'Last Call with Carson Daly' renewed for 2011-2012 season

Carson Daly will remain a nightly presence on NBC: The network announced on Tuesday that it was renewing his late-night talk show, Last Call with Carson Daly, for an eleventh season (2011-2012). “I am excited to continue with what we are doing here at Last Call,” said Daly in a statement. “We give our viewers something unique and interesting every night to watch and I am very proud of that.” Daly, whose series airs weeknights from 1:35 a.m. to 2:05 a.m., also will serve as host of NBC’s reality competition The Voice, which debuts April 26.

Wow, this is shocking because I didn’t even know he was still on the air.

    • Sharlin

Who watches Carson Daley? I have always said Dave Holmes was the treasure MTV always underused.

    • Tom

I thought they canceled this show already? Someone must have lots of money with nothing else to do but keep this going

    • Ray

Who the hell is Carson Daily, and why should this matter to me?

    • Samuel

I always thought Carson Daily was on the radio. Strange! XD

  • robred

i dont know one single person who’s seen even one minute of this show. at that time, i think a test pattern might get the same rating.

    • Ray

I’ve never seen this show. Carson Daily sounds like a kiss fm dj or something.

  • Ae

Do people even watch this show? Lol

    • JJ

Nope. Nobody I know watches this either. Seriously, I think old reruns of all horror movies during this time slot would be an improvement, like Elvira or whatever…

  • Mac

Put me in the group that thought the show was cancelled a few years ago. :p

    • Greg

The show was great back in 1996

  • LOL

I read somewhere that ratings were actually up for this. So now maybe 100 people are watching?

    • Thomas

Whatever they use to rate ratings anymore is seriously busted

This is awesome news, I don’t know why it’s awesome, but I’m quite sure this is completely and entirely awesome news. Every once in a while I stay up until 3am for no apparent reason, with nothing to do, no motivations to sleep or dance or be on drugs or anything that would resemble a reason to be awake at that time and watching television. When this happens and I turn on my television with it’s 400 channels, OnDemand features, and lots of 3am movie programming that’s more like soft-core, I find Carson Daly’s show on NBC and I laugh. And I laugh and I laugh and I laugh at the sheer genius, just GENIUS of the man (or woman…feminists) that keeps on renewing Carson’s contract. For years, I didn’t know how anybody was go to be able to keep Carson Daly employed but away from any and all viewers that want to avoid the plague of his blandness. He just sucks the energy from any person he interviews, and it’s not even like the interview subjects dislike him, it’s more like the friend you have that always asks the most random questions for no reason: “Hey, you ever thought about going vegetarian? You know, just for fun. Have you?[pause] Yeah, me neither.”
He’s just awkward. He asks so many interview questions with “yes or no” answers that he just sucks the energy out of any of the C-listers he interviews, and C-listers are usually excited to get interviewed on ANY program. The person who keeps on renewing his contract knows that if Carson doesn’t have a steady gig interviewing somebody on an important channel, he’s liable to start going on reality shows and ruining even the most crazy personalities on reality shows with his boringness and vapidity. And then he’d be on t.v. during programming times that I’m awake! If I was flipping channels during the 7:30 lull in primetime, I might have to see Carson just ruining some stupid show that I shouldn’t be watching in the first place. But there he’d be, just boring America like he did for years on MTV when he was still important. Putting him on at 3am, for some reason, is enough to satisfy Carson’s appetite for fame. So if that satisfies Carson, I guess it satisfies me too.
And yes, I know it’s more than a little sad that I spent any part of my day writing about Carson Daly, but THIS is awesome news.

I can’t decide what’s worse? A show no one watches..or people on the internet who wasted a few seconds of their life to make a “smart” (term used so very loosely) comment about it…I say tie

    • me, Baby, ME

No, its us. And if you don’t think I’m smart, I’ll use your term very loosely. You say “tie”, I say tie yourself to the bottom of a pier at low tide and see how your tie works. You say “tie”, I say tie me a river. No I don’t. I’ll try again. You say “tie”, I say it’s more politically correct to say People of Tieland. That was even worse. You say “tie”, I say tie a 250 foot long bungie cord to your leg and jump off a 200 foot cliff. No that was mean, and I don’t think bungie is spelled correctly. Try Again: You say “tie” because you’re mother and father didn’t love you enough and instilled in you an overactive urge to judge people as you see fit even though we all know that we’re all pathetic here, living our existence as humans. You say “tie”, I say quit judging me d-bag. Not Sheen enough. Try again. You say “tie” because you’re not a about Winning, you’re a LOSER, and LOSERS say “tie” because they don’t know that’s the same as LOSING. WINNING!…Whoa too Sheen. Try again. You say “tie”, I say you’re a mean person, there we’ve both judged people we don’t know based on stupid internet nonsense we write in order to fill our meaningless, never-going-to-invent-anything, bullcrap lives. Myself included, of course. You…say…”tie”…I say you lose. Because at least I know it’s a game….

      • me, Baby, ME

your mother and father***. Not “you’re”. I hate it when I misspell during a diatribe…

  • Lucy

It’s actually a pretty solid show. Interesting format, and I’ve discovered some new music.

  • Thomas Parker

    Why?

  • bruno
