Scott Foley cast in CBS medical drama pilot

He’s spent some time in Seattle Grace on Grey’s Anatomy, and he’s walked the streets of Cougar Town, now Scott Foley has been cast in medical drama pilot The Doctor.

Christine Lahti is the star of the show, playing mom who reconnects with her grown-up kids when she joins the family’s medical practice. Lahti’s fellow Law & Order: SVU veteran Michael Boatman is also on board. Foley will play Lahti’s character’s son, a talented surgeon who may not be the perfect man Emily thought she’d raised. Also just cast: Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Showgirls), who will play a partner in the family practice.

But man, that title. If this show is a hit, will CBS order The Cop and The Lawyer next?

Wow another medical drama, the creativity, oh the creativity. Be brave hollywood and bring back Firefly! I want to see the adventures of Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his crew, not another lame cliche forgettable medical drama

Can you people only talk about Firefly. The show got cancelled, get over it. And just because it’s “another medical drama”, it can’t be good? Just give it chance, you may be pleasantly surprised (or not). There’s more than Firefly out there in the world you know.

Noooo CBS! Not ANOTHER try at a medical drama. All of yours have socked since Trapper John went off and even that one was not the best. Do something bold and daring instead.

  • bruno

noooo!!! he needs to stay on gray’s. perfect fit for him.

  • chattypatra

He’s soooo dreamy! Noel, Noel, Noel! Seriously, though, I was sad when The Unit was cancelled and it’s good to know that he will be a regular on a new show. Hopefully, it will last.

  • bob

i want him to be in a comedy, he was so funny in scrubs and cougar town

I know it’s not a potential buzz-worthy show like Person of Interest with the JJ/Nolan teaming or Ringer with the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar, but with the talent this show has assembled in casting and behind camera (pilot wunderkin David Nutter is directing a script written by Rina Mimoun), there is no way that this show does not make CBS’ schedule either in the fall or as a midseason replacement.

I’m just not excited about this guy. The charm has worn off since felicity, and when he divorced jen garner.

    • Amy

YOUR MOM JMCG! She was the one who divorced HIM so shut the hell up.

ANOTHER medical drama? Don’t the network execs ever listen to the public? People have been saying “NO MORE MEDICAL DRAMAS” for years. Enough already!!!!!

  • Lena

I LOVE him on Greys!! Stay on greys!!!!

  • NLP

Sounds promising with that cast. And so glad it’s a medical show, not another lawyer show. I’ve seen enough jerk lawyers in real life to not want to see any more — ever — real or not.

Heck, lawyers already control the commercial airwaves with their misleading ads, that’s more than enough screen time for them.

I hope this doesn’t mean he’ll die in grey’s anatomy, hopefully he’ll become a recurring Character and still be with Teddy.

For people who actually are interested in medicine, it would be nice to actually see a decent medical drama on tv, cause right now there isn’t any. House has long since run its course and even fan of it are annoyed that it keeps getting renewed because they are just running it into the ground. And Grey’s Anatomy is more soap opera drama than actually medical. There is nothing in the way of new medical drama that actually are interesting on the medical side BECAUSE THEY KEEP GETTING CANCELLED because of House and Grey’s. So you can say “no not another medical drama” but if you are going to do that go ahead and point out what is a good currently running medical drama that actually fills that need. Personally I want Miami Medical back (New last year, and cancelled). It was good and interesting and actually dealt with medicine not just who is sleeping with whom.

Also Firefly people, shut up. Yes it was an amazing show, but complain to FOX not on every other network that has nothing to do with it. This clearly has nothing to do with Scifi, so go complain to the people turning out show after show of cliche new sci-fi. They’re the ones you should be saying bring back firefly to cause they are the ones putting out other dysutopic future garbage instead of bring back something good like that.

  • Amy

ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE TALKING CRAP BETTER SHUT UP!! This is been my dream to see him play a doctor for years, and now my dreams have come true and I want to thank the Lord above! Yes! YES! YES! I can die happy now.

SO SHUT UP AND ACCEPT IT CAUSE YOU ALL SUCK!!
