertainment Weekly. This is a perfectly logical story for them to report here.

      • wsugar

Don’t worry no writers were hurt, since this show does not employ any.

  • stu

i was hoping tsunami would wipe out this bad show.

    • dave j

people like Stu are so stupid! What a stupid common.

    • laurie

No, no! If anything happened to beautiful Alex O’Loughlin, I would be devastated!

    • five-o fan

      • Jeff

    • five-o fan

I hope a tsunami wipes out idiots like you!!!!!

  • wizard62

Nice…another world tragedy and already the trolls are out with their miserable, mean-spitited comments. Seriously… Stu and BlackIrish…it’s time to get out of mommy’s basement and get a job. And BlackIrish…learn how to spell and type you ignorant moron.

    • BlackIrish4094

Yeah ok, @sshole, I love the spelling police on comment sections, lol. And the intelligent assumptions about people’s age and occupation. Sounds like you’re a pretty solid moron yourself. With a cool tag like Wizard62, I’m sure the ladies are all over you, at least when you’re playing the Sims, ha ha…

      • wizard62

Dude…really…grow up. What an ignorant tool you are.

      • five-o fan

        Irish are NOT Black!!!!

    • Terri

  • Jeff

Hey, take your snark and shove it.

blackIrish, this is an entertainment site and they reported on entertainment. get a life.

Stu, I was hoping the tsunami would wipe out only your family and livelihood. see how that felt?

    • BlackIrish4094

Maybe you need the life if it upsets you to that degree. You realted to a cast memver or something? Even if this is an entertainment site it’s still a vacuous article. Too bad if you don’t like my opinion but comment sections are not limited to positive comments Rainbow Brite.

      • Jeff

So let me get this straight: I need a life because I was glad to hear news that a group of human beings, regardless of whether they work for a TV show, is alive and safe? And that I didn’t feel a need to post some snarky comment on an entertainment website lamenting the fact that such news was posted? Never mind it’s news about a TV show ON a TV blog ON that entertainment website.

Yeah, you’re right. I don’t like your opinion.

Campy as it is, I love this show. It really brightens up my Mondays. So when I heard tsunami waves were headed for Hawaii, I DID worry about the cast and crew. I’m glad to hear they’re all safe. Thanks, EW.

  • dave j

I am very happy to hear that everyone is okay.We need more Hawaii 5 o. Nothing against the show but we need more new episode. It seems like every other week it is a repeat.

  • sal

Whether you are a fan of the show or not ( I happen to be) the cast and crew of this show are people too. Hearing that they were not in any way harmed should be good news for all of us. You have to look at the big picture sometime…

  • Kay

I love Hawaii 5-0 and I’m glad that production can continue shooting. Also awaiting new eps…

    • Jeff

      Hawai’i five o……. Da best

  • babsacola

We love Hawaii 5-0. Glad everyone is safe and that Hawaii has not been hit as hard as was feared.

  • miss l

glad the cast and crew, and all residents, of Hawaii are safe. my thoughts and prayers go out to our friends in Japan as they recover from this disaster.

  • Kirk

While I didn’t think about the crew of Hawaii 5-0, I did remember the episode with the tsunami warning in it…and then checked on my other friends living and working on the various hawaii islands. Glad to know the tourist trade is still up and running, and the damage was mainly confined to harbors… on every island.

  • kalina sanders

glad to hear everyone is ok, and that the show is still underway, best show on tv, keep it going, love all of you.
