The Good Wife‘s Scott Porter has been cast in Josh Schwartz’s Hart of Dixie for The CW. The pilot stars Rachel Bilson as Dr. Zoe Hart, who moves from New York City doctor to the small Southern town in which she inherits a medical practice. Porter will play a character named George Tucker. Kevin Zegers, who’s spent this season recurring on Schwartz’s Gossip Girl, meanwhile, has signed on to Schwartz’s ABC pilot Georgetown, described as a sexy soap centered around young people behind the power brokers of Washington DC. He’ll play Monty, a wealthy stockbroker with family connections who’s an old rival to the young presidential speechwriter (Jimmy Wolk) at the center of the story.

Lauren Cohan, most recently seen on NBC’s Chuck and The CW’s Vampire Diaries, has scored the lead in the CW plot Heavenly. She’ll play a young attorney, Lily, who teams with a former angel, Dashiell (Ben Aldridge), to tackle cases at her legal aid clinic. She comes to the rescue of her clients, while he saves their souls. Ryan Eggold has also just been tapped to play a pastor, Owen.

In other pilot news, Alanna Ubach (Men of a Certain Age, Hung) has rounded out the lead cast for Rob Thomas’ Fox comedy Little in Common. The pilot revolves around three couples — Rob Corddry and Paul Marshall, Kevin Hart and Gabrielle Union, Ubach and Lombardo Boyarin — forced together by their kids’ love of sports in Austin, Tx.

I hate that Rachel Bilson has landed on the CW. Her show won’t last to see a second season.

    Jason Street!

Is that Paul Marshall or Paula Marshall that’s teamed up with Rob Corddry?

Scott Porter excites exactly…ZERO fans. Try again, CW. Ditto with Lauren Cohan as a lead. I had high hopes for Dixie, but the casting has been atrocious. (Really, I don’t even get the appeal of Bilson.)

This looks like it’ll get Porter off of The Good Wife. That excites me.

…and that sounds much dirtier than I had intended.

Speak for yourself, Jason! I love Scott Porter.

Excuse me Jason, but Scott Porter just happens to be one of my favorite actors.

think before you put something down.

Same here. Scott Porter was the only reason I started watching The Good Wife (great show btw) and he’ll be the reason i’m going to watch Hart of Dixie.

Guess you don’t know as much as you think, Jason – Scott Porter excites me (though getting his character away from TGW also does), and I love Lauren Cohan – she’s the reason I clicked through to this post.
