'Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!' movie finds distributor, much-needed cash

As is customary with just about every announcement from Gary Sanchez Productions —  the banner owned Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy — a pretty genius announcement went out today regarding the pending feature film based on Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job.

The film dubbed Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie that’ll mark the big screen debut of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim has nabbed a U.S. distributor and a financier. Shooting began this month in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. “We were initially apprehensive of the unprecedented price tag of the film, but apparently we agreed to it after having a drink with Tim and Eric,” said financier Todd Wagner, the CEO of 2929 Prods, in a very tongue-in-cheek statement.  “Actually, it’s all a little bit fuzzy. Regardless, we now realize that it would be foolhardy not to participate in what is sure to be the grandest entertainment ever presented to mankind.” Added Ferrell, in a statement: “You can’t put a price on creative excellence and we didn’t. Maybe we should have, but we didn’t.”

Wagner, along with his business partner Mark Cuban, are expected to perform cameos in the film. There is no release date for the film which will be distributed by Magnolia Pictures.

Heidecker and Wareheim have produced five seasons of Tim and Eric for Adult Swim.

Much of the humor of the article/statements is lost when the title of the movie isn’t mentioned: “Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.”

  • Brian

    I cannot wait.

  • MarcHolm

The title is mentioned in the second paragraph…get the pigsh*t out of your eyes Joey.

The article was updated since my comment, perhaps even *gasp* in response to it, but I appreciate your courtesy in responding.

    Awesome. Can’t wait.

  • Truthhurts

yay 2 hrs of poo jokes, public access tv people and almost sub high school video editing… cant wait to see how little this makes.

    • Brian

      Ya blew it. Capisce?

  • Tim’s mom

sorry to hear, Truthhurts, that yr dream of a 2hr EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND movie didnt pan out…

    • Truthhurts

lol must be a tim and eric fan if they say “sorry your dream of a 2hr “insert massively popular tv show” marathon. /waits for the next fanboy to come in and tell me how i “just dont get it”.

      • mike

you do realise, don’t you, just how retarded it is to publicly state you can’t wait for something to fail simply cos you personally don’t like it?
Does pointing that out automatically make me a Tim and Eric figurine-collecting ‘fanboy’?

      • Brainhurts

hello, is that the 911-Interweb cliche line? I’d like to report a ‘lol’ing ‘hater’ calling someone a ‘fanboy’. It is highly likely this ‘troll’ will next respond with a dismisive comment regarding grammar and/or spelling errors or a similarly exhausted cliche. HELP asap!

  • Brian

You do know that “massively popular” with regard to television translates to “easy to like, unchallenging pablum,” right?

    • Adam

You’ve clearly never seen the show.

      • Richard Dunn RIP

Brian is talking about Everybody Loves Raymond, from truthhurt’s post, not Tim and Eric’s Awesome Show. And Brian’s right. Also…from his post, it seems like truthhurts really WOULD pay $10 for 2 hours of Raymond…

I imagine truthhurt went back to watching reruns of Keeping Up Appearances while sipping from a teacup with a saucer in his left hand.

Anyway, this movie is going to be great, can’t wait to see it. The Chrimbus special was surprisingly good, let’s hope Tim and Eric can keep it up!

  • Tim’s mom

what i dont get is the i.q of a person who doesnt like something but ‘can’t wait to see how little [it] makes’
…could be time to investigate perhaps acquiring a life.
what d’ya think? is that a possibility?

    • Haha golly

Well how would you get an iq? Makes no sense. You mean like acquire his iq? Or understand it? How could you understand his iq when he never revealed it to you? If by “get his iq”, you mean acquire it, than this sounds like iq theft. You’ve clearly shown that you dislike him because he has insult your son’s television show so if his iq does get stolen, you will be the prime suspect. You blew it

  • The Snuggler

Hey everybody, quit ganging up on Truthhurts. This show is pretty much the definition of acquired taste. While I don’t really like that he wishes to see the film perform poorly at the box office, I also don’t see how liking Tim and Eric gives people the right to be such elitist snobs.

  • Haha golly

Tim and Eric are an acquired taste. I like the strangeness, but I can see where many wouldn’t. This doesn’t mean they like sitcoms, but even if they did, it’s all opinion and no one else’s taste is as good as the individual. Don’t be a douchey elitist. You blew it.

  • Haha golly

Anyway there was talk of an Everyone Love Raymond movie. When does it begin filming please?

  • Haha golly

So many douchey elitists don’t understand that their opinions are no better than anyone elses. I like T and E by the way. They’d probably think you guys suck.

  • Barney Bernhardt

While we were pleased to hear from David Leibehart that he had some 25 pages of script to study for his role in the film… and more pleased to recently learn that Absolutely Productions managed to include Palmer Scott in a little background cameo (Great job, Palmer!) But we’re wondering just whatever happened to those other T&E regulars whose contibutions were so important to Tim and Eric’s strange success? Sire James… Neil Hamburger… Michael Q. Schmidt… Ron Austar… Tanese Gray… Bob Druwing… Bob Ross… Ron Stark… Ben Hur… and so many who the fans would love to see in a T&E film about a T&E adventure.

Was it that the location in Palm Springs was only a “MINI”-mall with no room for those other fan favorites?

  • Rick Burrel

Fun article, I genuinely had a good time reading it, keep up the good efforts.

  • Nitiely

love the vid.Elle is one of the best villain there is.. she’s pscohytic, funny, cute.. femme fatale.. lol Kristen <3I've heard that it has been decided before shooting that Elle is going to die.. they wanted to put her as a sister of Claire but there was no time so they killed her. ((((((((
