Fox's summer schedule: 'SYTYCD,' 'MasterChef,' 'Hell's' get debut dates

Fox announced its summer schedule, including the return of MasterChef, So You Think You Can Dance and Hell’s Kitchen.

Dance will debut relatively early to get some sampling before summer really kicks in. The show will have a two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 26 at 8 p.m. with Mary Murphy back in the judges seat. Once auditions conclude, Dance will air a performance show on Wednesdays and a results show on Thursdays, both at 8 p.m.

Fox is also double dipping with the second season of Masterchef. The cooking competition series has Gordon Ramsay along with his fellow judges Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot starting Monday, June 6 at 8 p.m. and then will air a second episode each week on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (full schedule below).

Ramsay really takes over the Fox airwaves on July 19, when Hell’s Kitchen joins the schedule on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. with a MasterChef lead-in.

Meanwhile, you know that Jamie Foxx sketch comedy series? That’s been pushed again.

they are really gonna do traffic light encores? lol

  • Jay

Do you guys REALLY need to post the times that FOX scheduled re-runs of fall shows?

    • Brett

It’s his style of reporting. That part of it sucks, but I’ve seen him do this a bunch of times before.

  • Reality

    Jay-
Do you REALLY need to post a message just to piss and moan? Is it really messing up your world that much?

  • SYTYCD

Cant wait for Mary I know alot of people find her annoying but not having her there last season made a HUGE difference…Mia was BOOORING!! The HOT TAMALE TRAIN is coming back WOOOOOO!!!!

    • K

Haha, I’m one of those people who couldn’t stand Mary Murphy’s contrived commentary and felt the season-long relief of her absence on the show last year…but I’ll deal with her this year, because I love everything else about SYTYCD and I’m so excited for its return! I really wish DWTS would follow the same pattern and do a once-a-year-show because I never get enough time between seasons to really start missing it, the way I do with SYTYCD. I know DWTS gets lots of viewers and makes lots of money and all by airing twice a year but…as they say, how can I miss you if you never go away?

    • Laurie

Agreed. I love Mary. It will be nice having a judge back on the panel that can really judge the ballroom dances. Mia is fine and all but plays favorites and judges based on feelings and not technique.

      • A

I agree. Mary is a great judge. Mia is a great choreographer, but I hate her as a judge.

    • @SYTYCS

Mia wasn’t boring; whe was a doughnut hole.

    • 3 left feet

Ditto, loud-mouthed Irish lady (me, too) but she knew her stuff. And I don’t think she ever said she “just wanted to stab” a contestant.

    • jart

Best news of the day!!! I totally missed Mary last year. She is a bit wacky, which adds a LOT of flavor to the show. But wacky never had so much soul. CANT WAIT!!!!

  • Pam

I am excited for some new SYTYCD. It’s a fun show.

  • Iakovos

Encores. Repeats. Call a spade a spade, please. In fact, I am sure these shows have rerun their encore episodes a couple time already.

  • joebecca

YAY SYTYCD is back!! seems like it’s been gone forever this time!

    • Garry

      I miss Cat!

      • Lola

        Me too!

  • Rock Golf

I’m really looking forward to Hell’s Kitchen. I understand that this season Ramsay actually loses his temper and yells at a contestant. Can’t wait for that.

    • Julia’s child

That’s nothing. I hear he slams some raw food onto the counter.

  • bruno

now if only sytycd casts OLDER dances insyead of tween festing their show again it won’t suck like last season

  • W

I like Mary, and I missed hitting the mute button when she started in on her screams. Like it or not, she’s the ‘Paula.’

Also, I hear Alex Wong is dancing again. He better be on the show!

    • keith

If Alex Wong is dancing this season you can crown him the champ right now and its only March. He was going to win last year if it was not for his injury. Then to see him crying on stage was very sad. His fan base is huge, come the end of August the confetti will dropping on him on stage.

      • Chris

I really hope it doesn’t turn out that way. I like Alex but a little suspense on who will win will make it more interesting. An Alex Wong love fest all season long will be too much.

      • tickles

I would be ecstatic if Alex comes back. My heart still breaks thinking of how much pain he has had to endure. The kid is a fantastic dancer and deserves the title.

  • Lia

I love SYTYCD, but I’m sad Mary Murphy is back. That woman is a shrill hot mess and I always have to mute the TV when she speaks.

    • TC

so glad to know that I’m not the only one to abuse my mute button when I watch this show. Cannot stand that woman. She can take that hot tomale train and shove it.

  • JR

    CAT! CAT! CAT!

  • alan of montreal

i hope they rotate the 3rd judge again on SYTYC–I hate seeing the same three faces and hearing the same three opinions all season. I also hope they don’t eliminate most of the people of colour in the first few weeks (though the Canadian version is way worse for that)

  • peggysue

whatever happened to the mia michaels show that was supposed to air?

  • jj

mary mary quite contrary. love her!!!
